After parking up, enter your new home-from-home to be impressed by the large and well-equipped kitchen, boasting all the necessary appliances required to ease your self-catered stay; allow the allocated chef of your group to rustle up a culinary delight before settling down at the dining table to tuck in over a cold glass of wine. Take advantage of the enclosed garden to delight in an alfresco affair before relaxing in the wonderful wood fired hot tub and then retreat in to the homely sitting room to curl up in front of the Smart TV and roaring woodburning stove.

Upstairs, discover the elegantly-adorned bathroom where you can indulge a soak in the roll top bath with views of the castle, before completing your routine and retiring to one of five charming bedrooms, including an external twin bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. In the morning, kickstart your itinerary on your doorstep at Tretower Court and Castle and from there you can take a walk straight up Pen Cerrig-Calch Mountain around and down towards the castle at Crickhowell where there are ample shops, cafes and pubs and walk back along the Usk.

For those seeking adventure, head to the Black Mountains Gliding Club for a chance to experience the thrill of gliding and enjoy stunning birds eye views of the surrounding landscape; alternatively, if you fancy trying your hand at a range of watersports, travel to Llangorse Lake for kayaking, windsurfing, and fishing opportunities. From your doorstep, uncover the unspoiled beauty of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, with plenty of hiking, cycling and wildlife-watching opportunities!

Cantref Adventure Farm - LD3 8LR
about 8 Miles
Cantref Adventure Farm offers hours of indoor and outdoor fun for the whole family. Inside there is a huge soft play area with a separate area for toddlers as well as ball pools, climbing frames, slides and chutes. The Cannon balls are a big hit with children of all ages. New for 2010 is the Badgers quest interactive maze. Outside there is a play area, large boating lake with paddle boats, nature trails with clues and quizzes and an agility course. At only £29.00 for a family of 4 the park offers outstanding value for money.
Lama Trekking at Old king Street Farm - NP16 6AA

Lamas are gentle, affectionate and unique animals and Lama Trekking is fast becoming a popular family attraction. At Old king Street Farm you can spend the day with the charming creatures and enjoy feeding them, grooming them and having a stroll through the woodland. Lamas are not ridden but they can carry all the picnic essentials including tables and chairs! Lama Treks around the stunning Black Mountains are also available. 
Rhondda Heritage Park - CF37 2NP
about 20 Miles
Rhondda Heritage Park is located at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery and is a popular attraction with a range of facilities including a visitor centre, an art gallery, a gift shop, and a lovely period re-constructed Village Street.  Fully guided tours are available and include multimedia presentations as well as a unique trip underground where visitors will experience the life of a coal miner. The site also boasts a children's play area and an underground experience zone.
Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB
about 25 Miles
Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.

Queenswood Country Park has a stunning location offering panoramic views of the countryside. The area is abundant with wildlife and you can see how many species you can spot while enjoying the nature trails. The park also has a large children play area and a licensed café. Seasonal activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and at peak times of the year including Halloween events and crafting sessions as well as ranger led walks.
