Rock View Cottage Reviews

We had a wonderful time at Rock View Cottage. Spotlessly clean, a very comfortable bed. Hot tub was a lovely bonus. It was nice to light the woodburner and have a cosy night. Prefect place to escape and relax. We enjoyed the woodpecker, the cheeky squirrel and so many birds enjoy the bird feeder, nice to just sit and watch nature at its best.
Absolutely the best place to stay , this is our 6th time at this idilic cottage, ... Absolutely the best place to stay , this is our 6th time at this idilic cottage, its so cosy Karen and nick are best hosts, there there if u need anything, already booked for next yr
Andrea
Best holiday let I have ever stayed in and Nick was a great host. Everything was perfect!
Andrew
The property was exceptional. Surroundings were idyllic and very peaceful. Everything was outstanding. Kitchen fully equipped and the extras were very much appreciated. The bed was so comfy and big. Hot tub was used a lot to help releave aching muscles. We were so relaxed and didn't want to leave. Hope to return in the future. Andrew and Tina Simmons

What a wonderful place to stay. Our holiday was perfect, the cottage was clean and cared for to a very high standard and extremely well equipped. It's in a beautiful location, quiet and very relaxing. The hot tub was a lovely touch, we used it every evening. We were made to feel very welcome, thank you Nick and Karen. The flowers, prosecco, chocolate, milk etc were really nice as little extras. We would highly recommend the cottage and hope to return, definitely 1010. Thank you Jules and Ash
Covers for outside chairs. When it stops raining and you want to sit outside you need to wait for the chairs to dry as they are wood.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay and really didn't want to leave. The cottage was perfect, super clean and comfortable. Location was very peaceful. The hot tub was the best we have been in on a holiday, it was so good. Highly recommend this cottage.
We had a lovely stay at Rock View Cottage. It was the perfect getaway. Nick welcomed us when we arrived and answered any questions we had. The accommodation was of a very high standard, with flowers, treats and a lovely welcome card, this property was perfect for two. The property is surrounded by trees and to be able to have a hot tub that you could relax in and enjoy the natural surroundings was ideal. The property is in an ideal position with the Tamar trails virtually on your doorstep and it is a short drive into Tavistock. We did not want to come home and would recommend a stay here.
Michael
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and we loved every minute of our stay. Our hosts were lovely and the cottage was very cosy.
Great little cottage, perfect for a quiet relaxing stay. Right in the middle of the Tamar trails, perfect for walking or cycling. we will be back.
The owners were brilliant. They were friendly and attentive but left you to enjoy the holiday. The cottage was superb and in a wonderful woodland setting. Seeing a deer from the hot tub was amazing as were the starry skys at night. Would highly recommend.
On arriving at Rock View cottage we were extremely impressed by the standard of the renovations and the quality of the whole thing. We came for peace, tranquility, wildlife and walks and we had them all in abundance. And to top it all we had the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. Rock View cottage is everything you could wish for and has everything you need. Nick, the owner, was lovely and extremely helpful. The only thing that let us down was the typical English weather! The only word to describe our week is....perfect. Thank you Nick for making us so welcome. We will be back.
Wonderful little cottage in a fantastic tranquil setting. We had a great holiday and didn't want to leave.
We absolutely loved our stay at Rock View Cottage. The location is really secluded and if you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to go. Literally all you can hear is the birds. Lots of walks right on your door step, and a massive hot tub big enough for 6.... So with just two of us was very luxurious. The cottage itself is very well equipped with everything you could need, bed is huge and really comfortable. The only negative I'll say is the seating whilst modern and new... Were not the most comfortable.. they have low backs, so you cant lay out. But that is a minor thing and didn't impact our holiday as we often sat outside, or were in the hot tub. In terms of the location you are far enough removed to have a quiet woodland holiday, but a 20 minute drive will take you into Plymouth, or Cornwall, so close enough for the town's. We ate out a couple of times horn of plenty is a must try but mostly cooked at the cottage. The kitchen is fully fitted with every kind of potpan you could need. Overall this gets a 5 from us and we will be looking to book again next year.

Nick the host was very friendly and helpful. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and very, very comfortable. A very quiet and peaceful location. We highly recommend Rock View Cottage and would definitely return. Thank you Nick and Karen
We had an extremely relaxing holiday. It was the perfect mix of being tucked away enough to enjoy peace and quite, but close enough to everything we wanted to do. The cottage is absolutely charming with a very comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. We decided to have our evening meal at the cottage each day and the kitchen had everything we needed. There are some walking trails at the end of the path to do. The hot tub was much appreciated after that. The cottage is well shaded, so even in the hot weather it was nice and cool. Oh, and Cafe Liason in Tavistok makes a great pitstop for breakfast I would wholeheartedly recommend this property.
Amazing cottage everything u need is there , its very peaceful and quiet love this place been 5 times
The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable
Michael
Absolutely lovely place to stay, this was our 2nd visit. Could not recommend it anymore as its so peaceful and quiet. We will be visiting again.
Dorota
Perfect location for relaxation and chilling out. We enjoyed so much. Property prepared in hundreds percent. Communication with the owner on every stage in point. Very clean, comfortable, and absolutely stunning place. Hot tub amazing. Thank you Nick for having us there.
Jonathan
Beautifully maintained property, set well away from any main roads on the border of a woodland. The internal decor and facilities are fantastic, a full size bath and separate full size shower we're most welcome after a rainy days hiking. Outside the hot tub is just the cherry on the proverbial cake.
Wow, from start to finish, we relaxed. ....Great communication from booking to check out. Home from home with a fully functioning and wellequipped kitchen. Amazing bathroom and great quality towels. The bed was so comfortable, we didn't want to get up in the mornings. Underfloor heating throughout so always warm and toasty and didn't need to light the wood burner. The hot tub was a great way to start and finish the day, even in the typical English weather which wasn't kind to us but we did not let it affect our muchneeded rest and recuperation.
Had a fabulous week in a brilliant location, owners on hand for any info, cottage ... Had a fabulous week in a brilliant location, owners on hand for any info, cottage lovely, plenty of walking done followed by relaxing in the hot tub, would definitley recommend and go again
Natasha
The area is lovely and quiet to relax in, the hot tub was very enjoyable as was the amazing bath. You are not far from Tavistock which is great if you want to explore the town. The cottage has most things that you would want and we appreciated the milk, water and Prosecco on arrival. We found the place fine using our Sat Nav, although we have a city car which the track isnt made being so rural, so you may need to drive slow. I would add somethings to consider, we found the bed too soft but understand this likely to be personal preference. We used our own pillows as the ones provided were quite soft too. I would add another set of cutlery as the one set can be used up with breakfast and lunch and it would help making washing dishes more economical. Be mindful of movement in the shower as we knocked our elbows a few times on the metal shelving. I would also add to be mindful that visiting guests the lunchtime before the day of checkout sends the wrong message when asking when you can empty the hot tub for the next guests. It is not appropriate and we left promptly after. I would suggest leaving your tidying up for you nine hour cleaning window when guests have vacated like all other establishments. As you can see above there were minor issues, however, overall our stay was very enjoyable and relaxing a would highly recommend a stay.
Audrey
Nick and Karen were perfect hosts. It's been a peaceful and relaxing stay, with immaculate facilities, a stunning hot tub and was just what my husband and I needed. It's a haven for solace and silence.
Love this cottage booked again
Russell
A beautiful secluded property surrounded by trees, large patio area and fabulous hot tub. Awesome evenings spent outside in the dark listening to owls and gazing up at the Milky Way, returning inside to the warmth of the log burner. A truly relaxing week with good weather and woodland trail walks from the front door. Thanks to Nick and Karen for the personal welcome card, milk and bottle of wine and of course for making this lovely property available to stay in. Russ & Deb, Bristol. 17th24th Sept 2022
A lovely warm welcome by property host spotlessly clean and comfortable and certainly a bonus was the hot tub . Many places of interest quite locally . Thank you for a very enjoyable stay .
Jacqueline
Thank you for a lovely stay the cottage is beautiful and very well appointed. Totally peaceful and idyllic surroundings. The owners were very helpful and everything was perfect, with lots of nice little touches to make us feel welcome. The hot tub is a real treat. It's not a criticism as most cottages don't yet have them, but an electric car charger would be useful payable of course. However we knew there wasn't one so we planned accordingly it would just be more convenient to charge overnight. But absolutely loved the place, would highly recommend and would stay here again.
Andrew
The cottage is in a quiet secluded location ,access to the property on the unmade Road needs a bit more information for lower sitting cars .
Hayley
Beautiful cottage in the woods which feels extremely remote and quiet but sufficiently close to civilisation to not be a problem in getting anywhere. Nick was amazing throughout our stay, very helpful and friendly and provided a lovely Prosecco treat and specifically catered to our nondairy needs with the milk provided. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again. Helpful tips for other people staying 1. Take some indoor slippers as the cottage has a beautiful oak floor which is polishedwaxedcleaned before your stay. In bare feet or socks we found it to be very slippery especially then using the tiled bathroom floor so would recommend indoor footwear that is safe for the floors. 2. If you are not confident using tiny Devon lanes it may not be for you as the approach is single track and near working farmland. We are very used to such roads but had some interesting moments with tractors but handled easily but I know some people don't like using such roads. Also if your car has low suspension the final part of the track may be a little problematic for you.
Angelika
The cottage was just incredible! Very quiet and beautiful spot! We had amazing week off away from everything! A lot of attraction within an hour drive such as Eden project, lost gardens of Heligan and quite a lot of National Trust walkscoastal walks. Karen and Nick were lovely, always there if you need them but without bothering you. The property had lovely living room, very nice bedroom with comfy bed and kitchen had everything we needed. We are already looking to go back next year.
Michael
We had such a lovely time on our honeymoon here we have just booked again for our 1st anniversary. The cottage was lovely and clean and the facilities was a We highly recommend
Suzanne
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. A very warm welcome and some lovely little extras. Cant wait to return. Owners were the perfect hosts
We had a very enjoyable and restful time. It was lovely to be in the forests and away from the stresses of modern day life. The Hot Tub was wonderful and Nick and Karen were great hosts and very helpful.
Fantastic week stay at Rock View cottage, set in a remote idyllic place, so quiet, lots of birds, squirrels etc , fantastic walks around Tamar Valley literally on your doorstep. .. absolutely beautiful. Owner's always there to help if needed, but they also leave you alone, they were great, many thanks. Lovely welcome card, flowers, milk in the fridge...and even a bottle of fizz on arrival, Hot Tub was fab, best I've ever been in, again, surrounded by tranquil trees and birds. Would definitely recommend booking.
Hayley
Amazing stay! Nick was the perfect host, let us carry on with whatever we wanted to do but there if needed, beautiful cottage, beautiful surroundings, definitely recommend!!
Nick & Karen are both lovely hosts, the location of the cottage is beautiful. Plenty of trails to walk around and explore. The cottage itself is lovely, modern but still has that rustic feel to it. Very clean inside and we felt like it was our own little home whilst we was there with the log burner on. The hottub was like the icing on the cake and was a perfect little way to relax in the evenings after going for a nice walk along the streams that run through the woods. Plenty of history in the area but overall a amazing stay, will definitely be coming back here in the summer. Didn't want to leave!
We absolutely loved staying here, very tranquil! The cottage has everything you could need for a relaxing week away from it all. We really enjoyed the hot tub especially with the colour changing lights in the evening and the steam rising into the still night air. The wood burning stove is great to chillax in front of and you can quite easily get lost in the flames for a while. Theres also a very big and really really comfy bed which sent us of to la la land in no time at all, we slept so well. Great owners too we will be back Thanks for having us Nick and Steph
