The Croft Reviews

Lovely location, quiet with easy access to the lake. Minor niggles no kitchen scissors or tin opener, main bathroom shower drain slightly blocked, quite a few spidercob webs in the roof space. On suite bedroom could do with curtains not vertical blinds. Gutters could do with cleaning. The house next door was occupied over the weekend but the occupants were not rowdy so lucky there as the building are close to each other.
Unfortunately like others the house next door was occupied at the weekend so we couldnt use the hot tub due to the noise of the neighbours next door. The property was okay. Lots of cobwebs. We had to wash the crockery plates, dishes and cups as they were put back all dirty. Please note you only get six cups, six plates, six dishes etc so if you use them once and put them in dishwasher you have to inevitably have to hand wash them as not enough available. The house was nicely decorated. When lifting the plug in both showers they were so mouldy. My daughter and partner had to move out of the bedroom by the lounge as I think the springs had gone in the mattress. No other problems with anything else. Good WiFi, Tv worked and all electrical items worked. Fantastic views from the house. Thank you for the Prosecco and dog biscuits.
Outside lights not working. Missing blinds in bedroom blackout curtains needed. Oven tray not fit in oven . Cobwebs in apex and beams. Overall nice holiday accommodation has plenty of space inside and out.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Very clean , excellent facilities and thoughtful welcome pack appreciated. Major downside is not being aware The Croft is next door to a party house , so we were kept awake by 10 revellers in their 2 hot tubs with only a flimsy and see through fence between us . Thankfully they only stayed 2 nights but long enough to put us off booking again no point driving 3 hours to a rural retreat to feel youve just arrived at a nightclub! . A shame as it is a beautiful spot and would have returned otherwise.

This is our second time staying at The Croft and absolutely loved it. The property is a lovely spot to come back to after walking for hours every day, whether it be the lakemereswaters or hills nearby. The welcome pack is a nice treat as means you can have a cuppa or coffee after a long drive & the bottle of Prosecco was very appreciated too. Plenty of firewood to get the fire going & the property is well heated throughout. The only minor improvement that could be made is some hooks by the hot tub, to hang up towelsdressing gowns and keep them dry, other than that we really do not have a single complaint. Were already looking at when we are next coming back! For anyone that visits the Croft we can recommend the following pubsfood places which were great with the dogs The Sun Inn super friendly, good pub food & the staff could not be more helpful in providing local recommendations. The Coledale Inn huge portion sizes, lovely food & dog friendly The Bistro the lakes distillery dog friendly in the outdoor seating section. Food was great & you can sample the locally distilled whiskeys, gins or vodkas. If you use an app called AllTrails, we did the following routes which we could recommend Dodd Wood Circular Buttermere Circular Barrow Fell Circular Sale Fell Circular

Some of the outside lights not working, fence between properties not very private when in hot tub and a few of the blinds in bedroom 1 damaged or missing. Only small things which didn't spoil our holiday. 5 thanks
Excellent cottage and location. Would recommend and return in the future. Small negative is the hot tub set up, if the neighbours were using their hot tub at the same time, their would be very little privacy, luckily it wasn't an issue for our stay. The outside light also needs changing as it's on and off all night if you are staying in the 1 bedroom off the lounge, something that can be easily fixed. Real cosy feel to the cottage but spacious too with a view towards the lake, lovely set up
Motion lights on and off all night kept me a awake

We had a lovely stay at the cottage however we felt there could be some slight improvements. The kitchen utensils need to be checked. The roasting trays were rusty, tin opener did not work & some items listed on the itinerary were missing. The cottage was comfortable and we loved the access to the lake.
Philip
From the moment we booked to the time we left this place was just fantastic. The cottage was beautiful, the area just as lovely. It was very quiet, we briefly saw owls, then a hare on the patio, we felt that we were properly away from it all which was just what we wanted. The cottage was very well thought out, well equipped and very comfortable. The owners left a couple of bottles of beer and some Prosecco, some stuff for our dogs, very nice and much appreciated gestures. We loved it there. There was a tv in all 3 bedrooms as well as the lounge, the open plan kitchen lounge was awesome with multiple choice lighting options, so well thought out. The stroll down to Bassenthwaite lake was just so lovely. We couldnt possibly have enjoyed this place anymore than what we did. Utterly fantastic, we really hope to come again some time.

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 1 Mile
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 13 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 19 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
