Buttercup Lodge Reviews

Apart from the used towels from the previous occupant, this was a great place to stay, clean and well equipped. Hot tub was a luxury and we made the most of it! Good location, easy access to Whitby and surrounding activities. Would happy return if we were looking for something in this area

We returned to Paddock Lodges again this year after staying in Rose Lodge in August last year we said we'd be back ! !! Last year I got the impression that the lodges were brand new and fixtures and fittings matched accordingly. It is expected that there be some signs of ware and tear and general usage, but I felt that a few simple house keeping and maintenance practices could be utlilised to keep the lodge in top notch condition and match expectations. For example in Buttercup Lodge the fan in the ensuite shower room did not work and added to the fact that one of the window catches was broken so the window could not be opened to allow steam to escape this ended up in a foisty room, faded and stained shower mats, one of the dining room spot lights needed replacing, the clock needed a new battery, kitchen bin broken and some of the light bulbs in the hot tub needed to be replaced none of these things are major but add up to a little feel of neglect. Also, the the pots and pans had literally been thrown into the cupboard I assume by the previous occupier, just a quick check from cleaning staff to make sure the cupboard was in order would be sufficient. These are small points which were just a little disappointing, overall the lodge was immaculately clean, beds clean and comfortable, garden furniture and hot tub excellent. The site is well kept and tidy. Overall a resounding recommendation, but paying attention to those little details will ensure such high standards
Buttercup Lodge was delightful, Very peaceful setting, very clean and comfortable, lovely beds and pillows. Our little grandson loved the hot tub of course, and the lodge was handy to visit the beach, Whitby on the bus, Scarborough and Flamingo Park. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The property was lovely and clean and very spacious for 4 adults and a dog. The surrounds of the property were clean and tidy. There was everything we needed to cook with which was very handy. We really enjoyed the our stay at the property and exploring the surrounding area so will definitely book again in the future. We could have done with some more black bin liners as we filled ours pretty quickly. Just a note for the hot tub, it was very dark on a night so a small light would be good. Lovely property, thank you for having us
Fantastic place to stay and service was brilliant.

A great lodge in a superb location at the top of Runswick Bay. There's a short but steep walk to the beach and the village is beautiful. The lodge itself was clean and we'll equipped. Situated in a very quiet, small site right next to the Cleveland Way path so good for dogwalkers. I haven't stayed anywhere with a hot tub before and was surprised that you can't turn them off, although we managed to turn it down. They're louder than I expected and switch on and off intermittently through the night. Probably only an issue for light sleepers but, along with the branches of the trees lashing against the roof on a few windy nights, we didn't sleep too well. I probably wouldn't choose a lodge with a hot tub again.

Very comfortable accommodation spotlessly clean and very good utensils etc in lodge. Prosecco and treats along with tea coffee linen n toilet rolls appreciates would definitely come again
Really lovely lodge with everything you could need for a short break away. Very clean and friendly support when required. Lovely welcome pack. Thank you.

Excellent stay. Perfectly clean and tidy. Everything you need is there. An excellent surprise waiting for us a bottle of preseco in the fridge, milk, biscuits and crisps. Almost like they knew it would take us all day to get there ditting for hours in traffic. This is an excellent spot for exploring North Yorkshire

The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS
about 15 Miles
Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 21 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 21 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.
Peasholm Park - YO12 6QQ
about 21 Miles
This attraction is ideal for sunny days as the beautiful park is ideal for wandering out and taking in the scenery.  You can hire boats including rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the views from the water.  The pedalos with the dragon heads are always a popular choice too. Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW
about 22 Miles
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 22 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 29 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Yorkshire Lavender - YO60 6PB
about 29 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
