Oak Lodge Reviews

Pamela
We thought Oak Lodge was amazing very spacious accomation for me, my husband and our dog a Miniature Schauzer. The accommodation was immaculately clean, our only critisism was that the cutlery and mugs could have been washed cleaner, but that was probably down to previous occupants we are always fastidious at cleaning such items. The location of the lodge, overlooking a lake was truely lovely, the weather was dry so we were able to use the decked area outside and Wilson our dog was absolutely fascinated watching the ducks from there. Beaconsfield Holiday Park was a lovely, very spacious site to stay on and very quiet at the end of October we'd travelled a long way to get there and happily spent the first day wandering around the site. Would thoroughly recommend Oak Lodge for a relaxing stay.

We had a wonderful holiday. The lodge was spotlessly clean when we arrived and it had all the essentials that we needed. The property was very comfortable and the hot tub was an added extra. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The grounds were immaculate and there was plenty of wildlife to see moorhens, ducks, rabbits, etc. We took a dog with us and the off lead exercise area was a real bonus. The swimming pool & changing facilities were spotless, too. The Croft restaurant had delicious food.
The lodge was lovely all inside . We Felt the hot tub seemed in the wrong place . The decking should have been continued and the hot tub placed into the decking . The bush outside the door should be got rid of and fencing made more private around the hot tub . November was too wet, the grass around the site had no drainage and the ground was bogie to walk the dog .

Really nice Lodge and superb setting.

2 larger settees would have been more comfortable, rather than the chair and small settee

It is a lovely lodge, it is well equipped with all you need, plus a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and coffee pods for the coffee machine and tea, milk and sugar to have a welcome brew. The fridge and freezer is large to stock up with beer, food and ice, and a dishwasher so no need to wash up! The bedroom and ensuite is large with plenty of storage and a TV in the bedroom. There is plenty of space in the kitchen and living area. The hot tub is private however there are chairs and table on the balcony so you can dry off and enjoy the view and ducks. Overall the lodge is clean and kitchen utensils spotless, there were a couple of cobwebs on the bedroom window, and the tap in the second toilet is a leak as there is calciumlime scale around it. The site is close to the main roadtrain track, although you drive around to get to get to it, there isnt any noise. The Croft is lovely for food, Wednesday is steak night and Thursday date night, after reading the last comment we booked but it was never full on the 3 nights we went, Saturday was busiest night, and Sunday lunch you have to book. The site is less than 3 miles from, Morrisons,Tescos and Lidl and Battlefield farm shop a mile down the road, the falconry there, is worth a visit as well. Shrewsbury is a great town to visit, and the parkandride is really good 2 per person on the bus return. We also visited Ludlow and Powis castle and garden which are both around 50 minutes drive. Overall great stay and would love to return

It was a let down to realise there was no Wifi in the cabin. I bought breakfast to cook in the cabin but Id forgot butter for toast Id searched the kitchen to find there not even the miniature butters available. Id asked the gentleman who looks after the park if there was butter I could use on site he said no Id have to travel to the spar shop which was inconvenient. The bed was comfortable however did not smell fresh. The bathroom sink had few hairs on so it was evident cleaners hadnt deep cleaned the bathroom properly prior to arrival and bathrobes were not available. We could not use the restaurant on site for breakfast lunch or dinner because we was told all fully booked. You would think the site would cater for every person on site but clearly this wasnt the case therefore we had to eat out on both nights. Inconvenient. 3 fee per person to swim in the indoor heating swimming pool ridiculous. This site was not worth the price at all let down.
I found the site well managed thats very suitable for fishermen , the lodges were of a high standard . Where they could improve is not having the hot tub continually heating up overnight and disturbing sleep ! The lodges are a bit remote so you have to use a car for everything and lastly the restaurant is open to outsiders so making a booking for us was impossible 2 days before we wanted to go , very disappointing!

We was happy with the site and lodge and fishing I payed for a week expecting to use the Bar and restaurant and swimming pool and this is what I payed for when booked when we got there the pool and bar and restaurant was closed and never opened we never even got any refund due to them being closed they could of offered us some money back but no offer was there it cost us a lot of money for our holiday and was so disappointed with the out come of our holiday wont go back

Would have liked small site shop on site for news paper and essentials such as bread and milk. The on site pub would benefit from under cover area for dog owners. The site was beautiful kept and well managed.

We have not been paid for this review. We had a fantastic stay. The accommodation was 5 star. The staff were very friendly and remembered our names. The Croft Restraurant was excellent all the staff were lovely and made you feel very welcome. Would advise a trip to the Iron BridgeGorge Bliss Victorian Village. You have to book a time slot best time would be 12pm. It was very well mapped out for social distancing etc. Our time at the cabin was lovely with the ducks in the pond in front of the cabin. We had them come up to us in the mornings. It was very peaceful. Would recommend this 100. The hottub was a lovely bonus would advise take your own towels for this. Was a great relaxing week away. Thank you. Regards Mick & Claire we will book again

Lovely peaceful holiday park, lodge clean and comfortable. Lovely area of England with plenty to see and do
The holiday park is immaculate and well kept, the lodge very spacious and clean. There is lots to do in the local area all leading to a very enjoyable holiday.
Jennifer
If taking a dog recommend wellies and plenty of towels, as site gets waterlogged when wet. The lodge is beautifully fitted out so a bit worried about muddy paws.
Beautiful location we had a very relaxing an beautiful holiday.

Staff very friendly reported light outside not working was sorted within 5 mins ... Staff very friendly reported light outside not working was sorted within 5 mins site was well maintained can not fault this site
Excellent holiday.
Myself and J thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were welcomed by a wonderfully helpful lady on reception and even though we had arrived a little early, check in was fast and painless. The park is very well managed, everywhere was clean and tidy and the absence of children means it's very quiet. It is quite close to the A49 and a railway line, but we didn't find it intrusive. There's always the ducks to distract you. I paid the housekeeping deposit by card, which was refunded a couple days after we got back. No hassles at all and its quite normal for holiday lets to ask for some sort of deposit like this. Mobile reception in the lodge was intermittent, but the wifi in the reception area worked without issue. We both agreed that limiting the digital world to a couple of cups of coffee in the reception area, added to the overall relaxation of the break. I agree with the previous reviewer's recommendations, bring big fluffy towels for the hot tub, bin liners and kitchen roll. I also agree that some hooks on the back of the bathroom and bedroom doors would useful. All in all a fabulous break and we'll be returning next year. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Oak Lodge.
This lodge was absolutely stunning! A very peaceful place to go if your looking for a quiet holiday. Having a swimming pool and steam room on site was a bonus and there is also a lake if anybody wanted to do some fishing with a small cost of 5 for the day. Our hot tub was amazing we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anybody looking for this particular holiday. Thank you so much!! The staff were very friendly and helpful had a really peaceful and chilled holiday which is all you want. Laura and Huw from South Wales

Very pleasant site. Patio doors overlook a small lake. Not many anglers . Bothy restaurant top notch. Phone and 34G signal poor. But free wi fi at reception and coffee shop. Cabin very comfortable.
Very friendly helpful staff, very well maintained and tidy park. Wonderfully peaceful break.
Tracey
Absolutely fantastic. It was that good we are returning next year. Bigger lodge this time as we are staying for 2 weeks. Already booked.
Peace and quiet. Lovely, well-kept surroundings and hubby loved the fishing!
This was very relaxing; a first class site. The staff were very helpful and friendly; having your own hot tub was a big bonus and very relaxing in all.
Very quiet & relaxing stay with good fishing & hot tub!
The site is lovely and peaceful and a beautiful setting and staff very helpful. The lodges are lovely, very warm and comfortable and heating is easily adjusted. They really are luxury lodges and beautifully appointed. Having a hot tub was a real luxury bonus! The onsite restaurant is great and the food excellent. The local village is in walking distance (quite a long walk!) and the pub does great food and the staff are very friendly. Shrewsbury is a short drive and a really lovely city.
Well maintained site . Very peaceful country setting yet still close to major routes to all local attractions.
A lovely quiet and peaceful location with great surroundings. Overall a lovely holiday escape.
We loved the high standard of the holiday park, the hot tub and extremely comfortable and high standard log cabin.
It was perfect.
