Damson Barn Reviews

Kealey
We had a wonderful holiday at Damson Barn. It was everything we could have wished. It was very clean and comfortable and had all the necessities to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. The owners of the farm were very friendly and accommodating. They were only a stone throw away if we needed them. The location of the Barn was fantastic. The lakes were only a short drive away and we were nestled at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dale's too. This has to be the best accommodation that we have stayed at with Sykes. It was the perfect break for us and we will definitely be returning.
Lawson
Lovely property, fantastic location. Katherine and Michael were the perfect hosts.
Wonderful Week, blessed with the Weather
The cottage was perfect. Thoughtfully converted barn with layout and size. Well stocked with everything you need and some lovely touchesRoses in the window! As clean as a house could be! Great family we loved meeting.
Perfect property and location. Absolutely beautiful. Hosts were really lovely. Would highly recommend.
We've just returned from a wonderful week at Damson Barn with our two boys 11 and 13yo. The cottage itself was beautiful, well kept, cosy and comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The hot tub was a huge bonus at the end of a day exploring. It couldn't be located any better, between the Dales and Lake District we were spoilt for choice for where to visit. Mike and Katherine were excellent hosts friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable about the local area. They even gave us a tour of their working farm, which was great fun. Everyone in our family agreed it was one of our best holidays and can't wait to return again one day. Thank you!
Such a lovely property, extremely clean and comfortable. A very gratefully received welcome pack on arrival. Our hosts were brilliant, made to feel we were friends rather than clients. Can 100 recommend if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Nearest pub is about 20 min walk, not bad in summer with long evenings, not sure we'd do it in the short days! Plenty to do in the area so great location. We hope to come back before too long.
Just returned after an amazing week at damson barn. Cottage is perfect in every sense. Katherine and Michael are amazing hosts and the most friendly welcoming couple you could wish for. They involved our little one in them shearing the sheep and made her holiday very special indeed! We will be retuning again most definitely
Jarrod
A real home from home experience, with everything you would need. A very clean property & the owners are very welcoming. The hot tub is a bonus, especially after a long day out. We would definitely recommend Damson Barn.
Caroline
It has been an absolute pleasure to stay at Damson Barn. We have had the best holiday Katherine and Michael are excellent hosts and they really go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The Barn is a great place to stay for both the Lakes and the Dales and the scenery is stunning. Cant praise this property, hosts and location highly enough
We had a fantastic stay at Damson barn. It was our first trip away with our new baby who is 5 months old and it was the perfect place to go. Michael and Katherine are very welcoming and friendly and kindly showed us around the farm and the various animals they keep. The cottage is well equipped and was very clean when we arrived. Kirkby Lonsdale is a short drive away or a nice 45 mins walk. There are plenty of places to eat and drink there, and artisan shops. We also went to Ambleside one day which is about a 35 mins drive. There is a decent pub called the Highwayman about 10 mins drive away that does really good food. We also got a pizza takeaway from the Royal Hotel which was good. Would thoroughly recommend staying and I am sure we will be back..
A lovely conversion, very comfortable and very friendly and helpful owners.
Lovely property tasteful conversion Owners introduced themselves but didnt interfere Would definitely rebook
Jackie
Spotless and comfortable, well equipped and maintained holiday cottage with some thoughtful touches and of course, the hot tub . Katherine and Michael were friendly and helpful. We would definitely book Damson Barn again if we return to the area in the future.
Joanne
Damson barn exceeded all our expectations. The cottage was spotlessly clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped. The hosts were perfect. Friendly, welcoming and charming. They were on hand to help with anything we needed, yet gave us privacy and space to enjoy your holiday and fully relax. A beautiful, scenic area, with so much to do for familes. We loved our holiday here
Very comfortable and spacious. Beautiful rural position, yet within easy but narrow access to main road. A Delightful cottage highly recommend for getting away from it all.
Michael
We had a fantastic time and Damson Barn was beautiful which was further supported by our great hosts Michael and Katherine. Probably one of the best houses and locations weve stayed in with great access to local walks.
Andrew
What a beautiful place to stay. The cottage is perfect we have stayed in lots of holiday cottages over the years but this is by far the best. Michael and Katherine excellent hosts and we hope to be able to return
Just returned from a Perfect week at Damson Barn. From the most welcoming family to the comfort and views of this outstanding home. It is certainly a place that we will return too, and highly recommend, it has everything you need, its been great for getting around to lots of different attractions and returning here to relax and enjoy has been the icing on the cake
Kenneth
Stayed twice before. Property is excellent being clean and well equipped. It is sited in a beautiful and peaceful area. I could not praise the hosts enough. They were extremely friendly and helpful and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable.
A wonderful stay in the beautiful Damson Barn. Very comfortable and well equipped, and in a fantastic location. Thank you.
We have just returned from Damson Barn and we miss it already. It really is a beautiful barn that lived beyond our expectation! The hot tub was a hit for our children! We felt settled within minutes. It is a cozy, clean, modern barn yet its original character still strikes through. Micheal and Katherine were so welcoming and really helpful. Their pictures of routes to the local areas were spot on and our kids loved looking for the next clue in the route!! We really did find a true gem and we cant wait to return!!!
We had a really lovely stay and we were so impressed with the property. It was a lovely location and the facilities within the house were great, especially the hot tub. I was particularly impressed with the Wifi speed, as I wasn't expecting it to be that good, given the location. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. We certainly plan to return in the future.
Beautiful, spacious cottage with everything we needed. Central to the Lakes and the Dales.
Damson Barn is the perfect holiday cottage. It's bright and airy and has everything you could want. It's ideally situated for local activities and amenities. The owners made us feel so welcome that we'll have to go back again soon. Faultless.
Natasha
The property was absolutely everything we hoped for and more. It was stylish and comfortable, clean and practical. The rooms were so spacious and there was nothing that was missing. We were especially surprised at how fast the internet speed was, considering it's such an isolated property. Not that we spent much time on our computers, of course, but it was really great to be able to sit back and watch shows on Netflix and such in the evenings without the internet constantly dropping out, which is a problem we've encountered at other holiday properties far less isolated. The location was wonderful, too. There were so many great restaurants and pubs within a short drive of the property I highly recommend the Italian restaurant in Ingleton that was a highlight of the week for us, and the property was only a short drive to the Lake District just over half an hour to Windermere and we even managed two days out at Blackpool around an hour. I recommend booking restaurants well in advance if you can we were there on half term and found that getting tables at some of the restaurants was a tad tricky, especially on MondaysTuesdays when half of the restaurants in the area were closed. I was slightly hesitant about staying on a working farm because they can get noisy, but we slept with the windows wide open and we weren't disturbed once. Our hosts were wonderful. Katherine was especially friendly, and we loved being shown around the farm and being able to feed the little lambs. If we're in the Lake District again I would definitely make another booking.
Coleen
Just perfect, we felt welcome right from the start of our holiday. Accommodation is first class, comfortable beds, great showers, everything one could need is there.
Kenneth
The property was perfect and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. They created a perfect welcome for anyone staying at their property.
Fantastic cottage, well equipped, clean, comfortable. Excellent hosts Michael and Katherine. Be sure to ask them to take you round the farm to see the animals and explain more about farming. Will definitely return.
Damson barn was everything we could ask for and more. Katharine was very accommodating and even took the time to show us some new born lambs. The barn was absolutely spotless and the hot tub was amazing. I have already recommended to friends and will definitely be booking again. Thank you Katharine!
Leanne
Thank you so much, we had such an amazing time at Damson Barn! We stayed there for 7 nights and every night was fantastic. The barn is situated in a brilliant spot, nestled in the countryside. It was peaceful, picturesque and tranquil and we were far enough from Kirkby Lonsdale to be able to see all the stars at night and not be disturbed by any traffic noise. Our wonderful hosts provided us with information about local days out and activities which was a lovely little touch. Kirkby Lonsdale was about a five minute drive away and is a cute little town. There are lots of lovely walks that you can take in and around this town and even visit 'Ruskin's View' and the Devils Bridge. The town of Kendal is also close by, with Scotland being about a two hour drive away. So there are lots of things to do and places to visit in and around this gorgeous holiday cottage. The barn itself was immaculate. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The underfloor heating is to die for and the hot tub is regularly cleaned and maintained for our use. The beds were comfortable and we have actually gone and bought the same duvet cover set as the ones in the barn as it was the best week's sleep I have ever had. In regards to COVID19, the barn was very well cleaned and our hosts went above and beyond to make sure that they were doing everything they could to help stop the spread of covid. We felt very comfortable there and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who asked. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful holiday barn
This property is well worthy of its Newcomer of the Year Bronze Award. It is presented beautifully, in a quiet, yet convenient location supported by excellent hosts. Such is its excellence that we booked for next year after just the 2nd day of our 1 week stay. We used it as a base for exploring the Western Dales but it is equally convenient for the Sothern Lakes. In forty years of holidaying we have always chosen luxury accommodation at a sensible price. This is probably the best of the best selfcatering accommodation in which we have stayed, providing excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful week at the cottage which is ideally situated on the farm with lovely views from the master bedroom. The cottage itself was like a show house, clean tidy and spacious. Katherine and Michael who work the farm are lovely people who are great to chat too and always make sure everything is ok. You are no more than an hour away from the Lake district area with lovely villages to visit on your journey The whole area is a sight to behold with so much to do. Rain or shine I would recommend a visit and we shall be back. David,Val,Mark & Jeannette

The cottage was spotless and in the perfect location. The owners were lovely and on hand for anything that you needed. Absolutely perfect
Kenneth
Are hosts were very helpful and extremely sociable. Could not do enough to help. Accomodation was extremely well appointed.
Damson Barn exceeded our expectations. It was extremely clean and has clearly been well looked after. All rooms were a lot more spacious than the photos suggest. Lots of room for coats and suitcases. Lovely location overlooking fields. The hot tub was an added bonus. I will be recommending it to my friends and hope to come back.
Graham
Location, facilities, comfort, hosts, all come close to perfection.
Damson Barn is wonderful. It is located in the middle of the countryside with sheep bleating around you wonderfully surreal whilst you are in the jacuzzi! and with a working farm next door. The friendly and helpful owners have thought of everything in this modern barn conversion and the Barn was spotlessly clean. We were very comfortable and made good use of the lovely log fire. The owners greeted us on arrival but then kept their distance unless we wanted directions or information then they were very friendly and helpful. Farmer Michael was also very patient with our many questions about the animals on the farm and in the adjacent fields. Whilst you do need a car to reach Damson Barn there are also some lovely walks directly from the Barn to local villages. Alternatively, other villages with a lot of choices to eatdrink and supermarkets are only a short drive away. For a slightly longer journey about 45 mins, the Lakes are certainly worth a visit they are amazing. We will certainly be booking again. .
Amelia
Me and my partner visited damson barn and it exceeded any expectation we had. The barn was absolutely stunning and the hosts were so accommodating and welcoming. It was immaculate and so beautifully furnished. We wont hesitate to return!
The barn has been renovated to a high standard. It was spotlessly clean. Great location and the family were so welcoming and friendly. Would definitely revisit.
