Set within stunning countryside, this wonderful, detached house is the perfect rural retreat for groups of friends or families. Just 9 miles from the edge of Eryri National Park, guests can enjoy both the sprawling countryside and nearby towns. Visit the historic market town of Bala (10 miles), where you’ll find an array of walking routes, a narrow-gauge railway, a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, and the National White Water Centre – where you can experience the excitement of a ride along the rapids. Head to Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfalls, 4 miles away, which falls in three stages over a 73-metre cliff. Lake Vyrnwy (4 miles) is another great place for walking or cycling, taking in the scenery and spotting wildlife. For something different, visit the museum or walk along the canal in Welshpool, 12 miles away, or explore the National Trust’s medieval Powis Castle, 22 miles away.
Breathe in the fresh air and admire the extraordinary scenery as you approach this gorgeous, whitewashed farmhouse, which dates to the 17th century. Head up the hill, through the gates and along the drive to reach this unique and atmospheric getaway, a perfect place to escape and unwind. Step into the spacious hallway, where the scene is immediately set with original flagstone floors, rugged exposed beams and beautiful antique furnishings. From here, head into the kitchen/diner, the heart of the home, which has soft seating by the ornamental inglenook fireplace and an array of equipment for the chef of the group. They’ll have everything they need to prepare delicious meals for everyone to enjoy around the farmhouse-style dining table, which seats up to 8 people. After dinner, you can take it easy and relax in the lounge, where there’s a choice of seating gathered around an open fire. Sit back and read a book (perhaps one of the many rare and antique volumes in the landing library or scattered around the house). or host a singsong around the piano. Head upstairs to spend the evening watching a movie on the Smart TV, or for anyone feeling a little more active, there’s table football in the hall. Also on this floor is a delightful double bedroom, as well as two bathrooms – a family bathroom with a handsome roll-top bath, and a contemporary shower room with pretty mosaic tiling. The remaining three bedrooms are upstairs: a super-king-size, a double and a bunk-bed room all with exposed beams and lovely views to wake up to.
Outside, make the most of the views from the garden from sunrise to sunset. Light the charcoal BBQ and grill a delicious dinner, or soak in the hot tub as you watch the stars come out. You’ll have private parking for two cars, and a rack to lock your bikes up, too. All in all, this is a magical property to holiday in, with lots of space to create memories that will last the whole year through.
