We had a fabulous weekend stay in Damselfly (Toad cottage). We were a group of 5 and had plenty of room. The setup was great, spotlessly clean and the hot tub was a great addition. Comfortable beds, great to have 3 bathrooms for the 5 of us and the kitchen was very well appointed. The wood burner was also a big bonus especiallly after a dip in the Read morepond! The gym was a big surprise - lots of excellent equipment to use. The grounds were immaculate and we loved the donkeys!! Well be back!! Hide

A well organised cottage in relaxing surroundings. The pool is tranquil all be it unheated but was enjoyable on warmer days. We soon warmed back up in the hottub. The gym is very well equipped too. Owner is welcoming and my children loved the animals.

!SELECTED!The Damselfly Retreat!ENDOFSELECTED! is fantastic. It's in beautiful surroundings and very private, with plenty of parking. The lodge itself is stunning. The rooms are spacious with lots of storage space and bathroom facilities for each room. The living room is very cosy, and it was so warm, without even using the log fire. The kitchen wa s well equipped and spacious, with a big dining table. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over Christmas, making memories with our family. Would highly recommend, and would love to go back

Lovely lodge with hot tub & warm outdoor shower. Outside seating overlooks the ponds with lots of waterlillies & dragonflies also the natural pool. 2 main bedrooms are spacious with ensuite showers & single room downstairs with walk-in shower. Kitchen has lots of useful items & lounge is large with games to play, a great tv with dvd & streaming ser vices & wifi. 2 donkeys are in the nearby field & chickens roam around. Well equiped gym & a sauna.

We had a wonderful stay here - the natural swimming pool is beautiful and has amazing, clean water, surrounded by water lilies, dragon flies and trees. The lodge was beautifully clean and really well equipped. The kids had a brilliant time around the grounds and we found loads to do nearby. Loved it.

Great lodge in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature and ideal for a very relaxing break. Wonderful facilities and good clear instructions for the hot tub, pool and everything else in and around the lodge. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel very much at home. Great base for exploring the lovely towns and villages in the area and close to l ocal cider producers, vineyards, a distillery and farm shops.

Set away from the road, in an Oasis of delightful calm and in a beautiful setting, Toad Lodge, ( Damselfly) was simply wonderful. Comfortable and equipped to a very high standard, this 3 bedroom Lodge had panoramic views of the swimming lake and is surrounded by beautiful woodland. We couldn't fault the set up and Shelly and Clive, the owners could n't have been more helpful. A great find and we look forward to another visit.....

The area is abundant with wildlife and you can see how many species you can spot while enjoying the nature trails. The park also has a large children play area and a licensed café. Seasonal activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and at peak times of the year including Halloween events and crafting sessions as well as ranger led walks.

Spetchley Park and Gardens in Worcestershire are the perfect place for a day trip all year round. During the summer months the gardens are really at their best with beautiful displays of flora and fauna. Many families choose to bring a picnic and there are several picnic tables in the grounds. The deer park is also a big hit with children as well as grown ups. The onsite tea room serves tasty sandwiches and cakes and uses local produce where possible.

Lamas are gentle, affectionate and unique animals and Lama Trekking is fast becoming a popular family attraction. At Old king Street Farm you can spend the day with the charming creatures and enjoy feeding them, grooming them and having a stroll through the woodland. Lamas are not ridden but they can carry all the picnic essentials including tables and chairs! Lama Treks around the stunning Black Mountains are also available. 
Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB
about 18 Miles
Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.

Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun. During school holidays the area is very popular with tourists and with families and daily activities can be enjoyed.
