Swang Cottage Reviews

Andrea
Absolutely gorgeous cozy cottage in very picturesque location, Rosie was just lovely and made us feel very welcome x
Nice little cottage on the Yorkshire Moors. Lots of places to visit within an hours drive. Quite isolated and about 25 mins from nearest supermarket. Very peaceful. Never been asked to strip the beds before an 11.00am departure would have been better as no time for a good breakfast before leaving !!
Louise
We have had a wonderful time staying at Swang Cottage. We went for a restful time. The Cottage was perfect. The surrounding countryside was beautiful. It was very well equipped. Everything thought about. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful wood burning stove. Very cosy. Hot tub amazing. Even robes we're provided. Wine eggs milk crisps and cookies also provided. We will be back.
The cottage was lovely, the views werr amazing. The hot tub was divine at the end of the day. The only negative was the shower takes a while to warm up. But that comes with the territory of an old cottage. Rosie the owner is lovely, and had thought of everything for us and our stay. We would definitely stay again
Elaine
Lovely relaxing cottage. There were 2 adults and dog. Enough room for us. Welcome supplies in the fridge a bonus especially the bottle of fizz. I managed with the be patient shower for hot water. Out of Rosies control due to location I believe. Straight out of cottage and onto the moor. Hot tub was lovely to relax in especially after a long walk. Enjoyable week away from everyday life. Thank you Rosie
A very sweet and amazingly well equipped little cottage out in the middle of nowhere in N Yorkshire. Inside, the ground floor is perfect. Cosy main room with comfy sofas, large fire, good furniture. Rosie clearly likes hearts. We counted 41 in this room alone ! Good kitchen with everything and more one could expect. And another dinning? room we never used. Unfortunately the much smaller 1st floor is not so good. 2 tiny bedrooms and a tiny bathroom is silly. Enough room for 1 reasonable sized bedroom and a bathroom? We used the twin room as a dressing room. Could never recommend as a 2 couples cottage. Getting in a hot tub in a hot tub at the end of a winter's day out is of course always sublime. The garden is ideal for a dog. Would we stay again ? Inside the cottage definitely Yes. But it was just too isolated, meaning getting in the car every day. Loads of good walks around, but none close enough to set off directly from the cottage.

13th to 20th October 23 . The cottage was lovely very clean and has everything you need and more . The hot tub was perfect and it's nice to have a roof over it for the rainy days . Rosie the owner is lovely very helpful and the views in and around the cottage are absolutely stunning its right on the moors and so peaceful. I loved staying at swang cottage and can't wait to go back next year . I have reviewed it on Google and added my own pics which I feel are way better than the pics on here . They really don't do the cottage justice

Lovely stay at Swang cottage. Perfect location. Pleasant cottage. Rosie was very nice. Would definitely recommend to others.
Superb Cottage, well equipped with everything you could ever need and situated in a peaceful location with outstanding views of the Countryside. The owner really has thought of everything. The property is beautifully decorated and the hot tub is perfect for unwinding in after a days walking in the amazing countryside. Myself, hubby, daughter & two dogs had an amazing few days at Swang Cottage. We cant thank Rosie enough for our wonderful stay, we only wish wed booked in for longer. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Richard
Excellent cottage, nice quiet location and fantastic views across the valley, tight for space upstairs and poor water pressure in the shower but otherwise a fantastic holiday cottage.
Michael
We have done many hot tub breaks, and this was the worst of them. Cottage downstairs was ok, but very small and cramped upstairs, back yard was very untidy with dead leaves and pine needles everywhere, first night there after a day out cottage was very cold and had to use blankets, when i spoke to owner I had to investigate the boiler which after a promt from me it transpired that someone had turned the radiator temp down, something that should have been checked before handover to us. No welcome pack upon arrival, a first for us, a a big no no. And first time in hot tub there is nowhere to secure the lid other than lean it up against posts, which to my surprise the wind blew it down and landed on my head, as i was on my own at this point, i perish the thought of what would have happened if it had knocked me out! Instead i suffered a very sore neck and shoulders for the duration, and even now, 3 weeks after it is still sore. Glad we only booked it for a long weekend
We had a lovely couple of nights at swang cottage. It was really peaceful and quiet. The cottage has everything you need. The beds were very comfy and overall we had a good couple of nights sleep. Rosie is a very good host and was very helpful. We made the most of the hot tub to relax at the end of the day. We enjoyed our stay but would have liked it to have been longer. Would definitely return.
Miranda
We had a lovely stay in Swang Cottage with our five month old puppy, who loved exploring the moors and beaches of North Yorkshire. The cottage is well equipped and cosy and owner Rosie is more than helpful. A fullyenclosed garden meant peace of mind for us, as new dogowners. We watched some beautiful sunsets from the living room and marvelled at the stars from the hot tub. You can walk from the cottage right onto the moors and there is great walking from Glaisdale and the nearby villages. We will absolutely be back.
Cora Linn
Absolutely amazing stay, it was like a home from home and we couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely be back! The log burners made it so cosy. Watching shooting stars from the hot tub was definitely a highlight, the dark skies are incredible.
Christopher
Rosie presented a beautiful cottage for our holiday it was everything we hoped it would be and more and Rosie and her family are so helpful and kind. The location is amazing and so relaxing and quiet and the cottage is beautiful and homely. We would definitely return in the future.
Loved our stay at swang cottage, so quiet and felt so at home there, hot tub was fab, even on the days it was over 30 degrees, I had mentioned to Rosie we were having a bbq and the next day a brand new shinny bbq was left for us, definitely recommend this cottage, our dogs loved the garden and walks onto the moors, thank you Rosie!
The cottage and scenery was amazing! The host Rosie is lovely. The cottage had everything you would need and want. There are some lovely walks and a lovely little pub in the village. The hot tub was amazing, but ensure you are aware the price you pay is not the final price if you want use of the hot tub and if you want to bring a pet. We used booking.com Overall, we have had a wonderful stay. Thank you.
Lovely cottage & facilities. Would love to stay again
The owner Rosie rang me on the day of the holiday to tell me there was no heating she provided a small electric heater which only kept one room warm she also said she controlled the heating on her phone. on our arrival she complained about how much it cost to run the hot tub and also about how much Sykes Cottages take from what we paid. most of the pans were not cleaned so I had to wash up before most things could be used, the hot tub steps were full of leaves and had to be swept. I am sending this feed back from home as we left at Tuesday dinner absolute disaster is all i can describe it as .
Really nice & cosy cottage Rosie has everything you need. The view from the front window is amazing the whole area is so beautiful and so peaceful.
Joanne
Gorgeous cottage set in a peaceful village. Cottage is very well catered for and the hot tub is great to relax in. Good sized private garden not overlooked. Off road parking outside the cottage is ideal. The WiFi was really good too. Would highly recommend getting shopping delivered upon arrival, as the nearest general shop and butchers are a 1015 mins walk into the village, and the pub is a mile away. Great location for visiting the coastal villages.
Kenneth
Rosie made us feel welcome from the start and we had a great time there. Cant think of anything we would change, I'm 6'3and the beds were no problem, I even managed the doorways quite well, it's a cottage I expected things to be different , but coped with the height.i would say that Rosie covered most things I could think of , log fire starter kit and central heating, all big pluses, after a day out. We loved it , definatly repeatable , cant thank Rosie enough for sharing her cottage with us for a week..
Beutiful cottage as described. Stunning location with wonderful walks. Cosy log fire and hot tub perfect for a winter break! Rosie the owner very attentive and helpful Will be back!
Andrew
Thank you for our lovely stay in the really quaint cottage on the edge of Glaisdale. Nice people in the village at the shop and wood supplier close to the cottage and Rosie the owner was really helpful. We visited with our 13 yr old son and WIFI was great signal for his gaming! Cottage is fab with hot tub and we loved the log burner. Fab little warm and bright room with dining table in it for mealtimes and nice kitchen. I forgot Tea towels and oven gloves but bought some nr Saltburn on one of our adventures out and about. It is no secret the beds and bathroom are small but we managed. We slept in the single beds, which are pushed together and son slept in small double and we were all comfy. Beds looked custom made for rooms and very high. Lovely place
A very pleasant venue at any time of the year. A great base to walk from when exploring the Esk Valley and having the delight of returning to the hot tub.
In general very clean but bathroom has some mould in shower the heater in bathroom has dust but the rest of the house perfect. In other properties lets via your company we have had the basics provided such as oil and salt which we didnt here . There was tea and coffee provided though and dog bowls Plates pansutensils etc were perfect. Hot tub lovely and downstairs amazing upstairs we slept in twin room as main bedroom bed too small but we knew about this. Host was not available when we checked in but was great on the phone to make sure we knew how to get to the house but then persisted in wanting to come later to we did not need further assistance when she came she was lovely but we did not need we felt we couldnt start cookingrelaxing etc In all the location and the cottage is amazing. Just the petty eye of hoteliers we would recommend this place.
Beverley
What a gorgeous little cottage for the most cosy stay in the Yorkshire countryside. Rosie is lovely and met us on arrival to give us a quick overview of everything and assured us she was on hand if we needed anything during our stay which we didnt as everything was super straight forward. The location is perfect for walks and local pubs and the views are amazing. The hot tub and log burner are perfect to end a day of exploring, we really didnt want to leave. The only thing Id say is that the bedrooms are quite a bit smaller than they look on the photos but its really not an issue and we slept really well during our stay I would say it would probably a bit tight for four guests though even though there are two rooms as we ended up using one room to store all our belongings. We will definitely be visiting Swang Cottage again and definitely recommend for a relaxing break.
Angela
This should have been our 3rd visit to Swang Cottage but just the same as everyone else due to the pandemic our January 2021 had to be transferred. Nevertheless our 2022 holiday was just perfect. I am a warden on a caravan park and all we like to do is chill for two weeks and this was just that. Rosie is the perfect host, nothing is too much trouble a phone call is all that is needed if you need anything. You have everything you need as regards facilities, the two log burners are a bonus, warm and cozy and ofcourse the hot tub was used every day! The views are spectacular from the front window and the addition of the fenced off garden was an added bonus not having to worry about letting the dog out in the dark. Looking forward to January 2023 for 2 more weeks to relax. Thank you Rosie x Angie and Jim
Michelle
We had a fabulous stay. The cottage was immaculate throughout, everything you needed. The meet and greet was very good and Rosie on hand if you needed her. Would definitely go back and recommend.
Claire
We visited Swang cottage for a long weekend with 2 children and a small dog. Everybody enjoyed their stay, cottage was lovely and clean with everything you could think of provided. Hot tub was a welcome after long walks on the Moors. Set in a beautiful location lots of things and places to see.

Just had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage views from the front are stunning hot tub is very welcome after a long day out cottage is really homely totally enjoyed our stay and would definitely love to come back
Cottage in a good location, however, dont feel that photos do the cottage justice. We was disappointed and felt the cottage lacked some TLC. We found a few faults that we felt could be rectified inside the cottage. Some of the lights werent working in the lounge, the garden had weeds and dead flowers and also a table that looked like it had been dumped there with the chairs around the side. Barbecue was filthy and we didnt see a fire pit which apparently was advertised. Lights around the hot tub didnt work, 2.plug sockets in the lounge not properly fixed to the wall. In the double bedroom there was 2 fittings handles on the wardrobe missing which resulted in a screw sticking out. TV would only work on catch up. No live TV. Would we come back again ?? NO. We only stayed due to the good weather .

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 13 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 16 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 18 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 18 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 19 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 19 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 22 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
