Absolutely beautiful little place. The wooden beams and decor inside were amazing. A real natural, warming atmosphere the moment you step inside. We have both had a fabulous stay at Byron Lodge. The surroundings were beautiful, you are literally staying in the Trees with spectacular views across the hillside. We would thoroughly recommend this lodge. It is beautiful with lots of wildlife owls and the like. And views to die for. The lodge itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Beautiful property, and lovely views , very clean and great hot tub But the road up to the property is not for the light hearted! Single car road , up a very steep hill , We had a couple of moments , meeting on coming traffic! ( but Im not good with heights!though! )

We chose the Lodge because of it's looks, position, the roll top bath and jacuzzi were the icing on the cake. My wife and I stayed for the week with our little Border Terrier. Hot tub was definitely a winner after a day walking. Stunning views to wake up to, great local pub and local walks. Nick and Jen were really friendly and on ha nd if we needed anything, they gave us loads of great info about what we could do during our stay. We would definitely return

Absolutely lovely week spent at Bydown Lodge. Beautifully presented lodge with no expense spared on comfort. Gorgeous location with some lovely walks in the local area. (Although very Hilly) Nick and Jen are both lovely and always around if you need anything. Cant wait to return soon. Just a little tip. There is no storage for clothes in the bedroo m area. (Just a tiny draw and shelf on the bedside table) so take some packing cubes to store under the bed.
Clarry
A fabulous place to stay, very well presented throughout. All you need for a relaxing stay, close to some lovely beaches and places to visit. We have a dog, the lodge was very secure and he loved the big fields nearby for a early walk. Local pub within walking distance and very nice. The hot tub was lovely especially after a long day out walking. B ig shout out to Colin the motorised mower the dog loved him. The host were very welcoming and on hand if needed. Loved it and definitely will return.
Marcus
A very peaceful and secluded break. We slept amazingly well and made full use of the hot tub, even in the rain. Lots of character with the wooden architecture, and high quality fittings. The access is exclusive to guests so it is very easy to come and go as you please.
Amanda
Beautiful views , hot tub fab, would recommend a very unique property.
Daniel
What a fantastic base to explore beautiful North Devon from. We couldn't have asked for more and were made to feel so welcome and the hosts were extremely accommodating! We got some great recommendations for places we hadn't tried before including the local neighbour who does incredible Wood fired Pizzas. A great place for couples and couples with a dog with some beautiful walks and even more beautiful views. We will be returning soon. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
Emma
Me and my partner loved our stay in this stunning lodge, perfect location, lovely public footpath behind the lodge which leads out onto the hills of Devon. Hot tub was perfect and we had everything we needed. The neighbours hand stretched pizza was fab, we loved visiting Barnstaple for some Christmas shopping. The snow topped off our romantic holid ay and we will definitely be returning!
Zoe
Exactly as described, lovely location, close to most things that you may want to see or do. It was lovely to hear all the owls at night and see the squirrels running about during the day. Perfect place out in the country. We left incredibly relaxed.
Jacob
Amazing weekend. Property was clean and open for us on arrival. Hot tub was clean and ready to jump into. Bathroom was clean and lovely. The only negatives were that the hot tub isnt completely private but placing the cover against the fencing you can create a small privacy screen. The living area also didnt have a curtain but we soon got used to i t. Cant fault anything else. Again the property is fabulous inside and the hot tub was great with jets and lights! We had a great anniversary
Sarah
Cute,cosy,lovely romantic retreat.

If you are looking for a luxurious rustic Lodge with lots of beautiful places to explore near by we couldn't recommend Bydown Lodge enough! The Lodge is beautifully decorated and we had such a lovely stay there. Owners are welcoming and friendly and we highly recommend! Our pup even loved it too!
Rebecca
The property is nicely decorated and finished, and feels lovely and cosy. Perfect for 2. The fully enclosed deck is perfect if you're bringing a dog, and quite rare to find in holiday rentals. Lovely views from the deck, and a great hot tub. Location is good with a huge range of 'day out' options within 20-40min drive, plus plenty of walks right fr om the door. Nick and Jen were very friendly and so helpful with lots of recommendations of where to visit and places to eat. Fantastic hosts.
Ceri
Beautiful lodge in a perfect location to explore north Devon. Hosts were very welcoming and on hand if there were any problems, which there werent.
Deborah
Really beautiful accommodation . Stunning rural location where you can relax & get away from it all . Close to bridal path/ public footpaths . Perfect hideaway for couples . The lodge is rustic yet high end using reclaimed wood but quality appliances . Quirky and stylish . The cedar hot tub situated in the corner of the decking area under the trees was a real treat. Jen and Nick were perfect hosts & were so helpful to us after a problem with our journey down . Cant thank them enough . Fab time !
Lucy
Totally exceeded my expectations We had an absolutely blissful week at Bydown Lodge and can honestly say we enjoyed every minute there, it was utterly perfect. Nick & Jenny are absolutely wonderful hosts, so thoughtful and attentive we needed anything. The lodge itself has everything you need, is cosy welcoming and spotlessly clean. The gardens and surrounding countryside are so beautiful, lots of places to walk & explore, excellent base to explore North Devon. We will definitely be back!
Beth
Stunning location. Beautiful lodge, so lovely and quiet. We had a really comfortable stay and would 100% recommend to others. The local pub The Jack Russell did great food and our dog was made very welcome.
Mark
Bydown lodge is set in a stunning location with some fabulous views and great walks. Outside has nowhere comfy to sit only bar stools so we sat on the floor.PIR light kept coming on at night and waking us up as there are no blinds to most of the windows. The bathroom/ toilet only has a saloon door which might not suit if you like your privacy. Engi neer came at 6:30 at night while we were about to eat to fix the boiler which if you run at night is quite noisy. Have stayed in better for less money
Kelly
Such an amazing relaxing weekend. Would recommend to anyone and cannot wait to return
Jak

We loved our stay in the lodge. Its in a beautiful, quiet location, hidden away from the outside world. The views are great and the hot tub is an added bonus. The bath is luxurious and so deep. You can walk to the local pub and the most stunning beaches are just a short drive away. The owners have thought of everything and we thoroughly enjoyed our break. We left feeling relaxed and energised!
Kirstie
We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely and cosy and we couldn't have asked for much more. The hosts' Nick and Jen are really nice and very accomodating for any questions or requests we had, very easy to get in touch with.
Hannah
Beautiful quiet location but not far from great beaches and other attractions. Surrounded by countryside for dog walks if you do not want to venture far. We booked this for our first wedding anniversary and we would highly recommend it as the perfect romantic getaway!
Peter
We visited in November 2021 for 7 nights and had a wonderful time. The lodge is a perfect base to explore North Devon from and thats exactly what we did. All tHe equipment was first class, spotlessly clean and a lovely welcoming feel to the place. For us the hot tub was a massive plus, perfect on a chilly evening after a days walking. We would defi nitely book the lodge again if we were visiting the area.
Tamsyn
