Sea Cliff Cottage Reviews

A lovely property, loved the cinema room and the arrival hamper was a really nice touch. Beds were really comfortable and ample bathrooms for ease and comfort. Very well equipped. Only downside was the time we had to invest in heating hot tub, it took 7 hours and lots of manning, we couldnt go out because we needed to check the fire. Bit disappointing as our kids expected to be in it every day and we only went in once.
Nicola Denise
The holiday started by talking to Claire the housekeeper 3 days before the holiday start date, she was lovely, really helpful with suggestions of places to visit. The cottage was fabulous, comfortable, homely, well equipped. Spending each days on the different levels of garden makes it feel as though you have visited different places steep steps but the up and down is the same as the Cornish coastline, the verandah gives another area and allows you to meet walkers on the coastal path and the friendly neighbours. The cinema room was just the icing on the cake and we had date night as even popcorn was supplied. Claire supplied a yummy hamper all supplied by a local farm shop and was always at the end of the phone for any queries fabulously helpful. Coastal walks from the door, but we aware that dogs are not allowed on the beach in Pentewen between March and November. Coastal walk to Mevigessey 2 miles and catch the bus back is really easy, bus from the village to Heligan Gardens or hire a bike from the village and finally The Ship pub in the village was really friendly, good food and served Proper Job ale so hubby Really good holiday, memories made fabulous cottage, but special thanks to Claire, having a house keeper who knows the area, is helpful and willing to share knowledge adds the sparkle.
Thank you so much, this was a treasure of a find for us to visit Cornwall. A listed cottage full of history and gracefully restored. Every modern facility and equipment provided for. The location is fantastic worth every penny paid for the views alone. There were gorgeous treats in the hamper and other treats, a lovely welcome on arrival. Thank you Claire for promptly and courteously helping with the few glitches we had. For the owner I would just say that it would be helpful to review the documented guest guidance instructions e.g there were no bath robes or towels for outside use at the hot tub as stated. Although very quickly resolved as there are indoor robes and towels provided which we were allowed to use. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
We loved staying in this unusual and comfortable house. Great decor annd furniture. Even in April the warm sun on the front terrace was just lovely for a sundowner. Its a great base and easy to get around from the location. The beach in Pentewen is gorgeous , the Pentewen trail is flat and easy to walk for all abilities. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a short drive. Claire was very friendly and helpful.
Lovely cottage. Quirky, like many older properties, particularly in Cornwall, but well appointed, beautiful views and picturesque setting. Pentewan is a lovely village and benefits from a good pub, a local shop, proximity to the coastal path, excellent beaches, and amenities supermarkets etc at St. Austell. Nothing not to like about the cottage but if I had a choice I would love a more comfortable sofa in the living room. Be aware of the many steep steps to the upper terrace which means you get the great views, and access to the hot tub which is fab and kept my husband usefully occupied for several hours he loved it! but it does take some attention and time to heat
Michael
Absolutely perfect! The property was immaculate and included everything we needed for an incredibly relaxing and comfortable week. Claire was brilliant very responsive and helpful when we had a few little queries. We won't hesitate to book again the next time we want to stay in a beautiful, well equipped property within minutes of a lovely beach im Cornwall.

A fantastic break, very relaxed. The cottage was stunning and in a perfect location for dog walks and a pint. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The best holiday rental in pentewan. The house is beautiful. Such care and attention to detail. Really clean, with lots of luxurious touches such as underfloor heating in the bathrooms, the beautifully designed cinema room, and the hot tub of course. The location is stunning, with views for miles, access to the coast path, local beach & a great pub! So good to have the dog with us too. Everyone we met were incredibly friendly and happy to suggest restaurants, explain local history etc. Special mention to Claire the housekeeper who was super accommodating especially when we locked ourselves out and helped with things to do locally, eateries etc. oh and the hamper is to die for! I cant think of anything to fault it.. if youre in pentewan, stay here you wont be disappointed.
This was a great property we really enjoyed our stay. Wed certainly recommend this place to rent for your Cornwall holiday. The facilities were excellent the best I think weve ever had from a holiday rental and also the location, which was great.
We had a wonderful holiday. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. Set in beautiful Pentewan. Welcome pack is lovely and full of Cornish goodies. Claire very responsive to our needs. Only downside is the difficulty to access if you drive up hill to cottage as you are unable to turn on to the terrace, you have to go much further up turn round and come back. Having said that we plan to return.
The property is so beautiful and set in amazing views. On arrival the house was spotlessly clean. We have never stayed in such a well equipped house and the decor and furnishings were of a high standard. We would definitely recommend to friends and family.
It was a lovely cottage and everything was there it was perfect. It was clean and comfortable. It is well looked after by Claire, the hamper was perfect as well.
Kathryn
What a beautiful place. Everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Disappointed
Garden terrace is a total nightmare - up a steep narrow flight of stone stairs with a drop on either side to an artificial grassed area. I wouldn?t let children go up there or if you have any slight problems at all with walking/knees - definitely not for you! The gravel access is also a big problem, and getting in and out of the property you have to hold up the traffic on a very steep hill to let you manoeuvre out and in to the gravel lane. The house is tired and definitely needs updating - overall we were quite disappointed and the description is misleading :(
Cordelia
Good location and well equipped kitchen and house.
Enjoyed our stay overall however we felt the property had a few maintenance issues and attention to detail missing that really should be there on a five star rating property and at a price that is being charged. The initial WOW factor was soon tarnished by varying issues that have been fed back to the owner. We were disappointed. Nice area to stay, and good position to visit Mevagissey, Port Isaac and Padstow. Lost gardens of Helligan are wonderful and well worth a visit. The Ship Inn is a nice pub and food and wine were good.
Disappointed with your description of the property for starters ! 1 Garden is horrendous and to access and therefore we didnt use it ! 2 Access to the gravel lane is also quite scary we had to actually hold up traffic to manoeuvre in and out of the gravel lane ! 3 Carpet gripper is penetrating the carpet because the landing carpet is so thin and we had to put a towel over the bathroom landing access so our feet werent being constantly scraped I actually cut the back of my heel on another exposed gripper coming down stairs 4 House looks shabby and is in need of some TLC mould in both bathrooms 5 Various people wandered through our back patio garden area and left the side gate open, we wanted a secure garden area because we had our dog with us and wasnt aware of public access quite embarrassing as I was in my nightdress one morning and a man appeared in our garden from around the corner ! Overnight the outside lights were constantly turning on and off and disturbed our sleep, I couldnt see a way of turning them off ! Overall we were very disappointed
Christina
The cottage is so inviting and well equipped. We felt at home straight away. This is our 2nd visit to this property, and we have already booked to come again next year! Claire is very gifted at hospitality, leaving treats for our stay and making us feel very welcome. She answers any queries very quickly and gave us good recommendations of places to eat. The hot tub was a real bonus, and we enjoyed relaxing in the lovely hot water at the top tier of the garden, overlooking the lovely countryside and sunset. We slept so well on the comfy super king size bed, and enjoyed eating breakfast on the front porch, greeting the walkers who passed by. Walking down to the beach was a daily must, which only took a few minutes down some steps at the end of the road. The property is in a very good location for visiting nearby pretty harbours of Mevagissey and Charlestown. Thank you again for providing us with such a lovely restful holiday!
Sharon
The cottage and everything in it was absolutely fabulous! Fantastic fixtures and fittings and beautifully decorated. There was nothing that we needed that wasnt there. The welcome pack was out of this world definitely the best weve ever had at a holiday cottage. The only disappointment was the time it takes to heat up the hot tub because it is a woodfired hot tub you need to stay with it, and it takes several hours.
Stephanie
We had a really nice holiday at Sea Cliff Cottage with a great welcome box of goodies and extra treats on arrival. The cottage was ideally situated for the local beach and amenities, the Ship Inn food is very good, but there is a steep hill back to the cottage from the village. Claire the Housekeeper is lovely, helpful and responsive when contacted. We must mention James I believe he is the maintenance man who was so helpful on the morning we were leaving thank you. Very friendly neighbours and in the village. The rear garden has great views from both terraces, is private and quiet but is really very steep to access. The eco hot tub is a force to be reckoned with! We tried several times to 'fire' it up and eventually sadly admitted defeat, but other reviews have enjoyed a HOT tub so perhaps it was us!! Overall we all had an enjoyable time in this cosy cottage.
Melanie
Lovely cottage, very well equipped, but would appreciate a teapot as mugs quite small! Standard of cleaning fell a little short in the lounge, lots of hair and crumbs on the cow hide under the foot rest. Mouldy blind in small bathroom. Overall looked a little tired. But welcome hamper best we have ever had. None of the above would stop us coming back, just constructive feedback to help you keep your 5 star rating.
Jackie
Lovely cottage in a great part of Cornwall Fabulous welcome hamper Lots of ... Lovely cottage in a great part of Cornwall Fabulous welcome hamper Lots of different places to sit out The views from the top garden are amazing
Jennifer
Sea Cliff Cottage is a really charming and comfortable that put us in a relaxed holiday mood immediately. There was a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us. It's right on the SW coastal path and in a very sheltered position. There is a great pub and cake shop a few minutes walk away. We can highly recommend this property. We really did not want to leave!!
What a wonderful stay we had! Everything has been thought of to keep the whole family entertained and comfortable. Such a warm welcome from the hamper to the chocolates on our pillows to the popcorn and Prosecco in the cinema room! Claire is just a message away and was so helpful and friendly! We will definitely be back for another stay and would recommend to anyone!
The cottage & location was super. Spacious and well equipped with a scrumptious welcome hamper. Claire the property manager was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Lots to do in the area, great local pub, walks from the door.
Lovely relaxing cottage, excellent welcome and assistance from Claire. Would definitely stay again.
Beautiful house with a real homely feel. The welcome hamper was delicious and much appreciated. The house was really clean and had all the things we needed. We felt so comfortable and relaxed all week. Lovely big fire and great central heating that warmed the house very quickly. Perfect holiday house.
Sheila
Such a beautiful comfortable house, everything you needed and more, for a home from home holiday, in luxury. Fabulous location, Couldnt have asked for anything more and Claire the caretaker was extremely helpful and attentive. Tha
Beautiful property, friendly and helpful housekeeper, cozy little cottage perfect for a Cornwall escape. Truly walking distance to the beach and off road parking for 23 cars. Only thing to note is the garden I dont think the pictures show how steep the stairs are to the terrace garden. A small portion of the garden is accessible from the kitchen but the bbq area and hot tub are up very steep uneven stairs which are tricky especially in the dark. Not a problem for us but worth noting for anyone whos not confident on their feet. The garden itself is gorgeous, private, amazing views across the countryside and the hot tub was perfect for star gazing. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back for another holiday
Gareth
Great place with fantastic facilities and a perfect location.
Colette
Loved this cottage, we had such a good holiday! The welcome hamper was very generous and there were lots of great little touches like being stocked with games, dvds & books. We loved the cinema room, we only used the other living room once! The area is lovely too and you can walk down to the beach within a couple of minutes. We took a couple of trips out theres plenty of lovely harbour towns and great views to see close by. We even got lucky enough to see some dolphins whilst on a boat tour! I didnt expect that in England to be honest. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone, it was a brilliant home for the week. Wish we didnt have to leave!
Richard
Fantastic cottage in lovely terrace overlooking Pentewan. Brilliant layout perfect for either one or two couples or a small family. Welcome hamper very generous and very good quality and the bottle of gin in the cinema room a very welcome surprise. Very short walk down to the village with all the facilities you need, The Ship Inn and both cafes are highly recommended. Really easy access to the fabulous walking routes on the coastal paths and Pentewan trail. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sea Cliff Cottage, excellent in every way.
Jennie
Lovely property in a great location. Well equipped, with some nice touches. Food hamper was lovely, but as I am coeliac alot of it wasn't suitable. Only complaint would be standard of cleaning. Thick dust on blue bed head, drips on wall by the bin, freezer drawer stuck due to thick ice, half melted lollies left in freezer, marks on sofa, recycling left from previous occupants,Hoover bag completely full! Otherwise had a nice stay!
Had a great stay at the holiday cottage and the boutique feel was perfect. There were lots of lovely extras that made it special from the Food hamper and chocolates on the pillow to the gin and popcorn in the cinema room. The steps to each terrace are very steep and a lot of them. This would put us off returning. Although we had a hot tub which we did use there were not enough logs to heat it for the whole week and I was hoping for a Jacuzzi style.
Very enjoyable stay at Sea Cliff super convenient location for beach holiday, water sports hire, coastal walks and day trips to surrounding areas. Comfortable & homely cottage with everything unexpected extras to start your holiday stay. Housekeeper was very helpful answering questions when needed although we couldn't get the games consoles to work in the end not necessarily a bad thing...!. Hot tub took a long while to heat up but well worth it !! Hope to stay again in the future !
The cottage was lovely, its location to the beach was brilliant and the facilities within the home gave us everything we could need. Would definitely recommend this property.
Lovely cottage, very clean, excellent welcome package best we have ever had. Great setting, lots to do and see and space to relax, just what we needed. Cleanercontact very friendly and helpful.
The property was excellent and really made our stay comfortable. All the little things made a big difference, for example, the chocolates on the pillows and the gin and popcorn in the cinema room. Plus the welcome package was most helpful. Claire the housekeeper was wonderful and assisted us with our questions regarding the property and even called back the next day to make sure we were ok. An absolute star and a credit to the owner. Thanks for everything. Jamie, Jolene and Harvie.
