Quirky Cottage Kemplay Foot Reviews

The cottage is in a brilliant location to explore the Lakes and further afield. Plenty to do from the cottage itself. Both pubs within walking distance are dog friendly, childrens play areas and good food. Cottage itself is lovely- it lives up to its name. Plenty of space and warm and cosy. Kitchen equipment basic but sufficient.

The cottage was really good, great location, really enjoyed stay, nice and relaxed and great walks for the dog. The parking at the front of the house was ok, car perfectly safe, just leave enough room for people passing.

Lovely cottage, great amenities, fantastic location. We did have an issue with the hot tub but, the owner was very accomodating. Well worth a stay .

Aesthetically the cottage is lovely. The road its on was busier than anticipated but manageable. Hot tub was excellent and well used during our stay. Had a wonderful stay. We had a cosy stay would highly recommend booking this cosy cottage. The hot tub was a super addition to the stay and what a way to relax after a hike. The bed is super comfy and considering how old the property is, the place was warm the whole time. It was the perfect stay for our birthdays.

Cottage is beautiful, has every home comfort you need. Beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. Lovely well equipped cottage. Clean and comfortable. Very busy road which we were aware of from earlier comments but the secondary glazing makes a massive difference. Nice view out the back and great location. Pooley Bridge is a lovely place to visit. Aira Force waterfalls great day out.

Great to have all the little extra touches at the cottage which were very thoughtful
Catriona
Lovely cottage in a central location with easy access to the Lakes. Had everything you could want and was decorated to a high standard. The boys loved the den/reading nook and was perfect for our family break with our two wee dogs.
Hayley
Beautiful place and done out so lovely. Definitely recommend staying
Fiona
Excellent holiday in this lovely cottage - well maintained, lovely decor. Great links to Pooley Bridge and Penrith, loads to see and do around the area. Parking is a little tricky as the space on the pavement directly in front of the cottage, immediately off the main road.
Claire
A beautifully renovated cottage which is very comfortable & has everything you need. Lots of little touches & attention to detail making it a home from home. The windows are great at keeping the noise levels down & the garden is perfect for our 4 legged family members.
Rebecca
The cottage has everything you could possibly need. Really comfy beds, beautifully furnished and lovely views in the garden. I was a little nervous of the busy road with our 6month old daughter sleeping, but she was fine, the windows are fully glazed to stop the noise. Great location to get about, highly recommend Lowther Castle
Keri
Lovely cottage, really good standard. Lovely neighbour to the left. Comfy beds, slept lovely. Better than expected. Noise wasnt as bad as expected from the road. Good location to many brilliant areas of the lakes
Alison
Fabulous cottage with everything little detail thought of for our stay. The only minor complain would be the traffic noise.
Emma
We all had a lovely stay at the cottage. Nice, clean and cosy. We did have issues with the hob - not the easiest to work out. Also, the main road is right outside. Rowena
A great base for the Lakes, no question. But I wouldn't have booked if I'd known it was on the A6. And I also feel that the photos are a bit deceptive in terms of the amount of space overall. Other guests have been very pleased so I'm sorry to be less so but this didn't quite live up to expectations.
Fiona
This is an incredibly beautiful and comfortable cottage, but perhaps not for anyone whose priorities are quiet and privacy. We were out walking every day and the location gave us great access to the northern Lakes so the busy road didnt overly bother us.
Lorraine
Quirky cottage was beautifully presented and had nearly everything you could possibly need. It was our first family holiday with Indy (our dog) and we had an absolutely fabulous time. The local field by the river was amazing for our morning and evening walks with Indy enjoying a paddle in the river. The doggy towel was a nice touch and came in veryRead more handle to dry off his wet paws. It is a shame that the cottage is located on such a busy road, which is very noisy in the morning. Hide
Raymond
A lovely, well decorated property. A good base to see the local attractions. It's probably not suitable for very young children, those who are infirm or light sleepers. The cottage, as the name suggests, is quirky and the stairs might be tricky for some. The main road is noisy and and creates privacy issues.
Mark
A fabulous place to stay. Has everything we needed. 10/10. We will be back. Thank you!

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP

This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 19 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
