We had a wonderful time at The Brae as a mini getaway after our wedding. The hut felt secluded yet we were still able to walk into the village for food and drink at the local pub and then enjoyed coming back to the log fire and hot tub in an evening! We love the Yorkshire coast and it was a great place for us to go back to Whitby and we also had a wander around the lovely Thornton le Dale close by. Thank you for a lovely relaxing and romantic trip!

Amazing weekend away, we were left completely to our own devices which is what we wanted, had everything we would ever have needed & the location was brilliant! Having to turn round the right corner was a little stressful the first time but you get used to it after that would absolutely recommend and would love to go back! Hot tub was an amazing highlight.

Cabin was lovely and clean, shower wasnt very warm and the hot tub wasnt very powerful at all and left us very disapointed. The write up said there was a chip shop and a shop close by both looked like they had been closed down for a long time. The drive upto the property is very very tight and no path through the garden to the cabin is difficult in bad weather when it gets muddy.

We had a lovely long weekend at The Brae, The hut was well maintained and offered good facilities. The hot tub was amazing after a day of exploring the surrounding area. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to escape for some quiet relaxation, whilst also offering a good base to explore North Yorkshire.

This was such a fabulous stay! The instructions are really clear on how the get there and use everything once you're there. The ducks and chickens are fabulous to wake up to and the hot tub to close out a relaxing day reading or after coming back from an adventure. Can definitely recommend and we will most likely be back!

We had a lovely couple of days at this shepherd's hut which was comfortable and well maintained. The hot tub was an added bonus. Owners have thought of everything you could possibly need even down to board games.

Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Was lovely to wake up and hear the ducks quacking in the morning! Lots of places nearby to visit such as York, Hull, Whitby and Scarborough with some hidden local gems along the way. Hot tub facilities were lovely and very nice and private back area. Owners welcoming and lovely. Hut itself was super clean and cute with lovely features and decor. Well stocked kitchen appliances and utensils. Only niggle would be for some larger bath towels but other than that is the perfect retreat! Also just to be aware the driveway is quite narrow, most cars will fit completely fine but may not be suitable for wide cars and 4x4s.

We had the best stay at the brae! Such a warm welcome, everything was perfect! We ordered a hamper and it was such a lovely touch, highly recommend! The hot tub was fab, we enjoyed watching the birds and rabbits from it! We loved the ducks, we named them Madge and Mel from Benidorm and enjoyed waking up to them each morning! We highly recommend the brae for your holiday! We will be back for sure!

Lovely shepherds hut nice to be woken by the dawn chorus of birds and wild rabbit. Cosy hut with great facilities. Tricky turn in and out of the driveway but manageable in a small car. Lovely place.

Just a few points we noticed while staying Some hooks round the back at the hot tub would be great for towelsdressing gowns. Some coat hooks inside would be great. A bumper on the corner on the flagstone at the fire place or something of the like we may have stubbed our toes a few too many times But honestly such a great cabin with everything you could need its beautiful. Absolutely brilliant 5 night stay! From the moment I pulled up at the property I was greeted by the owner and she explained how to contact her should I need to and if I had any issues or queries to let her know. The hut is lovely, modern yet rustic and very well kept. The hut was in an immaculate state with plenty of equipment to cook with and glasses etc to feel at home. The log burner is brilliant and I spent most of the time with a log or two crackling away as I sat and chilled. The hot tub was a welcome addition to the property. Very secret around the back so noone can overlook you. My only feedback would be if the cottage had a coffee Nespresso machine. I took my own as I enjoy coffee, and if there was a little machine in the kitchen it would have made the place 1110

A fabulous, well needed, weekend break in this lovely little shepherd's hut which had everything you needed for a relaxing break away. It was lovely and clean and very warm. The hot tub was amazing. Owners on hand if needed and the ducks give you a lovely welcome each day. Would recommend the fish and chip shop in the village and Bolli's tearoom just a couple of miles away. Already looking at dates for a return trip. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

The Braes is perfect for a few nights getaway. It's interior is finished to a high standard and clean, warm and cosy. Our hosts Paula and Martyn were excellent and right there if you need them. The hut has its own little front garden and a well screened hot tub area at the back along with BBQ, pizza oven, sun loungers and bench and table. Lovely property not overlooked by neighbours. The friendly little ducks come to meet you at the fence in the mornings. Would highly recommend.

We stayed here for my partners 30th! Paula and Co were very accommodating for us, the place itself was beautifully set out and outweighed our expectations massively. The hot tub was ready when we arrived and was great to relax in after a day full of checking out the local attractions. Our second visit to the Brae and once again we had a great time. The accommodation is everything you need, the location is perfect for visiting the surrounding areas and when you return from a day out you can relax in the hot tub, cook on the pizza oven or bbq and admire the view. The addition of the ducks that greet you every morning was lovely and the hosts Martin and Paula give you privacy while being available should you need them.. great fish n chips in village!!!

We stayed at this beautiful shepherds hut last June as a surprise for my husbands 50th birthday. What a joy, the hosts were both lovely, helpful and very friendly. We arrived on a very hot day and without delay was offered ice so that we could have a cold drink. We enjoyed every moment at this absolutely beautiful place with breathtaking views that we woke up to every morning. The ducksgeese were so funny, it was lovely to be greeted in the morning with them waddling up to the gate. The hot tub was an added extra little bonus which was the icing on the cake and made for our perfect stay. Thank you for a wonderful 50th bday stay!

What a beautiful place! The hut is fantastic and stays warm even in windy conditions! Being able to stargaze while in the hot tub was an amazing experience. If you ever need a break from the day to day hustle and bustle of life then I could not recommend this enough!

The shepherds hut was everything as described when making the booking. Immaculately clean inside and giving you the privacy to enjoy a peaceful getaway yet close enough to other locations should you wish to venture out. I would recommend to other friends or family if they were considering a shepherd hut stay or heading into the county. Psthe ducks and rabbits were good fun to watch.

Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially. A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money. Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs. Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.

Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP

about 8 Miles

If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS

about 8 Miles

Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area. There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.

Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP

about 8 Miles

Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.

Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ

about 8 Miles

This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery. You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water. The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see". You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.

Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW

about 9 Miles

Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out. It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys. Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo. Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.

Castle Howard - YO60 7DA

about 14 Miles

Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.

Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. This all weather attraction caters for toddlers and children up to 12 years old with a huge array of climbing equipment, ball pools, slides, chutes and adventure areas. Adults can relax and enjoy a coffee and a snack while the kids are having fun. The site also has a large and rather impressive outdoor area with pet zone and pedal track with Go karts. There is also a pond with fish and a sensory zone where children can touch and feel new and interesting things.
