The Turnip House Reviews

Joanne
The property was clean, tidy and well equipped. The welcome pack was thoughtful and we really enjoyed the homemade cake. The property is a little tired, just tiny things like scratched floor, rusty radiator, dishwasher not working. It was expensive for 5 nights so I would have expected a little more, but its a beautiful location and we had a nice time. I also think the front door should be knocked by anyone checking the hot tub rather than just coming through the back fence, whether or not they shout hello first. I didnt hear them so was surprised to find 3 people there when I came downstairs on Monday afternoon.
Lovely property with great facilities in a beautiful location. My only gripe is the 4pm check in and 930 check out although I understand the challenge and need for cleaning, etc.. Have previously stayed at The Wain House too. Excellent. Hope to stay again in the future.

We stayed almost 2 weeks at Turnip house, and really enjoyed it, the rooms were very nice and the kitchen well equipped. We enjoyed sitting in the yard in the late afternoon as it is a sun trap. The surrounding are is beautiful and the local pubs all served excellent food, though its best to book rather than just show up. The cottage is a good base for exploring ShropshireHereford being close to Church Stretton, Ludlow and Much Wenlock which are nice towns.

Turnip House was perfect for a family holiday and we were made to feel very welcome our party included a toddler and a dog. The accommodation was ideal for all of us and the staff met all our needs with speed, thoughtfulness and care. Everyone was extremely friendly and the facilities were as advertised.
The property was just perfect for a relaxing Christmas break Chloe a member of staff were so welcoming and couldnt do anymore. Made sure we was settled and didnt require anything else for our stay We had everything required and more all the little touches and extras mince pies and wine and chocolate was a lovely touchtreat Lovely walks, taking in some wonderful views with our dogs was perfect The hot tub and games room was a bonus note you need 0.50ps for the pool table Not far you have a farmers vending machine with fresh milk and bits in if you run out Thank you for a lovely stay hope to revisit again in the near future Many Thanks Mrs Kelly
Lovely, cosy cottage with some nice touches. Our only gripe, the close proximity of next door's hot tub the other side of the partitioning fence close to our French Doors. A large family were holidaying there, who enjoyed using the hot tub especially in the evenings. Regretfully we could hear the chatter even with doors and windows shut, which was irritating. Spoke to Chloe Nicholson at Westhope and suggested management moved said hot tub to other end of courtyard which would be much better for all.

We enjoyed our stay at the Turnip House , with plenty of space to relax and a fabulous hot tub. The cottage was spotless, bright and airy with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, and having a downstairs bedroombathroom was a real bonus for me with my limited mobility. Disability friendly indeed. The little extra treats are such a welcome. The men enjoyed the games room too. We enjoyed the area very much and look forward to a return visit.

Superb property in a picturesque location facilities provided were great especially the beautiful cake! Spacious hot tub was perfect for larger number of people staying and the free to use games room is an excellent addition for those rainy days! Would highly recommend
Weve just returned from a wonderful week at Turnip House. The property is spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable yet cosy too. It is very well maintained and an ideal base to explore the area. Would definitely return!
Just an amazing break. Peaceful and tranquil yet in good driving distance to Ludlow and Church Stretton. The hot tub was fantastic. The small gym was great, the games room could do with a like bit of maintenance but still great to have for the kids. Will definitely look at revisiting at some point. Thank you for the complimentary welcome pack. Very much appreciated.

Great for a couple of nights away from it all although a bit remote as w3 like to walk to a local pub. We managed overall but one main issue we had was on the second day we went for a long walk in the morning and came back early afternoon and the lady came to check the hot tub and put a hose in to refill with cold water and we had to wait for the temperature to get hot enough for us to go in and enjoy. Everywhere weve been before our hot tub was checked and sorted early morning so we could use from midday onwards.
Christine
Loved the property, hot tub and games room. But hated the position regarding the cart track roads leading to it from both directions.
We stayed for a week at the Turnip House and enjoyed every minute. The cottage is lovely and the surrounding countryside beautiful. There was a homemade cake, a bottle of wine and some chocolates waiting for us on our arrival which was a nice touch. The cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped, and the garden enclosed and private. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. I would definitely recommend the Turnip House and hope to be back there myself one day.
Fantastic cottage in peaceful spot. Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Welcome gifts of milk, homemade cake and wine appreciated. Loved the games room and hot tub. Lots of lovely walks nearby.
Warm, clean and comfortable. Hot tub amazing. The cake and wine were a lovely surprise. The peaceful surroundings and walks are good. Games roomgym fabulous. Thoroughly recommend and would return.
Rachel
Absolutely brilliant! ! So relaxin, we walked in to mince pies and mulled wine. The Christmas tree was a lovely touch made us all smile. Kids loved the hot tub! Beds were comfortable and clean. House was spotless. Will definitely be booking again. Thank you
Amanda
Wonderful scenerylocation, well appointed and so many home from home comforts. Thoroughly enjoyable and the games room is a godsend for those with teenagers to keep them entertained! The hot tub is totally relaxing. Would highly recommend and love to return.
Rachel

Louise

Great stay. Everything we needed. Arrived a bit early but we were accommodated. My dad requires regular oxygen supply and this request for accepting delivery was met with ease. Loved the hot tub. Onsite team very friendly and even offered local fishing suggestions. Kettle stopped working but as soon as we advised a replacement was sort. Lots of good communication before our stay too. Thanks for a great stay. Would definitely recommend and return! Thank you.

Lovely stay, place was private but cosy and even complimentary cake, wine and chocolate was waiting on our arrival, hot tub was fantastic, such a hand spot for walking in Carding Valley, stunning scenery, would definitely book again
Had a fantastic stay at the property. It was clean, the beds were comfy and it was lovely to have the kitchen, dining and lounge area all in the one space. The hot tub was the best I've ever been in! The gym and games room were well equipped. The staff were very helpful and friendly going out of their way to make sure our stay went well. I'd happily return.
Charlotte
Absolutely beautiful cottage, me, my friends and family had the best time! We came back and tried to rebook for christmas, understandably its fully booked! The cottage was clean and decorated perfectly, we took everything we needed so didnt feel like we had to go anywhere during out entire stay! Highly recommend!!
Fantastic barn conversion clean tidy plenty of room good quality kitchen the beds were comfortable. Bathroom was nice great shower upstairs. I loved the balboa hot tub my family really enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this accommodation its worth the money you will enjoy it.
The distance from the main road could be a problem for some visitors and perhaps needs highlighting. Would have benefited from extra crockery particularly when dishwasher was operating.
Patricia
Fabulous property with great facilities. Hot tub was a particular hit. Lots of great walking straight from the door. The tv was a little eccentric but then we didnt go to watch tv. There is an art college that run great art & craft courses on the doorstep. This would be a great place to stay while attending one of their courses. The arrival time was a little late and checkout time a little early but other than that it was great.
We had a great week at Turnip House. The cottage was very spacious, clean and inviting. The treats when we arrived were a lovely welcome too. We enjoyed the tub tub every day which was easy to use and manage which my children also enjoyed. We did the Alpaca Experience with an afternoon tea after which was amazing and situated right next door. Even though the weather wasn't great my boys loved the games room and we were able to borrow board games and DVD's. We hope to return to Turnip House another time.
It was such a beautiful cottage, a lot bigger than expected abs everyone was so friendly. LOVED our Alpaca experience which was behind the cottage. It was perfect for kiddies! Thank you for making my birthday so special during a global pandemic.
Such a lovely cottage in such a lovely spot. The cottage was comfortable and we had such a great week wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
Alexis
Sykes cottages team were so helpful. Thank you for helping us find a holiday where we could take our cats, we really appreciate all the efforts the team went to find a perfect accommodation.
Staff were great, very welcoming . Full of useful local information . Very well kept and well stocked property.
Had a fab weekend at The Turnip House, everything was clean and well maintained, host was very friendly and on hand if there were any issues. Great cottage for family time. This is the second time we have stayed at these cottages and would highly recommend, certainly try and return soon.
Just over all excellent! Everything you needed to make a perfect week. After coming back from days out, our evenings and nights were made spot on by the comfort, facilities and atmosphere of the cottage.
Perfect in every way
Steven
Fantastic cottage well equipped. Welcome gifts were a lovely touch. Hot tub was perfect and games room was fab for the kids. Thank you to the very nice owner for meeting us there to check we arrived ok, showed us how to work the hot tub and gave the kids a pumpkin each. Holiday was perfect and we will be going back.
Jennifer
I stayed at turnip house for two nights with 5 of my friends for my hen weekend. The house was just perfect it was spotlessly clean, the landlady made us feel very welcome with a bottle of wine, a homemade cake which was delicious and a jug of milk from the farm waiting for us, as well as a big bar of Cadbury chocolate. Those small and thoughtful touches really made a difference. The landlady popped in to top up the shemicals in the hot tub and was very friendly, chatty and helpful. We felt well looked after and had a wonderful time!
It is a very well organised cottage, lovely and comfortable . Really good welcome pack and nice to have a meet and greet to show us around. I had requested a couple of extra things from the owner and her return emails were prompt and friendly.
Rebecca
The cottage was amazing. All the little added extras just made it stand out from all the other cottages that we have stayed in before. The owner was great and very welcoming. Perfect relaxation. Just what we needed as a family
Anna-marie
Fantastic lodge. This is our second time staying. Love the attention to detail, small homely touches!
Kathryn
A lovely place that was very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was a lovely treat. A friendly welcome from the owners and a lovely welcome pack of goodies. We will definitely return.
