Sycamore Cottage Dunwich Reviews

Emma Turner
We stayed in the cottage recently and found it to be a lovely, peaceful spot at the front of the park, perfect for a quiet getaway. Out of season, it felt really calm, though we wonder how it might be during peak times. A few issues popped up-hot tub, bathroom drainage, outside light, boiler-but the staff were super apologetic and did their best to fix things quickly. We’d just love to see more vegan options on the bar menu since most local pubs cater well for vegansand the area itself is stunning with great walks and a lovely beach. The shop was well stocked too!
Emma
Lovely little place, perfect spot for a relaxing break.
Alex
We really loved the location of the cottage, super handy for exploring the area. The hot tub was a highlight - always clean and ready to go. Sadly, the inside of the place was a letdown; cleanliness was quite poor. Stained furniture, sticky dining surfacesand mouldy shower tiles were disappointing. We also found dead insects on the bedding, which was pretty off-putting. Really wanted to enjoy it more, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Emma
We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage, really felt like a home away from home. The spot is perfect for dog walksand our family enjoyed the nearby beach, even if it’s a bit pebbly and the stairs are a climb! The Jack and Jill bathroom was great for our nervous kiddo, making bedtime easier with doors left open. The internal stairs are quite steep and twisty, so not ideal if you have mobility issues. Would definitely return, such a great place!
James
The cottage was decent overall, but we had a few issues. The roof seemed to have gapsand squirrels or other vermin kept us awake at night scratching around. We reported it, but nothing changed, so we ended up sleeping on the sofas downstairs. The hot tub was nice, but the light there was broken too. Would’ve appreciated some compensation for the trouble.
Emma Carter
We loved the spot, just a short walk to a tranquil beach and plenty of lovely walks around RSPB Minsmere. The hot tub was a real treat and kept perfectly clean. The cottage was tidy but a bit worn out in places. Having a restaurant on-site was handy, even if it wasn’t open every evening.
Amelia
We loved the cottage’s kitchen and the hot tub was a real treat! The dining table was perfectly placed next to the kitchen, making meals easy. The park nearby was lovelyand the 13 Lost Churches restaurant served fantastic food. The beach was beautifuland those seals? Absolutely adorable. Only downside was no WiFi, which felt a bit isolating.
Jamie
We had such a lovely stay at this charming cottage. The decor is really tasteful and adds a cosy vibe. The hot tub was definitely a highlight - perfect for relaxing after exploring. The staff were super friendly and always willing to help. The kitchen had everything we neededand everything was spotless. We enjoyed a nice walk to Dunwich for dinner at The Ship and loved the moody walk back along the beach. Minsmere was a short strolland Southwold’s two-hour walk was a real treat. Will definitely come back!
Emma Carter
We really enjoyed our time at Sycamore Cottage. It’s warm, cosyand well-equipped, making it feel like a home away from home. The location was perfect for walking our two dogsand any small issues with the equipment were sorted quickly without any hassle. Thanks to the friendly on-site team for a lovely stay!
Emma
The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. The hot tub was super clean, with pH levels checked twice daily. Staying in October, it was warm and cosy. Definitely recommend this place!

The beds and sofa were super comfy, making relaxing easy. The kitchen and dining area were perfect for our needs. The hot tub was definitely a highlight! Plus, being dog friendly with a secure garden made it even better. The location was ideal-close to the beach and perfect for walks with the dog. Would definitely come back!
Emma

James
This spot was really comfyand the dog-friendly vibe rocks!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location was perfect, with easy access to all kinds of walks and just a short stroll to the beach. The dog walk area was a lovely touch-our pup loved it! It’s so tranquil there, the only sound being the sea. Definitely a nice, relaxing spot to unwind.
James
Charming place, peaceful, loved it all
Mark
The cottage has top-notch appliances and all the essentials for a great stay. The location's absolutely stunning too, we loved it!
Emma Jones
We loved the location, honestly! Being a dog-loving family, everything was within walking distance - the beach, the heath, cute villages. The campsite was lovelyand having a shop plus pub on-site was really handy. It stayed peaceful too, so it didn’t feel busy at all. The cottage was comfy and pretty clean, though it could do with some TLC. The only downside was the bathroom mirror, which was a bit of a letdown. We spent loads of time out exploring, so it didn’t spoil our trip. The hot tub was a real treat too!
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay! The cottage felt super cosy, like a proper home from home. The hot tub was such a treatand the walks around were lovely. Only small gripe was the pillows, but no big deal. Would definitely come back!
Emma
We had a really pleasant stay at the cottage, especially loved the hot tub and the enclosed garden - perfect for relaxing. The location on the holiday park is ideal, just a short walk to the beach. The play area was great and well stocked, keeping the kids entertained. The restaurant served delicious food and the shop had plenty of choices, though we did miss fresh fruit and veg. Staff were super friendly and helpful, which made a difference. Only downside was no WiFi or mobile signal in the cottage, but there was WiFi at the restaurant and decent phone signal around the park.
Emma Roberts
This cottage truly exceeded our expectations. The stunning sea views were just a short walk awayand we enjoyed the beach no matter the weather - it’s such a lovely spot. The area around the cottage is bursting with wildlife and scenic walks, which made our stay even better. Inside, it was spacious, spotlessand smelled fresh, no sign of previous dogs. The food was definitely a highlight-those homemade pies are award-worthy! Plus, the staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming. We can’t wait to come back!

The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.

Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX

This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 28 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
