An impressive country house set in the heart of the breathtaking Borrowdale Valley, Leathes Head Country House offers a truly special escape in one of the Lake District’s most beautiful locations. Surrounded by panoramic views of rolling fells, ancient woodlands, and the glistening waters of Derwentwater, this Edwardian residence blends timeless charm with modern comfort, creating the perfect setting for a memorable stay.
A sweeping driveway leads up to the house, which sits proudly within three acres of private grounds, built from local slate to complement its stunning natural surroundings. From the moment you arrive, the sense of space and tranquillity is undeniable, making it a wonderful place to relax and reconnect with nature.
Inside, the house is welcoming and thoughtfully designed. The large entrance hall leads to a spacious and comfortable living room, where a wood-burning stove provides warmth after a day exploring the fells.
Just off the hallway, a dark and sophisticated cocktail bar, reminiscent of a traditional gentleman’s club, offers the perfect spot to mix a drink and unwind in style. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need for a self-catered stay, while the adjoining conservatory dining room, with seating for twelve, is a wonderful space to gather for meals, share stories, and plan the next day’s adventures.
A flamboyant downstairs toilet adds a touch of personality and saves the extra trip upstairs when needed. From the grand staircase, five beautifully designed bedrooms await, each with a super-king-size bed that can be converted into twin beds on request.
Every bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom, complete with a bath, basin, and WC, offering both privacy and comfort. Wake up to breathtaking views of the fells, woodland, or Derwentwater—every window frames a picture-perfect scene of the Lake District.
