The Mews House Smallburgh Reviews

Emma Carter
We loved staying here! The location is fantastic, close to the coast, Broadsand some great pubs and eateries. The house itself was even better than the pictures-super comfy beds and a well-stocked kitchen. The owners were away, but we could easily reach them by phone if needed. Clare, who looked after the place, was absolutely lovely and made us feel really welcome. We’ll definitely return-it’s a gem!
Emma
We had a lovely week at The Mews Cottage. The peaceful setting was perfect, with easy trips to the coast and countryside. The owners were really friendly and helpful. Definitely planning to come back - it was just what we needed!
Emma
We had an amazing stay with our kids, grandkidsand dogs. The place offered plenty of room for everyoneand the gardens are lovely. The pool and snooker room were real highlights. Perfectly located too! Already recommended to familyand we’re sure we’ll return. Definitely a great find!

We had a fantastic time staying at the cottage! Despite the mixed weather, everything we needed was there, making our stay really comfortable. The pool was perfect for the kids, with just the right depthand the outdoor area with swings and a climbing frame kept them entertained for ages. The snooker room was a cosy spot to relax and watch a game or read a book. The hot tub was a real treat, especially looking up at the trees. It’s peaceful out in the countryside, yet close enough to the lively beaches of Great Yarmouth. Definitely recommend Sea Palling for its gorgeous sands!
Emma
Beautiful surroundings and friendly owners made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble. We’d definitely come back. Highly recommended!
Sarah

We stayed here for a family birthday and it was lovely. The grounds are stunning and the location is perfect. The owner was super friendly and made us feel welcome. The kids adored the pool and climbing frame. Definitely planning to return soon!
James
We really enjoyed our stay here! The cottage’s setting is so peaceful, surrounded by lovely grounds perfect for games. The pool and hot tub were spotlessly cleanand the hot tub was just the right temperature. Inside, everything was tidy and comfy, with great furniture and beds. We also loved having a snooker room and tennis court to use - definitely a great find!
James
Absolutely brilliant location, so quiet and secluded! It's perfect as a starting point for all sorts of excursions or just as a peaceful getaway from the noise of everyday life.
Mark
Lovely cottage with excellent bedrooms, kitchenand equipment both in the cottage and on-site. We really felt a car was necessary to get around because once we exited the drive, there was a busy road that we didn’t feel safe walking along. Plus, there were no amenities within walking distance.
James
Spent a fabulous week in beautiful surroundings. The house was big enough to fit 3 generations comfortably. Cracking facilities - we made full use of the pool, tennis courts and snooker room. Sea Palling beach is within a 15-minute drive. Susan, the owner, was far enough away to not be intrusive but really helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be returning!
Merrill
A superb cottage in a beautiful setting, offering really flexible accommodation for our 3 families. The outside space is a real bonus and wonderfully maintained and the location is perfect to get to so many places easily including some amazing places to eat. The pool and hot tub were big favourites! The owners Susan and Gary are wonderful hosts and provided some great local information. We felt at home so quickly and had a very memorable holiday, thank you!
Karen
A lovely peaceful setting but within reach of amenities a very short drive away. Local pub within walking distance. Very clean and en-suites for every bedroom.

Lesley
A great property for getting the generations together. No stairs to negotiate, all rooms tastefully decorated. Beautiful setting in the owners grounds. Shared use of the heated indoor swimming pool and the hot tub were added bonuses. Excellent location for visiting the many attractions Norfolk has to offer. Host could not have been more welcoming a nd helpful whilst being discreet with her presence.

Found a special day out near your cottage? Please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too!
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 3 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 13 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 15 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 21 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 22 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 23 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 25 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 25 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 27 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
