The Dairy Reviews

Michael
The Dairy is a pretty compact cottage front of property is on the main car park with no frontage to speak of . I sat out front for a cuppa on the footpath outside the cottage and felt like taking parking money as others arrived on the gravel car park. Photos make it look like its next to a courtyard not a car in sight untrue we even had a car parked outside our bedroom window. on arriving went to put suitcase in the bedroom and the door opened onto the bed and bounced back on my head no room to fully open the door in fact no room to swing a cat fortunately we had our dog but that was a big problem as not allowed off lead anywhere or to be left unattended so no visit to hot tub for us! 20 acres of lovely grounds to explore as long as dog was on a lead luckily there was a beach 5 miles away. so our dog could play ball etc they charged 30 cash for dog not sure why as not allowed on furniture so no extra cleaning required. definitely not dog friendly. we took photos of car parksorry our country view we left a day early couldnt take anymore nearly left on day one but we had paid a lot of money. The Dairy would suit a slim couple ref bedroom door and no dog. Good news we could watch our car from the window.

A lovely cottage in a lovely location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our second stay was just as peaceful and comfortable as the first. We would recommend it to anybody.
The property itself is amazing, set in a lovely quiet country setting. We had an amazing time. We would only recommend two small improvements. Instructions on using the electric heaters Hot water was not readily available in the kitchen, supply seemed to be low Gas fire would not work and no instructions We would stay again
An excellent place to stay, only thing which we would have liked is our own secured space outside. It didn't matter this time as the weather wasn't great but it is something we will have to think about if we decide to go again. Walks for the dog were perfect and hosts were brilliant.

Small but perfectly formed, The Dairy was a wonderful home away from home for our week's break hubby, myself and our dog. It is very well equipped and had everything we needed for a restful break. On arrival, Karen escorted us to the cottage and went through everything with us and the welcome tray was ready and waiting for our cuppa. Yes, it opens out onto the cottages car parking area, but this didn't particularly bother us. I would perhaps suggest maybe voile in the windows to help a little with privacy, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us. The bed is comfy quite soft as are the couch and chair in the living area. The laundry room is literally just through the side gate should you need it I did wonder prior to our stay how peaceful it would be on a site with multiple cottageshousescaravan pitches in such close proximity to each other, but I needn't have worried in the slightest. The site is peaceful and tranquil, with a beautiful area to walk around the lakes. It is beautifully kept and managed, and is exceptionally clean. Karen clearly takes great pride in what they have achieved at Jockhedge and I can see why. The area is perfectly placed whereby nothing is too far to travel to, whether that be the dog friendly beaches or the towns and cities. We visited Lincoln for the day as it was only an hour's drive away and is well worth the trip. For beaches, I can recommend Chapel Six Marshes and the beach by the North Sea Observatory both of which are dog friendly and within a few minutes drive of BurghleMarsh. I would also recommend a trip to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve as another peaceful place to visit and walk note that dogs aren't allowed on the beach path during April to September. On the one day it absolutely tipped it down, we visited the Seal Sanctuary at Skegness as it is dog friendly with the exception of the cafe, gift shop and floralbutterfly house and spent a lovely hour or so wandering around. All in all, we had a lovely time which was made better having somewhere so lovely to return to at the end of the day. We will definitely return again to the area next year, most likely renting one of the cottages with a private enclosed garden purely for convenience of a nightime wee for the pooch.
Enjoyed our stay staff were excellent nothing a problem to them. The dairy bit noisy with the chippings that all back next year defo thanks everyone
The Dairy is an amazing cottage and was spotless and fitted out to a high standard. The well maintained grounds were perfect for walking our two dogs and its so peaceful with amazing views. Its well positioned for visiting throughout Lincolnshire from the sandy beaches to the stunning Wolds. We will definitely be returning
Would not label as dog friendly and barely dog tolerant. The Dairy is not really suitable for dogs unless you want to put them on the lead & go out every time your pooch needs to answer the call of nature. The Visitor Pack is a long list of rules & regulations with little in the way of a welcome. Welcome pack was a small pack of ground coffee, a local Plum Loaf and a pint of milk no shampooconditioner. You arent allowed to leave dogs unattended so were unable to use the hot tub. For couples without dogs the Dairy is small but comfortable with certain aspects looking very tired eg bad cracking around door in the shower room. A major issue is the door into the bedroom this opens about 18 inches before hitting the bed so is unsuitable for restricted mobility or wheelchair users. Wardrobe has to be locked as the door swings open otherwise. Zero privacy unless curtains are closed the Dairy fronts onto the car park where everyone walks past your windows. The outdoor sitting area is also on the car park. The grounds are excellent for dog walking if you ignore the dogs on leads signage and are sensible. Our two slept in a crate dogs not allowed on furniture or in bedroom so really needed a morning run. As we were charged 30 per dog we got zero for our money being Cavapoos there is no shed hair to deal with. Overall it was a good week as the weather behaved, if it was raining it would have been an endurance test.
We had a lovely, relaxing stay in a very clean and comfortable cottage. We had no hot water in the bathroom, this was fixed within the hour. I would say dog tolerant rather than dog friendly. Everything is of a high standard.
Loved the cottage and the location, couldn't fault it.
Beautiful cottage clean, comfortable and well equipped. The site was lovely and very relaxing. Really enjoyed our stay.
Very pleasant stay. It is a very peaceful location which ticked all the boxes for a relaxing time.
Excellent accommodation, great surroundings, will come back happily.
Delightful well maintained property and site, the owners efforts showed. Had a really good holiday.

Natureland Seal Sanctuary - PE25 1DB
about 4 Miles
Awarded the Lincolnshire Family Attraction of the Year award in recent years this fun day out is recommended. You can see seals and penguins, as well as other animals in the popular pets corner.  Feeding time for the seals and penguins is the real highlight of the day. Entertainment, education and conservation are the main aims of this attraction. Natureland's work with abandoned baby seals has become known worldwide and it's carefully researched rearing and treatment program is now used by many other rescue centres.
Rushmoor Country Park - GU10 1ET
about 17 Miles
Located in Louth in Lincolnshire this is an ideal attraction when you want to get out in the fresh air and explore. There are many animals to see including ponies and piglets which the little ones love.  There are also some amazing birds from hawks and falcons to owls.  Most aspects of this attraction are included in the admission cost and as well as wandering around you get to hold and feed the animals too.  A real highlight are the micro pigs which are just like real pigs but in miniature.  Fully grown they are around the size of a spaniel!  If you get hungry then you can take your own picnic to the picnic areas or head for the tea room selling delicious food and children's meals too.
Pleasure Island - DN35 0PL
about 28 Miles
Wow this is an amazing family theme park and you will probably need the full day to experience it all.  From thrilling rides to family shows, kids of all ages are catered for.  Some of the most popular rides include the Obliterator and The Pendulus, not forgetting the Hypoblaster.   Family shows are entertaining such as the African Acrobat Show which is back by popular demand.  Entrance tickets are good value and if you book online you will receive a discount. To save even more money if you live locally or are visiting the area for a few weeks you could buy a season ticket for around £50 which will allow you entry for the whole season.
The Jungle Zoo - NR31 9EY
about 28 Miles
Centred around a Tropical House in an amazing jungle like setting this is a really unique attraction that will appeal to families.  In the Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire it's easy to get to and offers a fun yet educational experience.  Referred to as the number one attraction in the area highlights include capuchin monkeys, meerkats, ring tailed lemur and for the children African pygmy goats.  The tropical house features Red Eared and other Terrapins from North America and goldfish amongst other things.  We think The Jungle Zoo represents excellent value for money too.  We recommend a whole day to explore this attraction and ensure you get to see all of the animals resident there.
