Otterburn House Reviews

We have rented many holiday cottages in Bude over many years and this was the best of them all! Wonderful location, exquisite garden and very well equipped.
Howell
Excellent property with comfortable rooms and good facilities. A few minor negatives, the stairs are steep and with low headroom. The satellite signal is poor and the WiFi insufficient bandwidth for many users. However, situated in a quiet spot on a narrow road it has excellent views, a great garden and is close to Bude. Would recommend the walk along the canal! Has everything you need for a large family in a scenic spot. The ev charger is also a great addition. We had a great holiday..
A butter dish and hand towel in the kitchen short of wonderful for us as a holiday home. Spacious, well equipped house with lovely gardens. We really enjoyed being able to walk out from the house into Bude or the coast at Widemouth Bay along the Bude Canal. Table tennis and hot tub were an added bonus and well used. Very quiet location. One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in as a family group of adults.
Jeremy
Otterburn House is a fantastic holiday house. Three generations formed our trip and the high level of comfort it afforded and location generated an idyllic break. The gardens, sitting out area and hot tub enabled a truly relaxed holiday. Thank you.
We loved the house and beautiful garden, perhaps more actual details of where to put the bin because we put it out with another bin on Thursday night and it reappeared un emptied on Friday morning. Also we didnt know which week was recycle week. Otherwise an amazing holiday let very peaceful with lots of wildlife visiting the garden. Lovely hot tub, lots of kitchen equipment and loads of space for everyone to do their thing. Theres a wheel missing off the chair in the office. Our food delivery didnt make it because Asda Bideford couldnt find the property and the road closed thing was very strange. Those lanes are scarily narrow!!!! Made for fun journeys!! Overall a lovely experience and provided you have no mobility issues and good orientation skills youll love it.
Fantastic property with great facilities. This house was just perfect for a home from home break for our family of 5. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms very comfortable. Hot tub and garden were lovely although sadly it was quite stormy when we visited. But we did make great use of the living room fire. Only downside was that the living room tv did not work to get Sky which was a bit frustrating.
Nicholas
Probably the best Sykes cottage I've stayed in. The location was excellent. The house itself was superb. The gardens amazing! Loved the hot tub. We made friends with Dave the huge spider in the main ensuite bathroom! Lol. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for cleanliness was because of the cobwebs. And for the furniture, was because everything was a little tired and worn out. Not surprising really as I bet this place is never empty! Otherwise, spot on. The smell outside took a bit of getting used to. But I guess when you have a sespit sewerage it can't be helped. We would definitely think about re booking another holiday. Well done to the owners and to Sykes.
Sophie
There were a lot of cobwebs around, kitchen, bedrooms etc. My daughter found a vape on the top of a wardrobe in one of the single bedrooms. We also had a visit from a mouse in the room with the desk in. We tried to get it out but it disappeared. Door handle came off in my hand to bathroom. Dishwasher did not clean very well.
Ernest
Very nice cottage, well situated for Bude with either a quick drive or short walk into town
Andrea
The property is exactly as advertised as is absolutely lovely. The kitchen is extremely well stocked . The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Just a couple of little comments the step down into the main bedroom ensuite is quite deep and the looseness of the door knob was perhaps an indication that it had been used as a support maybe a small grab handle might be useful especially during the night and the stairs are very steep so perhaps a second stair rail would help young and old alike. I have already shown many friends the pictures and would recommend the property without hesitation Thank you.
The property is very well equipped to enable customers a comfortable real home from home experience. The property was cleaned to a high standard, and bed linen, towels, were of very good quality. There's ample space both inside and outside for our group 4 adults, 1 dog.
What an amazing cottage and gardens. It feels and look like an old cottage but it has all the modern living you could want. The owners have got the balance perfect. We loved the modern shower and bathrooms, which also maintained the old cottage feeling. The gardens were amazing as well with a fantastic view across Bude. It was lovely to share the gardens with the wildlife and the hot tub is a great touch. We would definitely stay here again. My only feedback would be to repair of replace the fencing on the entrance gates as our little dog managed to get under it so we had to put the bins out to try to prevent this.
A fantastic house and gardens in an idyllic spot. Spacious and comfortable with everything to hand. The walk into Bude along the canal is delightful and everything made for a very relaxing break.
Pauline
Fabulous house to bring together the wider family. The grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed having such a great garden space to play together. The adults really appreciated the peace and quiet as well as the table tennis and hot tub!! The family lounge was a great space to come together at the end of the day, and having the separate snug was useful when football clashed with toddlers desire to watch their programs A great base to explore Bude, the Canal and Bude Marshes. Would recommend the Weir at Whaleborough for great food breakfast, lunch and dinner in a lovely location. Perfect place to dine out with little ones We really appreciated being able to recycle our rubbish. Darren was very helpful when we discovered a couple of maintenance issues they were very quickly resolved. We do feel the website should make clear that there are steps in several places between the downstairs rooms, and the stairs are quite steep. Also hoping there will be a bit more attention to replacing light bulbs and cleaning dust and cobwebs from behind and under furniture
We had a glorious weeks stay at Otterburn House, perfectly situated for walks along the canal into Bude where we enjoyed some lovely lunches out & we were blessed with the weather and spent most days on the beach with fabulous walks back to the house along the Southwest Costal Path. The house, garden and hot tub were all perfect, nothing to fault and we'll definitely return.
Wonderful stay with stunning surroundings amazing place to stay.
Excellent cottage for 3 generations of our family. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable rooms with space for all the family, fantastic garden & good location for North Cornwall. The hot tub was a great addition for us to enjoy. 15 minute walk to Bude along the bridle path. We visited The Bank Tapas which is not to be missed, probably the best tapas we have had anywhere. Enjoyable week for us all.
Phoebe
A beautiful holiday home large, spacious, extremely clean, quality fixtures and fittings, bedding, crockery etc all good quality and like a home from home. Perfect for all ages, including a baby and grandparent. The location was ideal, and the house was so great you could have spent the whole week at home. Darren was incredibly accommodating in advance helping by sending photos of steps and stairs to help one of our party members with limited mobility. A perfect holiday home, we had a fabulous week and would very much recommend or come back ourselves.
Fantastic place to stay with family and friends. All the facility's you could need for a long stay. Bathrooms and showers were excellent and kitchen facilities were amazing. Location was good, 1520 minute walk into Bude centre and to the beach. We visited The Bank at Bude Tapas bar only 10 minutes walk away which was amazing. Prebooking was required as they get very busy. Ample parking for our 4 cars. Very quiet with great countryside views.
An absolutely fabulous property. The house itself is perfect in terms of rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. All really well furnished and presented. A very comfortable home from home. The wonderful garden has to be seen to be believed complete with a great hot tub and even table tennis. Otterburn House is well situated with comfortable walks along the pretty canal to Bude and Summerleaze Bay one way and Widemouth Bay the other. Lovely views all around complete a great holiday.
Amazing property with fabulous gardens, lovely walks on the doorstep, facilities second to none
Cottage was absolutely for perfect for all the family ,, furnishings , bed linen , towels , showers all to a high standard. The setting was overlooking the countryside and it was uninterrupted views all round . Table tennis and hot tub a bonus too . Beautiful House We were looked after well By Darren ..

We had a lovely time. Lovely cottage with beautiful scenery. Cottage had everything needed for a lovely relaxing stay. Hot tub was a bonus! We enjoyed really nice walks and the walk into Bude along the canal was lovely. Really nice local beaches. Would definitely book again
Rebecca
Everything was utterly fantastic! True home away from home feeling!
Beautiful house whatever the weather, something for all the family and a large garden space for the dogs! Kitchen stocked with everything you could think of and everything very high quality. We wish we wouldve stayed longer, a lovely 15 minute canal walk to Bude, and would definitely recommend visiting The Bank at Bude restaurant. 1010
Joanne
We had the most amazing stay here. The house was beautiful and clean and was perfect for what we wanted our weekend to be. The sky cinema was a hit with the kids for Christmas. Beautiful house & perfect location.
Absolutely fabulous property incredibly well equipped, extremely clean, lovely and warm we were there in November, beds really comfortable I can't fault it at all. In addition, it has beautiful gardens and love the fact that you can walk into Bude along the canal so easily and quickly. Will definitely be going back
Beautiful cottage. Clean, comfortable, with all the facilities you would need. Great gardens and enjoyed the hot tub and table tennis table too.
Philip
An excellent place to stay with everything you could possibly need. We stayed as six adults and had a great time with a lovely garden including the hot tub. There is loads of space in the kitchen and living areas. The only downside were the stairs for some of our older friends but they didn't prevent enjoyment of our week. The location is great too with lovely walks in to Bude or up the tow path to the cafe.
Sharon
Otterburn House was perfect for our 3 generation family. It ticked every box on our wish list a bathroom for each couple, parking for 3 cars with 2 toddlers and a large dog we dont travel light!, a big garden with uninterrupted views, a large kitchen diner where we could all assemble, a lounge for the grownups and a playroom for the little ones. The hot tub was great for relaxing when the children had gone to sleep too. The house is equipped with Le Creuset, Emma Bridgewater, thick towels, comfy beds, I could go on.,. The location is ideal, a walk along the canal leads straight to the beach. We loved the nearby Electric Bakery ooh those almond croissants, just delicious! The house managers were extremely helpful, responding to queries promptly and even texting a thank you for leaving the house tidy after wed departed.
Nicola
Gorgeous house with lovely views. Very well equipped, slept well as the mattresses were super comfortable. Just a couple of minor things that didnt really affect us, the garlic press is broken, so we just chopped and the fridge leaks. Thank you!
The house was absolutely lovely and surpassed our expectations. It was very clean and the bed linen was really fresh. The only item which could have been more accommodating was the check out time of 9.30am. The cleaners were already waiting at 9.15am and this is a very early time to check out when you are a family of 5. A standard check out is generally 11AM as a 4 5 hour turnaround should be ample for the housekeepers to clean the property.
Bethan
We had an amazing time staying at otter burn house for 3 nights. The pictures online do not do the house justice the house is beautiful with everything on your doorstep with 5 mins drive. The only issue we had is that we found some silver fish on some of the plates in the cupboard maybe this needs a little deep clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the house was spotless. We felt the property could benefit with a BBQ area and maybe some large lawn games. I will definitely be looking to stay here again in the future but this time with my young family. High recommend this property.
