Stoney-Brook Lodge Reviews

Jennifer
We had a fantastic week at the cottage in November. Hot tub was a great way to relax after exploring the area with the dogs. Cottage was comfortable and well appointed. Despite the time of year we managed to get some lovely views across the valley, especially around sunrise and sunset. Marie was friendly and helpful when required. She left us to enjoy our break but was always available if we needed anything.

This is my second stay at Stoney Brook and I love it, Marie is super helpful and made me feel at home. I travel alone, and this time with my cats who didn't enjoy it so much if you want to bring cats then you can rest assured that there are two wardrobes perfect for them to hide above all week apparently. My cats don't dash out the door which is handy as the cottage is open plan so they'd be straight out if they did, and Marie didn't bat an eye about me rearranging the furniture to accomodate my needs. I think she's got the level of equipment just right, I stayed for a week and there was everything I wanted to hand. The location is just stunning, you can't see any other houses from the windows and hot tub and it is so relaxing. The bed is super comfortable and the duvet and pillows are really nice too. I didn't try the TV so can't comment on that but the wifi was really good, stable and fast and worked in the hot tub too. I feel the cold, but with the electric heater on and the wood burner going it got toasty pretty quick. The outside area is stunning and even while inside the cottage you can hear a brook nearby, a nice touch while you are in the hot tub.

StoneyBrook Lodge is a little slice of heaven. Its spotlessly clean, well appointed with all the touches of home, making it a really comfortable and effortless stay, but its the setting that makes this place stunning. The view is just wonderful. And being able to sit in either the hot tub or the outdoor lounge area and enjoy it felt like the height of luxury and relaxation. The owners are nearby if you have any issues we had none but are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. I cant recommend StoneyBrook Lodge highly enough. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I hope were back in beautiful Shropshire very soon.

The property would benefit from having a table and chairs on the veranda we do like to sit outside in the mornings with a coffee and take in the view but we couldn't do that There was nowhere to put our rubbish outside therefore animals got into the bags outside Another of the jets on the hot tub was not working as they should be The TV was too small for the room sounded very tinny when trying to watch a film There was not enough baking trays for the oven There was not any microwave containers The picture needs to be changed on sykes website because it is old due to what the property looks like now we was very Dissappointed and that is the first of everyone's impressions ,the flooring needs attention due to in the living and kitchen area The windows need attention Freezer was not big enough for a family In the food cupboard there was jars still at least half full or more with it being well over date! ! Should of been binned
Absolutely amazing lodge, we loved the outside space, the hot tub in particular. Its the perfect set up. Thanks for an awesome time.
A wonderful place to stay with everything you need to be home from home and more with lovely views and hot tub. thanks for a great holiday
Lovely location, hot tub and views were fabulous
We could not fault this lovely little cottage. To get away from everyday life and just relax. Cottage was ideal, beds so comfortable. And bonus to have the jacuzzi on site, especially in the evening as the sun set with a view overlooking the valley. We needed some tips on the log fire and John was straight over to explain and with enough wood for our stay. Would definitely come back to such a beautiful place. Thank you Marie for everything.
Brilliant location, lodge and owners. Had an amazing time walking in clee hills and the picturesque surroundings. The owners were really helpful and we'd definitely want to come back
A total rural gem and oasis of calm, the outside space really made it for us as a family. The outdoor kitchen area and hot tub were perfect, and we made full use of them. Fabulous location for exploring the surrounding area by day and chilling by night. Marie was lovely reassuringly there if needed but not intrusive thank you.
Claire
What a wonderful week away! Marie was so accommodating to our needs and was close at hand if we needed her. The property and the views are breathtaking. Space inside is tight but with the all weather outside area it doubles the available space during all types of weather. Very comfortable and cosy. Lots to do around Bedlam giving plenty of days out as well a lazy days in the hot tub. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you again Marie
Nicola
This was our second visit to the property. The last one was for a weekend in December and we wanted to experience it in the summer. We had a lovely week. Marie left us some milk and cake and checked to see if we needed any wood for the log burner because it was a bit chilly for June. We knew we could ask if we needed anything but we didn't and we were left to ourselves. It's a lovely secluded place, just a short walk up the hill there's the footpath for the Shropshire Way. We enjoyed the hot tub and the views from it over the fields. You can see for miles. It's amazing. The lodge is lovely and comfortable, spacious but with a cosy feel. There are no negatives at all. I'd love to go again.
The property was in a lovely area with stunning views from the accommodation. However the property as nice as it was could do with a little tlc As it is looking a bit tired in places. The out building with hot tub and bbq is a nice touch. Like I said nice property but needs a little money put back into it.
Gorgeous lodge in a stunning location! The owners were lovely and extremely helpful. The lodge was really nice with lovely decor. What sets this property apart is the outside space and the incredible view! Yes its remote but this is clear in the details and thats the appeal for us. We loved being able to walk our dogs straight from our lodge up Clee Hill. Our dogs loved the gardenfield but just a note to say it isnt fully enclosed, it has a drop one side down to the brook and our dogs kept disappearing into the bushes behind the lodge looking for pheasants! It wasnt a problem for us but worth noting if your dogs are more adventurous!
Property was as described in a beautiful secluded area. Marie came to introduce herself to us & brought wood for the log burners. Nothing was too much trouble as we needed to contact about something & she came over in minutes. We would recommend this property if you need to relax & chill out.
We had an amazing stay over Christmas 2021. The lodge is beautiful, warm and inviting, made more so by the little extra touches of a Christmas tree and a welcome bottle of Prosecco and mince pies . It was extremely cosy and very warm, especially with the log burner lit. We especially enjoyed the hot tub looking out over the wonderful views, we couldnt have asked for a better way to spend Christmas, completely relaxed and chilled. Marie and Neil were fantastic, very supportive and helpful. We will definitely be returning for Christmas again, thank you.
Great visit to StoneyBrook. Just as described, very clean and comfortable. Excellent outdoor space to reflex, plus the hot tub is an added bonus. Marie, the owner very helpful if anything is needed during your stay. We will be back next year, highly recommend this lovely place.
Denise
The views from this property are truly amazing. Hot tub added bonus. Relaxing atmosphere.
Melanie
I didn't know what to expect as recently some of stays the places haven't matched up to the photos, but this place was genuinely better than the photos! Completely secluded, convieniently located and supplied with everything and more I could want! It is a neat little place and comfortable with it. I took a holiday alone and brought some bits to keep me occupied which meant moving the furniture around but the owner didn't mind at all, I just used the place as I wished, I've booked again for next year.
Stuart
Stunning location. Great lodge and outdoor area creating a very social environment. Host, Marie, was amazing. 1010 all around. Lodge, cleanliness, outdoor area, host etc,
If you want peace and quiet, fantastic views and a beautiful cabin then this is the place for you! The outside space is phenomenal and the hot tub completed a perfect holiday. We had a great mix of days out plus relaxing days at home, it really is in a fantastic location and easy to get to as the directions are foolproof. There are books and games at the lodge we took our own but really wasnt necessary and we found it well equipped, plenty of room for us and we are a family of 4 grown up children. Marie, who owns the property called us when the lodge was ready and was only a short trip away if we needed anything. She is lovely and helpful. We took our own towels for the hot tub towels are provided but its nice to keep the lodge towels for showers etc and packed robesdressing gowns to pop on after the hot tub. Marie checks the hot tub during the stay so you know its all running fine, theres also a hose pipe to top up the tub should you need to. I highly recommend Stoney Brook Lodge, 1010 You will not regret booking this, we really had the best family break there!
Chantal
We have had a wonderful week away. Photos don't do justice to that amazing view and the outdoor area was perfect to sit out even if it rains. The garden isn't fenced all the way round but our dog never ventured from the lawn area so it should be fine for most the areas that aren't fenced are surrounded by shrubslong grass. It would have been nice to have dressing gowns for getting out of the hot tub and a couple of hooks to hang our towels on but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stoneybrooke Lodge to our friends so thank you again Marie for a wonderful stay!
Fantastic lodge with great facilities and a stunning view across the hills we will be back.
Deborah
We had a wonderful time at StoneyBrook Lodge, the living areas were very comfortable with everything you could need for a great holiday. The outside area is incredible, its such a party area! We used the hot tub every day and the kids really enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the fire. The weather was brilliant all week so we were out there at every opportunity. Clee Hill is just above the property and is a great walk, the view from the top is amazing. We took our dogs up there a few times and they had a whale of a time. We would definitely recommend staying here and would visit again. The only feedback we thought of during our stay was that it would be even more perfect if it had a couple more bedrooms so a larger group could stay as the outdoor area is definitely perfect for groups.
Gorgeous cottage, amazing outside space. Loved cooking steak on the grill and sitting in the hot tub with that view! Worth the drive out to the various places we wanted to visit with our 7 year old. The Habberley Trail, West Mid Safari Park, Ironbridge. Make sure you walk up the 'incline' from the lodge to the old quarry buildings, got some great eerie industrial photos up there. Only complaint is that the directions to the property not very accurate and the postcode in the sat nav took us to the wrong place. No sign for Bedlam until you actually reach Bedlam and it's not on any map!? Two entrances to Bitterley from the A road, both 1 12 miles not 1!
We had a fabulous 4 nights stay at Stoneybrook Lodge. Marie and Neil were excellent hosts and couldn't do enough for us! Amazing location overlooking the beautiful countryside, great location for exploring the wonderful landscape. A visit to the Ludlow Farm Shop c10 minutes away is a must, as is a trip to the Ludlow Brewery!
Stuart
The cottage itself is beautiful, as are the grounds. We took our two dogs and having a secure garden is extremely important. The log burners, the hot tub and the general feel of the place made it an extremely relaxing weekend, especially at the beginning of December. There is something lovely about sitting in a hot tub with a fire roaring and the sound of rain on the roof... Ludlow is a beautiful old town and I would recommend at least having a look around the castle while you're there even if you do nothing else. One tip. Read the directions on the emails and the app. Ignore Google Maps when trying to get to the cottage. If you don't it will take you on a journey I can only compare to a Top Gear Special. Yes, you'll make it, but the car might need to be shot and put out of its misery. A lovely place that I would be happy to return to, perhaps in the summer next time.
Absolutely beautiful lodge peace and quiet and very restful. Inside and outside absolutely brilliant. Owners were friendly and anything needed was provided. Will definitely go back.
An amazing stay, beautiful views that seemed never ending! We didnt want to leave a will definitely be back!
The lodge and setting was fantastic. We had a thoroughly relaxing holiday and would highly recommend Stoneybrook lodge to anyone wanting a nice peaceful break. As the lodge is off the beaten track a bit I would recommend people arriving with enough food and drink to make it through the first night as once you get to the lodge you wont want to leave to visit the supermarket.
Michelle
Marie the owner was so helpful bringing more Logs and kindling for the fire Even got to look around the new lodge down the hill which has just gone on Sykes hillside lodge! Thank you
The Lodge is warm and cosy, especially with the wood burner in use. It was a particularly cold and wet week with snow showers and high winds, had we not had the log burner on then it would have been cold as there is only a small electric heater in the living area. We did have to ask the owner for more wood and she kept us supplied with regular topups. In fact the owner, Marie, was quick to respond to any requests or needs that were pointed out to her. The directions to the Lodge should mention that it is necessary to take the lane marked as No Through Road to get to Bedlam and the lodge. There are two lodges, with Hillside on the left and Stoney Brook on the right hand side of the lane when travelling uphill. The location is nice with extensive views over a valley over and beyond Ludlow.
Lovely place, in a beautiful location that's so peaceful, The views are amazing! Perfect cottage, clean and well stocked. Had a great few days away relaxing and chilling out in the hot tub which is clean and well maintained. Only saw the owner as we checked in but she lives near by and is very welcoming and friendly. Even though it is remote, it easy to find if you use the postcode provided on satnav. Will definitely be back again and have already been recommending it to everyone!
Nicola
Fantastic location. Beautiful Lodge. Really friendly and helpful owners . locals really friendly too. We had such a brilliant time, we have already re booked !! As for the hot tub , it was really the icing on the cake!!
Charlotte
We love this place, this was our 3rd visit and on the way home booked again. It is our off grid haven but WiFi and TV if needed!. We love the walk from the lodge up the hills, views are amazing. Our dogs love it here too and letting them run about in the garden off lead makes life so much easier than places where they have to be harnessedleadstaked. You need leads on for walks because of sheep so running free in the garden is great. Mortimer forest is a great trip out. Marie is a wonderful host, she makes you feel like friends returning from the first visit. Anything you need she sorts immediately.
We had a fabulous week, the property was clean and welcoming. The hot plate in the hot tub shack was an excellent addition to the already well stocked kitchen. The wood burner and hot tub are wonderful features as were the daily visiting sheep. The owner was welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. An excellent property for a restful and relaxing holiday.
Valerie
This is a sweet little lodge over looking beautiful far reaching views of Shropshire and possibly Herefordshire. We were well looked after by the host who checked the hot tub daily, providing a welcome pack on arrival and plenty of logs for the wood burner. Very relaxing breakaway in an isolated location. We would highly recommend this holiday accommodation if your looking for peace and quite. We will book again.
Stephen
Fabulous views from the Lodge, owners very helpful
Just returned from a fabulous weeks stay, the lodge and outside area are both beautiful and spacious. Such a tranquil place with fabulous views in a great location not far from Ludlow town centre. Would definitely return.
