Whincroft Reviews

Absolutely fabulous place both inside and out with everything you need including an amazing garden. Hosts, great and quickly responsive to anything you ask. Location really central for north or south coasts and the incredible Dartmoor. Couldnt recommend more
Fraser
Lovely cottage with everything you need for your stay. Caters for all, little touches like a card on arrival with little dog treats and cake. Just a nice place to stay.
We absolutely loved our stay in whincroft. So much thought and care has gone into making an amazing home from home. It was perfect for all three generations of our family who came. The owners responded straight away to any questions and were so helpful. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful week in this perfect cottage. The hot tub was used every day and we enjoyed walking the local area as well as Dartmoor paths. We appreciated the tech, such as the kitchen music speaker, WiFi and TV. The games room was so well equipped and contained a game of Mah Jong as well as many family favourites. The cottage itself was very clean and well decorated and the beds and sofas were lovely and comfy. We lit the fire on one cold evening and really enjoyed the warmth. The garden was so very beautiful. A mix of cultured and wild flowers, lovely sloping lawn and a collection of places to sit made it really delightful. The dog loved sniffing around when we were in the tub! Tavistock is a great town to visit and the Peter Tavy Inn fed us well on one occasion. The only addition we might make would be to include a large towel for each person to use in the hottub and a decent hairdryer, or perhaps two? In every other way this is a luxury establishment and we would love to return.
Great place to stay. Beautiful house great facilities. Loved the hot tub. Aga was great for keeping chill off, as we did not pick a very warm week. weather wise! Lovely local walks, Peter Tavy pub , great for food. We all had a great time, 2 legged ones and 4 legged ones Hopefully will be back next year
We had a great week in this lovely cottage and really appreciated the welcome card and cream tea provided as well as having the log burner set and ready for us to use. The cottage caters for all age groups and was much enjoyed by us all especially the hot tub and games room. The cottage had everything we needed, the only thing it could do with is a large clothes airer or tumble drier to cater for those muddy clothes on rainy days when washing cant be dried outside. That aside, we would definitely recommend Whincroft to others and would love to return at some point
Perfect week away. Lovely cottage with everything that you could think of to make your holiday special. Lots of personal touches.

This is a gem of a cottage in the heart of Dartmoor . We went out on lots of lovely walks directly from the cottage. The kids loved the games room and garden. Plenty of facilities to cook but also two lovely local pubs in walking distance.
Jackie
What a fabulous house. We all loved it and plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 children. They especially loved the garden a plus being the weather which was amazing every day. Every facility you could think of and very comfortable
A beautiful cottage in a great location.

Whincroft is an exceptional home from home cosy , comfortable cottage with excellent facilities in the most beautiful setting in the Devon countryside . The owners have lovingly kept the charm and character of the cottage, and everything you could possibly need was provided for. Dog friendly with the most beautiful gardens , tranquil and peaceful . A driveway with easy access into the rear of the property was very useful giving access straight into the kitchen which is a warm cosy retreat with a beautiful aga and plenty of space .

We couldnt fault a thing . We even made a little friend ginger cat the pub up the road was very good .we had a lovely meal and a few games of pool . Caroline
Charming and well equipped house with a beautiful garden. Excellent location for exploring locally.
Patricia
We had a fantastic holiday in this beautiful cottage. It was very comfortable clean and with a touch a luxury. We all enjoyed the hot tub and magical garden. Only complaint we had was that we believed we were booking through 'Helpful Holidays ' who we always booked holidays with but were directed to Sykes. Very disappointed.
I'm trying not to let the fact that it rained heavily every day influence my comments. The garden was designed imaginatively, set into the hillside, with lots of interesting corners to sit if the weather had been kinder. As others have mentioned the cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you could need to make your stay delightful, relaxing and enjoyable. The area is breathtaking so there are great places nearby to explore. Thank you very much.
Joanne
The cottage and gardens are really beautiful characterful spacious comfortable peaceful and in such a pretty location. The kitchen and utility are really well equipped, the house is tastefully furnished and as for the comfortable beds... There's a lovely friendly pub at the top of the road with a great garden with views and another pub within a 20 minute walk along the stream and country footpaths. I can't speak highly enough of this property and, as a family of 5 adults, we had a truly relaxing, fun stay.
Whincroft is a very comfortable and well equipped holiday Cottage in a lovely location. We were a party of 5 adults and a child. We enjoyed walking on the moor and relaxing in the garden. It was a most enjoyable week
Caroline

Absolutely stunning cottage so clean and well equipped. Very cosy and comfortable with stunning garden and hot tub was fantastic. We loved it !
Andrew
The cottage is everything you want from a family home never mind a weeks holiday home. Extremely well equipped, warm, cosy and proper Aga to cook on. The location is perfect. Literally a five minute walk to the beautiful countryside and within walking distance of two great pubs. The Mary Tavy Inn was one of the most welcoming pubs we've been in. The locals were so friendly and we learnt a lot about the local history. Thank you to Myles and Emma for being fantastic helpful hosts. A fantastic week break that will be repeated next year.
