Heron Lodge Castle Farm Reviews

Absolutely stunning location. Hosts were extremely understanding of the needs of the person we supported. Highly recommended.
Lovely place, great facilities and fantastic view
Kelvin
Really enjoyably stay. Fabulous view and the Harrier was great
Suzanne
The harrier jump jet was an extra bonus.
Richard
Wonderful stay in a beautiful setting, having been greeted by an Alpaca & a Sheep on arrival Albert & Tulip the holiday was set from then on. Plenty to see and do all within 30 minutes drive of the location and everywhere we ate the food was amazing. The lodge was the perfect size for the 6 of us and safe enough for a 2 year old to roam and play. Will be going back for sure.
Hayley
We were a group of 5 girls celebrating my 40th birthday for the weekend and we had such an amazing time at Heron lodge. Location and comfort of the place was 5 star, the hot tub was an added bonus and we used it both evenings. We would all definitely recommend to others and hopefully will return ourselves one day too!
The host was incredibly friendly the rooms were clean the view was incredible and there were so many useful items. I will most certainly be back and will recommend this location to everyone. 5 stars
We loved the views from the property. . Our grandchildren enjoyed the alpacas, sheep and visits from the owners very friendly dog and cat. The owners were welcoming and helpful. Good location for several attractions such as the Tor in Glastonbury, Wells and Cheddar Gorge.
Monica
We had a very enjoyable stay at Heron Lodge, and would certainly think of returning. The setting is really stunning and the location is perfect for day trips to a wide variety of interesting places. The reason I would give the stay 4 stars rather than 5 is that it is described as being a luxurious lodge which sets certain expectations. However, elements such as the pillows, duvets, mattresses, towels and bed linen which also hadn't been ironed should have been of much better quality to warrant that descriptor. I am sure many guests will however appreciate the hot tub and it is lovely seeing the animals on the other side of the garden fence from the open plan living area.
Modern, well equiped and spacious, an excellent property that exceeded our expectations. The view across the marshes from the lounge and patio area is superb.
Had the best time when we stayed here. The lodge was beautiful and the views were stunning. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to be self sufficient on a weekend away.
We had a fabulous time and felt so welcome, thank you Jo & Neil. From Jen, Sven, Rex & Cody
A fabulous stay in beautiful quiet surroundings
Caroline
Great views and great owners Lovely large hot tub and everything you could need ... Great views and great owners Lovely large hot tub and everything you could need in the lodge Could do with a bigger fan upstairs as was very hot
Lovely stay at Heron Lodge we have been a few times now and its always perfect. Views are amazing, lovely quiet spot but ideally located for exploring Somerset.
We booked this property after being let down 4 days before we were meant to spend Christmas in a different lodge in another part of the country. At the time I was so let down but if anything I think it was a blessing in disguise as I dont feel anywhere could have beaten Castle Farm. Such a beautiful setting to spend quality time as a family. The lodge is so spacious that the pictures dont do it justice. The views are absolutely superb, watching the sunrise and sunset out of the lounge windows is magical. I was a bit worried how we would manage on Christmas Day to do dinner and was so surprised how well stocked the kitchen was with enough potspans to do a full dinner. Im not sure what the previous review is about in regards to parking as the lodge next to us had a few cars and we didnt hear anything at all. Was so peaceful and tranquil. Our children loved the morning visits from the alpacas and ponies! Hot tub was lovely and clean and we couldnt have asked for a better place to spend Christmas! One of the best lodges we have stayed in. If youre thinking of booking then you wont be disappointed.
A beautiful place to spend some holiday time. Stunning views and the kids loved the hot tub and the farm animals. The lodge was very impressive and very clean. My grandson insists he wants to come back to this very lodge. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone.
Would defo come back
Fantastic property with beautiful views. Property was brilliant, couldn't fault it. It had everything you needed. It was lovely to open the sliding door every morning. Hot tub overlooked the view. Our daughter loved the visiting the ponies, alpacas and playing catch with the dog. Friendly owners. Would definitely recommend!
Heron lodge is really lovely. It was clean and well kept, with all the necessary essentials for a stat that felt like a home from home. Liked the welcome folder with useful info in. We all loved looking out at the trees and seeing all the birds and wildlife, especially the Alpacas My little boy really loved the hot tub, his first ever time in one. The host couldnt have been more friendly and helpful if hed tried, Thank you for a lovely stay
Stunning location and views across the Somerset levels, peace and quiet in abundance with such amazing wildlife. The lodge is very well equipped and maintained, and very clean on arrival. The hot tub is a good size and adds that little bit extra to fully enjoy the location and beautiful surroundings. The owners are very friendly and approachable. The Harrier jet on a Sunday morning also adds something different if aircraft are your thing !. Overall we had a great holiday and hope to return.
Jacqueline
Great week. Great lodge. Fabulous views. Very friendly and helpful owners. We may well be back!
Great property and setting.
Lianne
Had an amazing week at Heron Lodge. Amazing views, friendly staff and kids loved Billie the dog! Would definitely return. Thank you
The lodge itself is stunning, the views are incredible! It is furnished perfectly leaning plenty of room but more than enough in terms of facilities. Some great local towns to visit and Bristol and Bath are both around a 1 hour drive. The hot tub is a perfect way to relax and soak up the views! We went in January and it provided a lovely cosy environment however it is perfectly set up for a summer break too with the patios and garden. The property is perfectly clean and welcoming with some nice touches provided by the owners! Cant recommend this property high enough, for a romantic break, trip away with the kids anything! Book it quick you wont be disappointed!
We had such a wonderful stay. The lodge was beautiful with beautiful views. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We wish we stayed longer. Thank you so much.
Lovely property with a fab location and beautiful views. Kids loved billy the dog
Alison
Beautifully laid out property with all the amenities that we could have possibly wanted, set out in a idyllic location. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Heron Lodge. Would and have recommend to others.
This was a great place to stay. Firstly the views across the Somerset Levels where a great start to our holiday. The lodge was very well set out with all the furniture one would need for a comfortable stay. The Kitchen diner area was very spacious with a large telly. The lodge also came with WiFi which was very useful. There is also an outdoor Hot Tub to enjoy. Most locations where within 45 minutes Longleat Safari Park, Cheddar Gorge, Clarks outlet village, Glastonbury and the Fleet Air Arm museum though there is a Sea Harrier the owner bought in a mini museum on the lan. The owners Neil & Jo where very nice people, friendly and hospitable. Enjoyed meeting Tulip the lamb, the Shetland Ponies and not forgetting Billy the dog who greeted us most mornings.
Sharon
We had a lovely family break. The accommodation was lovely and the views breathtaking.
Nicholas
Heron Lodge and it's owners were fantastic, resulting in a wonderful break. We could not have asked for more! However, the constant very official emails and texts from Sykes Holiday Cottages were to say the least abrupt and in the main unnecessary. Yes, you were dealing with a situation caused by a pandemic but a more friendly approach would have made dealings with you more pleasurable.
Extremely friendly owners, lovely secluded location and amazing views
Marvellous place, photos don't do justice. You have totally uninterrupted views of the Somerset levels, Glastonbury, the Quantocks, and even part of Exmoor National Park. The owners bent over backwards to resolve issues the hot tub didn't work day one and they resolved it really quickly and were super friendly. They also have a farm dog, Billy, who loves you to play with him so if you like dogs there is a bonus. Everything you need for a relaxing break.
Ideal beautiful surroundings for a lovely chilled break. Highly recommendable for a quiet break away from the rat run. Friendly helpful owners who have really put their all into providing the ideal holiday home.
We had an amazing stay. The owners have really thought about every little detail which really made our stay. The logde was spotless on arrival and watching the sunset in hot tub with a nice drink was amazing. Thank you again for our stay
Rhiannon
Lovely place, very calm and relaxing, with a welcoming dog Billy and our own security guards, in the disguise of Alpaca's! The lodge was very welcoming and clean. Due to the high ceilings there were a couple of spiders webs. The kitchen was pretty well equipped. Bedrooms were clean and nicely decorated. It would have been good to have some little shampoos in the showers. A great weekend away.
