This is a big, beautiful house with a great view of Windermere. The easiest way to get to the lake is to drive a mile or so to Millerground. The house is well-equipped with everything the chef could want and some nice jigsaws for wetter days. The garden is large, well-enclosed and safe for your dog. Just WOW! What a fantastic property. Stayed there with my family, there was 8 of us and it is lovely and spacious for everyone. Brilliant location for everywhere, however you feel like your miles away as the ground as so big and beautiful. It just felt like home from home and we were all sad to leave. We had our 2 dogs with us too and they lived th e freedom as its all fenced in and very secure. My sons all have paddle boards and it is so near to the lake for this. Wouldnt hesitate to go back.

This is a wonderful house for family gatherings and celebrations -no expense has been spared in making it the perfect place to relax in real luxury! We particularly loved the fabulous well equipped spacious kitchen with AGA. Lovely bed linen and towels which make such a difference. The huge garden is quite stunning with azaleas and rhododendrons. W e loved the big lawn for childrens games and fabulous decking on different levels for the lake views. A peaceful haven! 5 stars for everything!!

Beautifully presented, very well equipped traditional large lakeside house in a quiet, beautiful area of Windermere. Watch out for the badger that comes to hoover up the bird food around the bird feeder in the back garden! It helps if you are used to cooking on an Aga. All in all we had a superb week! Would come again anytime.

Absolutely gorgeous, light and roomy house, in a wonderful position near the lake with a raised decking area with fabulous views. The house was spotless, very well equipped, and lovely comfortable beds. The gardens are lovely, we were fascinated by the different birds visiting the feeders. The hot tub was an added bonus, very relaxing after days ou t, there is plenty to see and do in the local area. There is also a lovely friendly pub just 10 minutes walk away. Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years. There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk. For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families. Corporate groups are also well catered for.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

about 15 Miles

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction. With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun. You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes. Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money. There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ

about 21 Miles

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
