The Old Apple House Reviews

Sarah
A few steps to get to the property, the property itself is lovely, very clean and well equipped. Had a great couple of days here. Just remember to take all you need, like salt & pepper, extra toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets etc.
Steven
Nice location, quiet yet still close enough to Bideford for food and shops, beaches etc, well equipped accommodation, hot tub a bonus, lots of steps inside and out, plus slope from car park to house, could do with more info on the waste recycling as there are lots of bins but nothing to say what is for what, and tumble dyer very noisy
Kellie
Absolutely beautiful holiday house and garden. Garden was completely private and secure and perfect for a relaxing break away with our dogs.
Helen
Lovely property, location quiet and peaceful setting. Hot tub was fantastic, we went in everyday, sometimes twice! Lounge in particular was very comfortable, plenty of space and nice sofas. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms/showers were great!
Barry
Garden very untidy (grass not cut and lots of weeds), areas outside unkempt, BBQ would not use awful condition, garden furniture dated and dirty. Would not take a lot of effort or expenditure to provide some colour around the entertainment areas. Inside fridge not up to standard and wobbles about, the whole place is tired (a coat of paint would helRead morep) and this is the first house that NO condiments (I mean NOTHING 0 salt pepper welcome pack) and only 1 loo role in each bathroom for a week! Claire
A lovely upside down house with spacious rooms, games and books and a super hot tub. Enclosed walled garden gteat for kids and dog and very private. A great base for north Devon exploring, we had a great week.
Ian
An excellent place to stay for a family group. Close to many resorts in North Devon. Would recommend a stop at any time of year
Jacky
Our 3rd visit to this lovely property. Hot tub perfect after a day walking in the area. The garden is very secure for our dog, and the property offers a quiet location with easy access to many lovely beaches. Well equipped and very clean. We have already booked for next year!!
Nina
The lights in the lounge didnt really work and the spots that did flickered! We had to use the lights in the kitchen. I would suggest people are aware to bring own dishwasher tablets and antibac etc as there is non available not even one tablet to get you through the first night! The house itself was great and ideal for what we needed.
Kate
We had an amazing stay at the Old Apple House. The cottage was welcoming and clean. We really enjoyed the space, hot tub, and fireplace. Our host was very accommodating.
William Timothy
The cottage is situated on a very pretty estate. The Interior dcor is very pleasant. The glass doors from the kitchen to the patio area needs protection from the sun as this has a tendency to superheat the kitchen and along with the heat from the boiler. This is particularly uncomfortable in hot weather. When comparing this to other 4 to 5 star proRead moreperties that we have stayed in, it did not provide a welcome pack on arrival, which is a touch that holiday makers like ourselves appreciate. Hide
Ben
A beautiful holiday cottage, with everything you could want for a relaxing break in north Devon. We had a fantastic week, despite the very british weather!
Sarah
Spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and there was plenty of space outside too. Make sure to bring everything down to salt and pepper and bin bags with you as nothing is provided. Another thing to be aware of (we managed to miss the small print) is that if bringing dogs you cant leave them in the house unattended within the rules of the managing agents. This caused us some disruption to our plans. Nice place for a family holiday - but maybe leave the dogs at home!
Amy
The property was very clean and well equipped which made our holiday very relaxing. The hot tub was refilled and cleaned before our arrival which did mean that we couldn't use it until the Sunday, but it was well worth the wait! We will definitely be recommending this property and re booking it ourselves.
Wendy
Lovely, clean, well equipped cottage in a peaceful location. Garden totally secure when drive gate closed. Supermarkets about 15 min drive, local beaches about 10-15 min drive. Well situated for visiting other beaches, popular towns and villages. Owner responded quickly and resolved a little problem we had. Would definitely recommend and hope to st ay here again.
Sarah
Fantastic holiday home! We didnt want to leave
Hannah
Amazing cottage! Beautiful big secure garden, Rooms all spacious. Lovely quiet location not too far into town. We went as a family of 4 with 2 dogs and had a truly amazing holiday, great log burning fire and the girls enjoyed the hottub everyday twice a day. We baked with the girls cookies and buns the kitchen had everything we needed except scales . We loved that there was dog gates we could put up to keep them in kitchen to dry off despite being open planned.
Ruth
This is a well equipped, very clean & warm cottage. The heating system is controlled via WiFi but could be overridden to suit our comfort level. There are lots of steps & a steep path down to the cottage & lots of steps inside. The layout is quirky & very pleasantly decorated. Its quiet & secluded but no views from windows. Garden is a steep slope. Our bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable. The hot tub was enjoyed by the younger members of our group.
Annie
Spacious house well situated for the North Devon coast. Great enclosed garden for dogs and the hot tub was fabulous, especially in the rain! Always warm and plenty of hot water. On the downside, beware the low beams - several headaches caused by them! Also if you are bringing a baby, bring your own cot bed - the one provided has no matress or sheet s. Also bring all the kitchen basics as these are not provided , nor are towels for hot tub use. Also no wifi when we were there so check that.
Donna
A really lovely property with a quirky layout in a very private setting. Fabulous hot tub, and fully enclosed garden. We hade a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would recommend.
Claire
The layout suited our needs. The dog loved playing in the enclosed garden. The hot tub was a nice touch and the cottage was lovely & warm. Nice location very quiet in the evening.
Louise
Lovely cottage, very comfortable, plenty of room. Ideal if you have children or dogs. Amazing hot tub. Very quiet location and nicely situated. Highly recommend.
Sarah
Feels like our second home, very well equipped, including dog blankets and cushions in case anything is forgotten. The hot tub was very welcome after a blowy walk along the beach!! Great location, lovely and quiet spot with Bideford just a 5 min drive away. Cant wait to return again
Stuart
A great place to stay in a quiet and peaceful environment but, still relatively short drive to shops, beaches etc
Richard
Excellent place to rest and enjoy - especially the hot tub!! All you need for a great holiday near the beaches of golden sands
Tracey
Excellent family accommodation, clean and comfortable. Secure garden that allowed our dog to explore and have fun, with blankets and cushions for them to curl up on. Kitchen well equipped with everything you might need and a bonus of a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Was thrilled to have a hot tub which was used by all the family, gre at to sit in it at night with all the lights on. Would recommend this accommodation for a family get away.
Claire
We really enjoyed our week at the Old Apple House and it allowed us to explore lots of lovely places nearby. The house was really comfortable and quiet, and we made good use of the hot tub!
Dorothy
Lots to like about this property, clean and nice garden with a great hot tub to relax in after a day out. Car is a must to get about. Close by are dog friendly beaches, pretty town of Instow we enjoyed very much, took a little boat ride over to Appledore and back. Had a lovely weeks holiday and would go back x
Michelle

Michaela
Had a fab week staying at The Old Applehouse. Just like home from home thoroughly enjoyed it. Met the owner who was very friendly and would definitely return thank you!!
Tony
The house was perfect for our needs - comfortable and enjoyable. No criticisms.
Karen
This cottage is a little upside down and topsy turvy but it was a great place to stay with the family and dogs. The bedrooms are lovely and with their own french doors brought air into the rooms in the morning. The kitchen was the perfect size for our large family and their was plenty of storage for food and drink. The hot tub was fantastic. It was extremely hard to get the children out in the evening. A great place to stay.
Maria
The Old Apple House was found to be a very private and secluded property. Very quirky in character with its twists and turns from the different rooms. Light and spacious with a lovely open access to a well equipped patio and garden area. The master bedroom had a very comfortable bed and the entire property was clean and maintained to a good standar d. Excellent all round holiday experienced.
Jim
Absolutely fantastic property, beautifully kept and very clean. Very spacious and comfortable, we felt at home immediately. Perfect for a relaxing break, quiet and perfect gated garden enclosure for our little dog. The hot tub was amazing, the whole family made good use of it to wind down after days out exploring the lovely surrounding area. Bidefo rd had everything we needed, such as a choice of 3 large supermarkets and plenty of choices for takeaways and restaurants. Fantastic, we will be back!
Anne
Lovely modern cottage in a lovely location. Very well decorated and furnished. Lovely hot tub. Would highly recommend!
Gillian
Had a wonderful New Year week. Perfectly situated for a number of beaches. Needed help on New Years Eve and the owners came round straight away Many thanks Beds and rooms very comfy, kitchen very well equipped
Natasha
The property was perfect, everything we needed and more! Thank you, this was exactly what we needed and we had a perfect family Christmas. I would thoroughly recommend this property for a holiday any time of year.
Melanie
A lovely furnished comfortable multi level property . Had great parking for 2 cars, a secure gate that could be closed to keep the dogs safe . The sat nav took us right to the last fork and tried to send us to the right rather than left so thank you to the owners directions for this . The building is unique and spacious. The main bedroom and en-sui te is particularly lovely with an amazing shower . The beds are on the firm side but all bedding spotless and comfortable .
Michael
This is a well-designed, comfortable, spacious, child and dog-friendly and well-equipped property in a quiet location, easily accessible from Bideford. It has a lovely patio off the kitchen which gets the sun almost all day. It has parking for two cars, although the entrance is a little narrow. In my opinion, it needs a little improvement in one or two areas such as the bathrooms. There are no immediate walks from the property.
