About The Coach House

This detached barn conversion is situated on the ownersÂ’ smallholding on the outskirts of Llanyblodwel, in Shropshire. A Grade II listed property that has been lovingly renovated to create a welcoming, character cottage, decorated and furnished in a classic country style.

The entrance hall leads through into an attractive, comfy sitting room with a full-height picture window and a woodburner set against a feature stone wall. The kitchen is well equipped and thoughtfully laid out with a lantern-style roof light and a large social dining area for guests to eat and relax in comfort.

There are five well-appointed bedrooms, including a ground floor twin offering en-suite shower facilities in a wet room, which also benefits from wide doors and grab rails and may therefore suit the less mobile. There are two first floor bedrooms with king-size beds and the master also enjoys an en-suite shower room, while two further bedrooms have the option of being made up as super king-size doubles or twins.

Enjoy dining alfresco in the private, secluded garden with a cobbled patio, which is sheltered by woodland and provides a delightful, tranquil spot to sit and relax whilst enjoying the surrounding wildlife and country air. The owners have thoughtfully provided a Scandinavian-style log cabin with an internal barbecue stove with a shower and WC attached and small kitchen area so everything you need is ready and waiting!

There is a multi-level decked area and outdoor sofas and a table for you to relax in the warm weather or there is ample room around the wood fire in the barbecue hut. There is also a wood-fired cedar barrel sauna and hot tub, allowing you to enjoy a steam and soak before tucking into a tasty barbecue.

There are many scenic hill walks from this superb cottage, through the Tanat Valley and onto the nearby Berwyn Mountains, and access can be found onto the popular Offa's Dyke footpath with ease. Enjoy day trips to the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, visit the world Heritage site of Ironbridge with its many museums and craft shops, or enjoy a trip to Lake Vyrnwy with its numerous water sports activities and circular walks, before returning to this delightful holiday cottage to plan tomorrow's activities.

The Coach House Reviews

Absolutely unreal place that was perfect for a cozy break away! Will definitely be back!
Gordon
The Coach House was an excellent place for our family holiday and Suzanne and Dave were very helpful with all aspects of our stay.
Frances
We had a fantastic weekend in the property, beautiful house, amazing facilities and lovely owners. Thank you!!
Josephine
A very pleasant property with spacious grounds and friendly, responsive owners. It was as wonderful as the listing described. We very much enjoyed relaxing in the huge electric hot tub listening to the birds in the tall trees. Being so large the covers are heavy and need two people to remove them. I mention this as my husband and I are in our seventies and beginning to realise that the time may come soon when we wouldn't be able to manage lifting them. Our only problem was that the house instruction booklet that would have been helpful to read on arrival had been put on top of the tall fridgefreezer and not found by us until we were leaving. We also found no instructions on using the induction hob and electric ovens which, when you are used to gas, is not as blindingly obvious as everyone who has electric ovens seems to assume. We also didn't discover the lock on the stable door entrance to the house until towards the end of our stay.
Charlotte
The owners were friendly and made themselves available if they were needed which wasnt necessary as everything was great but they were very accommodating nonetheless. We were impressed with the accommodation and facilities at the property. Thank you for a lovely family break.
This is a fantastic place to stay for a group of people sleeps 10. Great farm house in a fantastic setting with great facilities and with some interesting sight seeing destinations not too far away. We are considering booking again as we liked it so much.
Mrs
Booked this place in 2021 for Xmas break in 2022. Had to cancel and gave 8 months notice. The owner Suzanne Jenkins made things very difficult to refund my ?300 deposit, so much so, I had to go down the legal route. The photo?s on the site looked great but I was shown a video from a friend which painted a completely different storey. This is not the way to do.business. If you book and have to change your mind. Be aware! You will loose your deposit even though there was no disclaimer in place to say otherwise! Not a professional business woman at all.
Lovely property, would recommend. Nice place to catch up with friends, suitable for little ones with cot and high chair and stair gate. Plenty of car parking, very cool hot tub area with chill out room, well stocked kitchens little one loved seeing the alpacas too! We had a lovely stay, thank you very much.
What a fantastic venue for an extended family celebration. The house was exactly as described with the added bonus of the chill out area. Location was ideal to your the area. Will certainly recommend this wonderful property
We had a fantastic time staying at The Coach House. It was a lovely house, really clean with everything we needed. The facilities, such as the hottub, sauna and BBQ pit were amazing, clean and well looked after. Suzanne was lovely and kind and really quick to respond if we had any questions. We also loved making friends with her gorgeous dogs and alpacas! It was a great stay!
It was a really nice relaxing time and the owners were very helpful. Would highly recommend.
Friends and family break
We have spent a tremendous week at the coach house. Ten of us altogether ranging from 84 years to 14 years, plus two dogs, and the place satisfied EVERYONE. Just incredibly relaxing and also fun. Firstly, the house is just incredible and so very homely. Suzanne and Dave make you feel so welcome and at home without any intrusion - perfect hosts! NOTHING is too much trouble (and I am high maintenance!) Garden is fenced in so completely dog friendly The hot tub, sauna and bbq hut offer a perfect party/chill zone depending on the mood. Huge amount of time spent here and due to the set up the British weather did not impact - we just loved this zone and we are now sourcing our very own hut!!!! These guys have everything you need - the house is totally resourced as it the hut and they even offer robes for your comfort when moving between the house and sauna/tub. Location is great - there?s lovely walk literally at the end of the drive. Couple of pubs just down the road. Some totally awesome sights to see a short drive. But you could just stay here. We ordered a Tesco delivery which arrived the evening we did this was perfect and allowed us to enjoy from the first moment. Top tip - Suzanne?s brother makes cider and WOW! His moon cider is just delicious! Wood available here so no need to buy or bring. Seriously I messaged Suzanne every day almost asking for something (coder, wood, advice?) and she was right back to me as if it was my first request every time m. Enormous thank you to our wonderful hosts - you guys are fabulous. We would return in a heart beat and would recommend to all!
A very lovely cosy house and super outdoor space The whole family loved it
60th Birthday and Ruby Wedding Anniversary
What a find so close to home. We stayed for 5 nights from the 17th November. The property and amenities are wonderful and could not have found a better place for our celebration. It was great to be told about the Rural Retreat for extra relatives to stay over at. Everyone enjoyed themselves, we attempted a bbq on the Saturday night and it was wonderful at this time of year to do this indoors with everyone together, warm, cosy and music. It was really useful to have all the facilities in the building and we just had to bring down some food that we had prepared in the house. The Grandchildren loved it especially the hot tub. The location was great with stunning views from both the house and the Rural Retreat. The only thing that we could not find was bins for the rubbish but David the owner came round on the Sunday, we mentioned this to him and he said he would bring some down. Some of us went for Sunday lunch at the Navigation Inn at Maesbury Marsh which was very nice although a long time due to staff shortages and when we got back to The Coach House our rubbish had been sorted in to the bins, we were quite happy to do this ourselves but thank you David. We didn't get to meet Suzanne but she was very helpful by email and text messages. I would like to say on behalf of all of who stated that you have a wonderful property and we would love to come back in the future. Best wishes for continuous success. Tracey

No complaints at all. We enjoyed a lively few days in a lovely property with excellent facilities.
Lovely house. Well stocked and plenty of room for 10 people. New furnishings exceptional quality and tastefully decorated. The chill out area was fantastic. Photos need updating on site to show the improvements. We had a family get together which was much needed and this house was an excellent choice. We all enjoyed our stay here. Thank you Suzanne and David
Georgia
We had a brilliant time staying in the coach house. We had everything we needed in the house, it was warm and inviting and we loved the dogs. The big one came in the house a few times for cuddles!
Myself and my family stayed here for 1 wk, n wot can I say but fab fab fab, the house is a lovely looked after home, disabled facilities from downstairs bedroom to walk in shower, wide doorways too, lovely cosy beds, the kitchen n lounge was great and big, everything was stocked well from dishwasher tabs to bacterial wipes, 2 ovens, washer, dryer, dishwasher, family was so happy with their rooms too, there was a gud sized fridge freezer for the necessities, outside area was fab brill parking for alot of cars too, the hot tub area all I can say is wow wow wow, from the sauna, hot tub and the chill out area was more than welcoming, the hot tub fit us all in at same time n kept its warmth all the time, we cooked over fire pit in the chill out area too, facilities there again was great, n included bathroom too, everything there was well taken care of, n maintained,, nothing negative about the chill out,, there was crocs to use if needed, in the house 2 files to read is a must, this gives every bit of info you will need in the stay, local supermarkets too, n lots of areas to look, The owners are only a phone call away for any problems which we don't need to contact, before we left we left we ensured we cleaned n tided the house. In same condition as we found it,, me for 1 wud love to b able to just pack up n holiday there in the future, n wud defo recommend to all to take a hol there too, lovely important memories made for us all,, BTW a lovely oldish dog, came round a few times to see us he was so friendly n even my granddaughter got over her fears of dogs, so don't have any doubts just book it,
The house itself is lovely, me and some friends went on a long weekend like we have many times before. The outside space is excellent and so much fun and we had a fab time in the hot tub. The downside for us was the house has mice. The first mouse we saw was crawling on the kitchen side, then next time was in the shower and escaped at the back of the toilet. Then at night you can hear them running around in the ceiling. Some people say in the countryside you can expect mice, but for me they shouldnt be in the house. The rodents are clearly finding a way in and that needs addressing as after we saw the mice we couldnt relax and we scared all the time. I cant fault the owner for coming straight down after we saw the first one, which we carried out in the bread bin. He then put a few traps down but the weekend was really quite upsets for me as I have a real fear of mice.
The Coach house is a large property ideal for celebrations or multi generation family groups. The listing could do with updating to reflect it now has a superb electric powered hot tub rather than a wood powered one. The chill out area really made the property. Some shade would be useful as we were there in a very hot sunny week.
William
We had a fantastic weekend at the Coach House. The facilities more than exceeded expectations. The chill out area was brilliant. We wish we had more time there to explore the area. Dave and Suzanne were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. I cant recommend this properly highly enough.
The property and facilities were fantastic. Owners very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Sandra
Sorry. The feedback should have been for coach house. This feedback is for Gardners cottage. Cottage was beautiful with stunning views of countryside. The owners and family were very friendly and helpful and our stay there was very enjoyable.
Deborah
Had a few problems with cleanliness on arrival but we're sorted out once pointed out. Shower leaked through the ceiling after first use but was fixed, hot tub didn't work, no bubbles was informed they are getting a new one in September! All that aside the house is lovely, great chillout area, house is in a lovely place although a bit remote.
This is our second time at the Coach House and Suzanne and David cannot do enough to make it special. There were big storms but we were cosy, warm and dry and the youth even tested out the Hot Tub. A special place even if the phone signal and the WiFi can be difficult.
This is a great holiday stay, we were a group of 5 friends and everything needed was provided with helpful owners onsite. The house is tucked away off the main road making it a peaceful spot! The kitchen is very well equipped with 2 ovens and loads of cups, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans etc. The bedrooms are lovely and well appointed! Great living room with log burner and loads of extras DVDs CDs and games. The garden is beautiful, it snowed for 10 minutes whilst in the hot tub but this was magical I can only imagine the garden area to be a brilliant place to host in the warmer months! Dont be like some people and complain about the hot tub heat or time to heat up... its a wood burner and can take time! the sauna is a lovely touch too! For those who need it the WiFi and phone signal can be hit and miss but again its the area your in and not really needed! Although phone signal was easily picked up by the gate to the house! A great stay and nothing to complain about! Cant wait to book again!
Daughters 30th Birthday weekend
Lovely gem of a find. Beautiful, clean spacious house that had everything you needed. Great fun area for the party which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Dave and his wife were great hosts and showed us where everything was. Beauful area for walks and to spend quality time with family and friends
Fantastic weekend away! I stayed here with a group of friends all just looking for somewhere to be able to have a chilled girls weekend and the coach house did not disappoint. Suzanne was lovely and helpful with any queries we had. The accommodation was very welcoming with a high level of cleanliness and the beds were very comfortable. We made the most of the chillout area even when it poured down! All the guests had a lovely weekend and had nothing but great things to say. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.
Wonderful Weekend!
What a wonderful weekend we had here at The Coach House. A group of 8 came for a hen weekend and had a fabulous time. The Coach House is a lovely property set in gorgeous countryside. We were pleasantly surprised to see some Alpacas (Diablo and Aspen) on the drive up to the property. Plenty of space for parking available out the front. The property is spacious and welcoming, and again we were surprised that so much was provided... Little touches like dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid which is very thoughtful as other properties we have visited have not provided anything at all! The rooms were all lovely and clean as were the bathrooms. Towels and bedding all provided. Complimentary crocs are provided to walk down to the chill out area and some robes can be rented for a small charge which is a great idea! We had fun and games with the hot tub and sauna area, it is a little tricky to get going but it was well worth it and we spent Saturday in and out of the tub and sauna and then had an amazing BBQ in the hut in the evening. We also loved the animals on the property. Rosie the cat is gorgeous, and Jasper and Dexter the dogs came to see us for cuddles and belly rubs. Dave and Suzanne were on hand to help if we needed anything. We will definitely be back to stay here again!

This is a beautiful place to holiday. The facilities are brilliant. I would recommend this cottage to anybody. The Hobbit house is fantastic and certainly led to a great deal of garden shed envy amongst my friends. Likewise the hot tub and sauna saw plenty of action.
Had a lovely stay. Everything was excellent. Any problems we had was sorted out straight away. Would definitely recommend.
Fabulous!
Myself and my family (9 of us) recently stayed for Christmas week, we had a great time. The Coach House exceeded all expectations. The house is beautiful, plenty of room, lovely furnishings and utilities, the chill out zone was fantastic. There were plenty of pubs, restaurants nearby, a beautiful waterfall, a dam with a huge lake, castles, horseriding and more nearby which we all took advatantage of along with my dog. At the end of the day the house was so nice to come back to with a feeling that you are well away from the hustle and bustle. We are definitely booking again.
Disappointing!
Arrived last weekend of November for a 3 night stay with 6 adults and 4 children. Upon arriving house was freezing!!!! Pictures make the house look better than it is. During the course of the weekend it became apparent that everything was extremely disappointing. Bathrooms are flushed via a septic tank so there is always a strong smell of drains throughout the property. The house was filthy. Dust in every room. Plates in the kitchen cupboards with stale food still on them. Dirty glasses. Old crisp packets found behind the headboard of one of the beds. General disregard for cleanliness throughout the property. Crocs kindly left for use to walk down to 'chillout' area. My husband put a croc on only to find a dirty wet sock inside! Jacuzzi DOES NOT WORK!!! 8 hours trying to fire it up and we gave up! All in all a brilliant weekend thanks to our friends but an extremely disappointing stay. Would not recommend this property to anyone. Do not waste your money!!!
Claire
We stayed at the coach house for an early family Christmas break, on arrival the house was very cold, there was nobody to great us and we did not know where the boiler was situated. There are notices everywhere, do not use too much internet, switch off the lights, do not exercise dogs in yard, breakages must be paid for etc etc, it was a bit concerting considering the amount we paid for a long weekend! The upstairs has been modernised and looks lovely but the down stairs bedroom was awful, the bathroom was like something out of a poor old peoples home, the grouting was dirty and it was generally scruffy. The hot tub and hut outside was magical, however dont expect to have a nice dip as it takes hours to heat up and if you leave it on it will get so hot you cant get in! A small amount of wood was supplied but this was not near enough to have the wood burner, hot tub and fire in the hut going for a day let alone a weekend. We asked the owner for extra wood and was made to feel as though we had asked for a gold coin!! Rolled eyes and said 'you should have asked this morning'. Suzanne did supply some extra wood but that also ran out and we were too scared to ask for more so went down the road for some. Be aware if you use the towels they charge and robes are supplied at a cost, I have never encountered this before. Overall we had a good time but that was only what we made it we go away every year and have already booked for 2019 we wont be staying at the Coach House. I guess in comparison to other places we have stayed over the years this did not hit the mark
The Coach house wasnt very clean upon arrival dust was on the sideboard in living room plates in the cupboard were dirty the barbecue grill was full of old food from the last time it was used there was a drinks dispenser in the barbecue hut kitchen that was full of mould. Disappointed about the cleanliness of the place and was told the hot tub would take 34 hours to heat up I was trying for 7 hours and it barely got luke warm so gave up trying. Everything else though was fine and would recommend to friends and would stay there again.
