Daisy's Retreat Reviews

Lovely place booked for husbands 40th we was happy with what we got very ... Lovely place booked for husbands 40th we was happy with what we got very comfortable weekend after we finely got in after the 2 and a half with the misshap of the pincode but after that it was all OK
Pleasant holiday home which was a good base for us to explore the local area. Lovely touch with a welcome gift and enjoyed the hot tub, although some basic instructions would have been helpful. Would have been useful to have a few more hooks or a smaller airer inside for drying towels, and felt the instruction folder could have had a lot more information in it regarding local areaamenities, as well as WiFi password. Unfortunately we had no access to WiFi for the duration of the stay which with 2 teenagers was an inconvenience & while not the end of the world this did impact on trying to make plans for our time there. We arrived on a Sunday and contacted Skyes first thing Monday. They did not reply until Thursday afternoon and offered no apology for the delay and sent just a standard response which was not specific to Daisys retreat, suggesting that we check the router andor ask at main reception which we had already done prior to contacting them. So while I would stay again at Daisys retreat, I would not book through Skyes cottages again for their very poor customer service.

Very disappointed. Filthy veranda and badly stained deck chair with another chair broken. A Jacuzzi with a scum line and grimy so we didn't use it. Two stains on the settee. Rusty radiators which left brown marks on the towels. A kitchen sink that leaked into the cupboard below which soaked our belongings in there. The shower leaked onto the bathroom floor too. I can send pictures if you want them. I appreciate there is nothing the owner can do about the pine needles that were in the jacuzzi, in our food, in our feet etc etc but with a two year old with us it was not ideal at all, we spent most of the holiday sweeping and hoovering.

Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Alnwick Castle and Gardens - NE66 1NQ

Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT
about 21 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
