Honestly, our stay was quite a letdown. The place is right on a busy main road, so itâ€™s super noisy with trucks and buses passing all the time. The cleanliness was pretty poor-dirty dishes in the cupboard, stained toiletand the shower was grimy. Floors looked unwashedand there was hair and marks on the bedding. No welcome pack or dog treats like they promised. The garden was overgrownand the furniture was disgusting. We tried contacting the owner, but no reply at all. Not great!

Also, the photos make the place look a lot bigger than it actually is, which was a bit disappointing. Other guests seem happy, so maybe itâ€™s just not for us this time.

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour.
