Swan Lodge Castle Farm Reviews

Lovely situation with great views over the levels towards Glastonbury Tor. Hot tub on deck was great. Enclosed area for dog and plenty of additional walking space worked well. Lodge was comfortably warm. Essential equipment available. Host pleasant and useful local knowledge. Some of chairs not as comfortable as others e.g. dining chairs. Could have used a couple more bin bags and toilet rolls.

Stunning lodge in every way!
Swan Lodge is in a beautiful location with huge windows giving views across the farm to the Somerset Levels up to Glastonbury Tor. The hot tub was a definite bonus, private but when you are in it you can make the most of the lovely countryside view. The location is ideal for visiting the area. We all enjoyed the lodge, my only complaint is we found the furniture seats too wide to sit comfortably and I had to use one of our camping chairs. Cushions would help, we will go again and take some big cushions with us because it was a really great place to stay.
Amazing lodge. Very spacious, comfy beds, fully equipped with everything we needed and more, perfect quiet location not far in a car from beaches and amenities with outstanding countryside views. Gated patio for our dog to keep her safe, hot tub is great property is very well maintained. We had a fantastic stay. Couldnt have asked for a better lodge or owners.
Laurel
Jo and Neil are probably the best hosts we have met, very helpful easy to converse with and very friendly overall to help make the stay as best it can be. The property was excellently prepared for us and the facilities and cleanliness was fist class. A very superb hot tub loved by the whole family, checked daily for correct levels and purification.
A beautiful holiday property with helpful hosts. Greet for a family gateway.
Jennifer
I did not visit the property myself my ratings are based on what my son has told me. They loved the lodge but it was frustrating to have so much grass around and not to be able to let the children out to play on it because of the alpacas' poo. A bbq would have been nice.
Alexander
Top class lodge loved our stay alpacas in our garden every day highly recommended
Karthika
We had an amazing stay at the cottage and will definitely visit again. Jo and Neil were very friendly and they allowed us to sit in the harrier jet which made my son's day. The cottage was really neat and tidy, every little thing was thought through including the little fans in the bedrooms. We spent our Christmas there, the handmade Christmas tree was really really cute. We enjoyed every minute of the hot tub. If you are looking for a quite holiday with amazing views Swan is cottage for you.
Steven
The property was clean and ready to use as soon as we arrived, the instructions for the key was clear and precise. The beds were clean and comfortable and the addition of a Christmas tree was very pleasing The owner was polite and helpful
Victoria
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this lodge. We visit Somerset often to visit family and this is by far the best place we have stayed in. The lodge is comfortable and warm with everything you need for your stay.
Deborah
A great place. Views across the countryside to Glastonbury Tor are stunning. Comfortable lodge. Hot tub topped it off! My son even got to sit in the Harrier. Very friendly owners.
A really lovely place to stay and relax. Everything provided and very comfortable. Great hot tub with fabulous views over the countryside and a dark sky if not cloudy. Loved seeing the alpacas in the field across the fence. Owners really friendly and we enjoyed going to see the Harrier Jump Jet!! Would recommend the lodge. Also a great base to explore beautiful Somerset.
We had a fantastic stay at swan lodge. Everything was clean and tidy. The accomdation was well equipped. It was peaceful and a relaxing get away. Plenty things to do near by for familys and dog friendly.
Very clean, excellent home!

A very comfortable holiday home, we felt very relaxed and safe. The hot tub was amazing to come back to after our daily adventures. The property is is based perfectly which meant we could reach Cheddar, Burnham, Glastonbury and Wookey within 25 mins in the car. We did a walk to Wedmore aswell, which took 40 mins, a lovely village. The beds were nice and firm could have done with summer tog duvets though, as the property gets very warm on hot days. The owners were lovely and welcoming and let us view the Jet on Sunday morning. The grounds were well kept and clean and each lodge has designated garden space which meant we could play football and cricket without a bother to others. We used the washing machine and clothes airer provided, very handy. Definitely recommend this property to others, we had a blast!

Swan lodge was a lovely place to stay. The views were amazing, we loved the hot tub, the house was very warm and the beds cosy. There is no bath but we managed fine travelling with a 3yr old. The animals are friendly and the kids loved it. Space for 2 cars easily. Lovely hosts who own a plane you can sit in on a Sunday. The space was slightly snug for 6 but we loved it none the less. Loads to do in the local area. A great stay!!
These are beautiful lodges in a wonderfull setting. Despite there being 4 lodges they are very carefully arranged to ensure no one is overlooked. I'm very sensitive to noise, but we didn't hear a murmur from the other 3 lodges throughout our stay. The lodges have great views and are finished and furnished to a very high specification, with everything you need for a plesant stay. The hot tubs are large and sturdy and Jo quietly services them every morning. Castle farm will definately be our first choice when we stay in this area again.
A very beautiful and well thought through lodge in the most idyllic setting . If you want to get away from it all then this is the perfect place. Easily catered for 4 adults and 2 children very spacious and comfortable for all ages. Added luxury with the Hot Tub there is nothing to dislike apart from the M5 getting there
Great stay and incredible view's. The owners Neil and Jo made our stay extra special and very welcoming as we requested a banner and balloons for a very special occasion. The location is rural and very quiet you would need a car to visit various places and get the most out of your stay. The local shops are approximately 15 minutes drive and if walking 30 to 45 minute, however I would recommend driving to make the most of your stay.
Sheila
I can't rate this property more highly. Property was extremely clean, fresh and comfortable and overlooked the most beautiful view. Jo was friendly and helpful, and the dogs gorgeous, gentle and friendly one of my group is very wary of dogs but totally fell for Billy!. Easy access to Cheddar, Glastonbury, the Tor, Wells and Avalon Marshes nature reserve which is perfect for an easy cycle or birdwatching IF you can drag yourself away from the peace of the lodge's terrace with its stunning views.
My only negative comment about the lodge would be that the living room furniture was quite grubby and worn and could do with being updated. Otherwise it was a wonderful break. The view from the patio area is one to savour. The beds were comfortable, plenty of towels provided and a fan for each room was also provided. An added bonus was getting to see and sit in the owners decommissioned Sea Harrier...something you'd not normally get a chance to do. Another highlight was the daily visit from Billy the dog who brought his ball to play fetch. The lodge is very well located for various local places of interest and most importantly very peaceful and quiet. The only real noises we heard were the cows mooing and the Buzzards screeching...both were wonderful to hear. We'd most certainly return if we ever visit Somerset again.
Melanie
Well what can we say. ..an absolutely beautiful lodge with views to die for. I have literally spent hours both in the morning and evening just taking in the beautiful views photos do not do the scenery justice. We stayed with our 2 children and grandparents and we all wanted for nothing. Both children were mesmerised by Billy the dog. What an absolutely beautiful and friendly dog. Both children now want a collie!! Alpacas, ponies, sheep all at the end of the garden..so quiet and peaceful and my Husbandchildren loved sitting in the harrier..what a fantastic piece of history. We will most definitely be back , daughter would love to come back to see Billy for her birthday. Jo and Neil are lovely people we would highly recommend staying here.
Samantha
The lodges at Castle Farm were wonderful. Very light and spacious and the setting was stunning, so peaceful and quiet with the most amazing views of the Glastonbury Tor 10 miles away. The owners were very Friendly and were only a phone call away if you needed them. A hi light of the holiday were the owners dogs Rosie and Billie!! Billie was the most Friendly happy dog I have ever met and would turn up in the garden a few times a day with his ball for us to throw for him. We were lucky we had a week with warm sunny weather that was the icing on the cake. PERFECT. We will be back to visit this beautiful hidden gem. Thank you
Jessica
We had an amazing stay at Swan Lodge, what a beautiful location and so easy to get to everywhere. Billy made our holiday, what an amazing dog that he is!!
Lovely lodge, we enjoyed the hot tub overlooking beautiful countryside. Beds were very comfortable, and everything we needed was supplied. Owners very friendly and helpful. Quiet location. We were a family of six and we had plenty of room. Loved the animals in the field. All in all a clean, comfortable stay.
Well equipped and very comfortable. An excellent base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. The addition of some cardsgames would have been welcomed along with more accurate details of walks from the property.
Suzanne
Lovely property, the photos of the views dont do them justice. Very relaxing spot and very clean. Nice location as you can visit attractions in all directions, which gives you a variety of views as you travel. Plenty to do. Fabulous bathrooms, and the hot tub was a real treat. The sofa could have done with a couple of cushions to make it comfortable, had to use the pillows off the bed.
Gorgeous property in a gorgeous setting.
We all loved the Lodge. It was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and set in a peaceful countryside location. The hot tub was most welcome after long days visiting local attractions and shopping at Clarks Village. We were 4 adults and a 12 month old little one and found the accommodation to be perfect.
Jonathan
We had such a lovey time at your property, so thank you very much. The views were incredible, we got very lucky with the lovey weather to appreciate the surroundings! The hot tub was loved by all. The temperature was a little cooler on the second day and were unable to get it any hotter than 33 degrees but it may have been something we hadnt done correctly? We hope you got our message re the recycling. All I all, it was perfect for us, we just wish we couldve stayed longer. Thank you very much
Very comfortable and well equipped property. The owners communicated with us before and during our stay to ensure we had everything we needed given our visit coincided with Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin.
Jack and I had the best time. We have been in the past and we were not disappointed as it was just as amazing as the first time we visited. We made use of the hot tub every night and loved the visits we got from Billy, he is such a friendly and playful dog. We couldnt thank Neil and Jo for their help any more, as our car broke down whilst we were down there were from Preston and we were pretty much stranded down there. They were kind enough to let us leave our car there for a scrap man to collect it, and didnt stop there as Jo was happy to drive us to the nearest train station, which was a squeeze with all of our luggage in her mini, we made it work. We look forward to seeing the two new additions to your site when they are completed as they look amazing already. We will be back and hopefully youll remember us as the two whos car broke down aha.
Really really good cottage. Highly recommend! Neil and co are really cool! Would definitely go back Seeing the harrier jet was an absolute privilege.
Joanne
Excellent lodge with amazing views and stunning sun rises. Very peaceful location. We relaxed in the secluded hot tub every day. Very friendly owners and Billy their lovely dog visited us every day. Would thoroughly recommend this lodge and we hope to return sometime.
We had an amazing stay at Swan Lodge. The cabin had everything we could have possibly needed and make our stay so nice. The added bonus of Billy coming to see us everyday was something to look forward to also. We used the hot tub every night and watched the fireworks going off in surrounding villages. We also ventured into Glastonbury and Wells. I would recommend both places to visit as they both had completely different characteristics. Our overall stay was loved by all of us and we would happily return. Thank you also to the owners who were lovely and made sure our stay was everything we needed.
Albert
We were very lucky with the weather, which was sunshine all week. Jo and Neil are very pleasant people and Billy, the dog, is so friendly. Wedmore is a pretty village and the people are welcoming. Travelling across the Somerset Levels to places like Wells, Street and Glastonbury makes you realise just how green and pleasant England is. A very restful week in a wonderfully quiet area where there is still plenty to do.
