Roe Deer Reviews

Sharon
We found the property clean and spacious and in a great location. The hot tub was lovely. The free swim at the spa was really good & we paid to go again. The welcome pack , hand soap & toilet rolls was appreciated. We enjoyed our stay but had a few issues. The beds were not comfortable & even the children complained they could feel the springs. The pillows were so thin you couldnt sit up in the bed without your head falling through the slated headboard. The oven had no instructions but the maintenance man provided them quickly, however the temperature numbers had worn out so we had to guess. He did take photos to report it. We also had an issue with hot water tap in the bedroom with the bath. It wouldnt turn off correctly . The maintenance man advised it needed a plumber & we couldnt use it. No one came during our stay. Only one key was provided for the property, 2 would have been helpful with a party of 6. Hopefully these issues will get sorted as its a lovely property.
Very cheap cutlery and thin mattresses that you could feel the springs through. Heating system needs looking into, as the boiler kept firing up throughout the night, even with thermostat turned down. There was no information about adjusting the heating apart from a sign saying don't change anything.

A beautiful property in a lovely, quiet location. Easy access to the A1. The property was bigger than it looked from the outside so we had plenty of space. It had everything we could need. There is a fantastic pub a few minutes walk away. What more could we ask for?!
Pamela
Generous welcome pack. A couple of minor maintenance problems which were promptly resolved following a phone call. Good info provided on how to obtain any advice or help. Excellent facilities in the cottage and the village community. Lovely meals at the pub and enjoyed the takeaway service provided by The Schoolhouse. Comfy, spacious bedrooms. Lots of kitchen storage space. 3 ensuite bathrooms large and modern. Lots of thoughtful extras hooks near the door for coats and dog leads, mirrors, shelves in the bathrooms, tasteful furnishings. Cant recommend highly enough.

This property is really lovely and extremely quiet in a pretty area. All the places around are ideal for pleasant days out. The beach at Berwick on Tweed is beautiful. All pubs in the area are very nice, food good and staff and customers all very friendly . The only 2 negatives with the cottage were the pans were unusable, had had the non stick surfaces destroyed with metal utensils. One phone call to the lovely lady and they were replaced within 12 hour with lots of apologies. She thanked us for suggesting silicone utensils for future use and also to provide plastic drinking vessels for the hot tub. Would strongly recommend these cottages .
Last minute booking proved to be a lovely surprise. Clean, spacious and exactly as described online.
Property was well presented and well equipped it provided everything we needed.
This property is a great size layout, super comfy beds, garden fenced in for dogs. Great location in the village. The owner is super helpful and friendly. Would definitely book again. Don't want to say anymore as we don't want it to be fully booked next time we want to stay!
Had a fantastic time. Every thing we needed was in the cottage.

Alnwick Castle and Gardens - NE66 1NQ
about 10 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 17 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Conundrum Farm - EX5 3AQ
about 19 Miles
With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
