Snave Cottage Reviews

The standard of everything is excellent, which made for a wonderful stay. We met Gerry who was super helpful and very knowledgeable about the history. Amazing welcome pack which was much appreciated We had an excellent nights sleep in super comfy beds. It is so peaceful and calm with stunning views overlooking the reservoir and beyond. Have already booked for next year.
This is a delightful cottage in a stunning and semiisolated location. It's perfect for friends and families or as a romantic retreat. I took my dad there for a few days and my sisters joined us for a night. I was blownaway by the whole place, as were my family members. The welcome pack was really excellent and meant we could stay in and get ourselves settled comfortably before going out and exploring. Our host, Jerry, was lovely. We really did want for nothing. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Snave Cottage is a delight, it is just like the photos. Incredibly tasteful, cosy and well equipped. The location is breathtaking, instantly lifts your spirits. Jerry is super attentive, has great local knowledge, and very encouraging of our dogs having the best stay too and enjoying themselves on the many walking options. Grassington is the closest village for provisions, 10 mins by car, and plenty of dog friendly pubs serving food either until 1400, or all day, could have stayed another 4 days!!!
Absolutely fantastic stay. The cottage is brilliant throughout, wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Great location if you want a break away from the stresses of modern life. Accommodation was perfect, wanting for nothing on the comfort side. Totally isolated & tranquil. Looking to book another break at Grimworth in the future.

We had beautiful stay at Snave cottage, very homely. The views over the Grimwith Reservoir were amazing, you wont find anything else like this! Jerry was excellent when we arrived making us feel very welcome. Thank you! The welcome hamper an arrival was a lovey touch and the hot tub was an added bonus which Jerry ensured was ready for us each day! Thank you for a peaceful & tranquil weekend. We booked all 3 properties together for a getaway with friends and had the best stay on Grimwith Reservoir. The properties themselves were spotless on arrival, and exactly as described on the listing. Jerry was very helpful and always on hand if we had any questions or wanted advice, and also got the hot tubs nice and hot for our arrival. We had everything we needed already there meaning we only had to bring clothes, food and drink, and the welcome hamper was also a nice touch. The location itself is amazing with a nice walking route around the reservoir and also longer routes to nearby villages where we found some great local pubs, shops and takeaways. This is my second time visiting this property and definitely wont be the last. It really does cater for all and cannot recommend it enough!
The cottage has a shared courtyard with the other properties so be mindful if you have a dog that is nervous with other dogs as they will see each other. A very lovely peaceful place to stay and very comfortable. Very relaxing, a big sky to look at, fresh air and quiet. Jerry the caretaker is so lovely we had a vole in the bathroom when we arrived and he helped us very quick dont leave the front door open when you are in the hot tub as thats maybe how it got in! Super friendly people wherever you go.
Nadine
What a lovely cottage and ideal location. We could find absolutely no fault with the property, it was spacious, very clean and a 'home away from home'. It had all the amenities we could wish for, including a very welcome welcome hamper on our arrival. The lovely Jerry met us on our arrival and gave some very good advice on the area, places to see etc. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning in the future.
What a simply wonderful cottage and holiday. It was our first ever cottage holiday and we loved every minute. Gerry made us feel very welcome, provided a great hamper of goodies and helped us out with some tips and info. The cottage was modern, cozy and so relaxing with the hot tub we used it every night. The location is simply stunning and an amazing place to escape to and enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by nature. Plus added bonus nearby are some of the best cafes and pubs weve ever visited. Were already planning our next stay at the cottage and cant wait to return.
Superb cottage, so comfortable, well equipped and homely. Truly dog friendly, our dogs enjoyed their holiday as much as we did! The location is unbeatable with peace and quiet , beautiful views and an abundance of wildlife. The welcome hamper was really beneficial and having all the basics available from arrival made such a relaxed start to our break. The hot tub had much use and was a real extra touch of luxury. Jerry was so helpful and welcoming. We cannot recommend Snaves cottage highly enough and will definitely be back as there is so much more to explore in this beautiful area of the Dales .
Richard
We love visiting Snave Cottage this was our 4th visit and will be rebooking for 2025. Jerry is very helpful and responsive should issues or queries arise, although he was unable to do anything about the Yorkshire weather this year!
Edward
Really great property with friendly, helpful management staff. Properly dog friendly with no long list of nonoes. Highly recommend.
What an absolute find in a gorgeous setting away from everyone! We loved it our new home in the Dales! Service was spot on thanks Jerry and the cottage was as advertised. Lovely hamper packed with goodies when we arrived and bread, bacon and fizz in the fridge too. When we needed a lighter and more firelighters for the fire we had them pretty much immediately. Cottage was clean to a high standard and literally everything we would need to enjoy the week in complete peace. The only drawbacks would be and these are minor as some are just my preference The very soft mattress which was not good for an aging back like mine and the space between the mattress and bed in the main bedroom was a bit bigger than expected. A new mop bucket needed there was a crack in the top which made it difficult to wring the mop out! Additionally the front door was difficult to close properly but Jerry was aware and in the process of changing this similarly with one of the windows in the main area, water came in when the heavy rain hit and he is aware of this too. Our dogs loved the place and they are a large breed. Perfect setting for them but perhaps some sort of mat from the courtyard into the main bedroom to ensure carpets are not ruined. We took lots of towels to dry their feet etc but in the end didn't let them out that way just to be on the safe side! We will definitely return as soon as we can! A home from home for sure! The perfect setting to really get away from everything and get back to nature!
From arrival to the departure, there is nothing I can fault. This was our 2nd time staying here. This time, we hired all 3 houses as a family get together. The welcome packs in each house were amazing, with everything you needed. Jerry was great, calling to check we had all got in ok, and there is we needed anything during our stay. Thankyou again, we will be back soon!
A luxurious holiday cottage on the edge of the reservoir, such a peaceful location with stunning views. The hosts are easily contactable and incredibly helpful. The cottage is well stocked theyve thought of everything! Lots of fabulous walks to do from the door step. The charming Grassington and Pateley Bridge both have EV chargers in their main car parks are a short car journey away with lots of dog friendly cafes.
We had a great stay at Snave Cottage. Warm, comfortable, clean cottage with generous welcome hamper and an amazing view over the reservoir. Couldn't have asked for more and exactly what we were after. Lovely walk around the reservoir right on the doorstep, keeping an eye out for the resident barn owls a highlight. If you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet and to get away from it all for a week, would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back ourselves.
Idyllic Location with Style
An isolated location adjacent to the reservoir with all the mod-cons. Stave cottage is part of 3 holiday cottages that have been tastefully converted from a farmhouse, barn and stables. Stave Cottage is the old stables and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Everything is new as they have only recently been completed. We stayed as 2 couples and the place was very inviting from the moment we arrived. The central heating works well and the log burner is excellent. The beds are so comfortable. On arrival there was a picnic hamper stuffed with goodies that were much appreciated but very fattening. There are many Pros to staying in Stave Cottage and just a couple of suggestion Cons The Cons first (and these are just suggestions) Although the kitchen is fully equipped it would have been great to have had a couple of plastic bowls to use in the microwave. There needs to also be some melamine/plastic glasses to use in the hot tub. The bedrooms would benefit from a small wardrobe as the only hanging space is on the back of the door. Not having a dinning table makes eating a little less romantic as you have to squeeze around the breakfast bar meaning you eat next to the sink. Very social but not ideal. Maybe a coffee table would also benefit for playing board games. A couple of cushions for the outdoor chairs. A bag of kindling alongside the firestarters would be helpful. These are all minor things but may help. The Pros: There are too many to mention but the location is fantastic. Almost everything you need is provided and the hamper was a great unexpected pleasure. Everything is tastefully decorated and well finished with great beds. The showers are powerful and the water hot and plentiful. Having an integrated dishwasher made life easy. The hot tub can be a little difficult to light and takes a while to heat up but is worth the effort. The views are spectacular and as a location to base yourself for the surrounding areas it is ideal. We loved the place and would return in a heartbeat. Owners, you have done yourself proud.
Claire
Snave cottage is a lovely escape from it all. The location is beautiful. There is everything you need and a lovely welcome hamper. Jerry is a great guy and nothing is too much trouble. This is our second visit to snave cottage and we are hopefully booking again for January.
Ashleigh
We had an amazing time, what a beautiful location our dog was in heaven the walk around the reservoir is perfect. We will be back.
We had the very best week here with special friends. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Beautiful peaceful setting,
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Remote and very quiet, recommended if you need to unwind and leave your worries behind. Went there with my daughter and dog and all of us had a relaxing time with plenty to do locally. Had an issue with my car whilst there, Jerry the caretaker helped with taking me to Harrogate to pick up a hire vehicle, absolute legend. Will definitely return.
Fantastic cottage in an absolutely stunning setting, perfect if you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet.
What an amazing place, so remote which is exactly what we like. Off grid, although you wouldn't believe it, all the comforts are there. I believe you should judge a place by how they react when things go wrong big shout out to Gerry the caretaker who went out of his way to look after us and make sure we were ok, especially after the boiler broke down for the last 2 days. Really helpful, friendly and quick to respond. We are now trying to work out who we could come and stay with to enjoy another holiday in this remarkable place.
Beautiful cottage and location. The only negative comment is the lack of opening windows. It was a warm week when we stayed and the only way to get some ventilation was to open a door. Also, It would have been nice to have a small dining table for evening meals. Having said that we had a lovely peaceful stay.
All great, no negatives ! The lovely introduction to the accommodation by the owner, the little touches like the hamper and everything throughout the duration of our stay was fantastic ! Thank you
Joanna
We had a wonderful family holiday in this well appointed cottage set in a wonderfully remote and tranquil location. The owners were on hand and very responsive when needed. Plenty to do in the surrounding areas and multiple nice walks directly from the front door!
Quite remote location, cottage lovely and well maintained. Greats walks for dogs.
Uniquely peaceful setting, cottage finished to an extremely high standard. Walks rights on the door step with amazing views and wildlife. Welcome pack was fantastic and cottage has everything you could need. The hot tub was amazing and much prefer the wood fired one and was very easy to use after Jerry walked us through how to use it. Jerry was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble he could not have done anymore to make our stay comfortable. We had snow during our stay and Jerry and the owners Hayley and John again went above and beyond to make sure we were ok. We have had many cottage breaks and this has been the most enjoyable and we will definitely be back and highly recommend a break at Snave cottage.
Steven
Requested a changed accepted then told on the day I supposed to go it wasnt ... Requested a changed accepted then told on the day I supposed to go it wasnt and no refund was available I will be making a small claims application in the new year
The cottage is beautiful, and in a stunning location. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing quiet break. We stayed there with my noise sensitive dog on bonfire weekend, the location is so remote I thought we would not here fireworks, we did hear a small display at the other end of the reservoir but it was so far away my dog wasnt too bothered, she was more upset when the stove top kettle whistled when it boiled. The track to the log is terrible, the pot holes are very deep and for the majority of the road it is impossible to miss them. We arrived after it had gotten dark, the signage in and around the area is poor, I would recommend arriving in daylight if possible. The outside parking at the lodge is tight if there are guests in all 3 buildings, with large rocks ending the road. The cottage itself, was stunning, so peaceful and quiet, the other buildings were occupied while we were there, but we never saw or heard the other guests. The rooms are large and spacious with very comfortable beds, and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch. The cottage is situated in a very convenient area for exploring Yorkshire, you are very close to several attractions , we werent blessed with the best weather but we still enjoyed a couple of days out exploring. I would definitely recommend Snave cottage and we will look to book again in the future.
Michael
The cottage was perfect! Clean, cozy & in an amazing location! We loved our stay, will definitely be back.
Samantha
Spending the week at this beautiful cottage is everything we expected it to be. The location is quiet, just what we wanted but the road leading to the cottage could be improved. There are large potholes and it is very uneven and could certainly do with some improvement. Gerry was great, met us on our arrival and told us everything we needed to know. The welcome pack was fantastic and a lovely surprise especially the Prosecco and beer in the fridge. Thank you., overall we have been very happy with our stay. My only small criticism would be that we would have preferred an electric kettle and only one side of the toaster works. I did find the lid on the hot tub very heavy to lift for one person, it restricts the views and is awkward. A slated top would be much easier for one person to manage and give greater views. None of this however has stopped our enjoyment of the property though. A thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing break, would highly recommend if you dont mind being off the beaten track.
Most wonderful situation, but a long bumpy drive to reach it. This didnt worry us as we had an appropriate vehicle. With very soft water, rubber bath mats should have been provided for safety reasons as baths were very slippery. A better frying pan would have been nice. Beautifully presented.
Michael
It is a remote but beautiful location. Would be lovely if the reservoir was full but hey, English weather. very comfortable beds.
Beautiful cottage, sparklingly clean, comfortable beds, lovely kitchen with all utensils ever needed! Hot tub was fab. Hamper at property on arrival was great, even had snacks and treats for our dog. Site manager Jerry was lovely and helpful. Lots of lovely walks and things to do nearby, walk around the reservoir was great. Would highly recommend. Nothing negative at all.
Nicola
This is a lovely cottage in an amazing location. We were greeted by Jerry, who explained everything we needed to know, which was very helpful. We really hope to return as soon as we can. Many thanks
