Tannery Cottage Reviews

Emma
We had a lovely stay at this cottage! The setting is so peaceful and perfect for relaxing. The village charm really caught our heartsand there are plenty of scenic walks right from the doorstep. We also enjoyed trying out some local eateries nearby. The hot tub was a real treat after a day out. Beds were super comfy and the rooms spacious. Parking’s a bit tricky outside, but unloading was easy enough. Would definitely come back!
Emma
Really loved the location and the facilities were spot on. We’d definitely return, it’s such a lovely spot to stay!
Emma
Really loved the cosy, well-stocked cottage!
Emily
We had an absolutely perfect time here, loved every moment of our stay! The place was just what we needed, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the little details made a big difference. We definitely plan to come back again soon, a lovely experience overall for sure. Can’t fault it!
Sarah
This cottage is really well equipped, beautifully decorated, spotlessly cleanand even comes with a welcome pack for dogs! The only downside was the dishwasher; we had a few issues with it and the owner kindly came to take a look but couldn't quite fix the problem. The location is perfect, with walks starting almost immediately from the front door. Dogs and us loved it!!
Clara
The cottage is really pretty and situated in a lovely quiet location. Upstairs was quite pleasant with two good-sized bedrooms. However, downstairs definitely needs a fair bit of work on it.
Sarah
Such a lovely peaceful cottage! There's a cute little stream right out front. Plus, the neighbours were really helpful and friendly!
Lucy
Such a lovely cottage! It's really nicely decorated and in a great location. The owners provided loads of information about the house and how everything works, plus there’s so much to explore nearby. There are plenty of places to eat aroundand we tried The Saddle Room - definitely recommend it!
Emma
What a lovely cottage in the beautiful little village of Harmby! Just a five-minute walk from a waterfall, which is stunning. It feels really remote with no shops in the village, but Leyburn is close by, even if it's not exactly a quick walk. Arriving late on a Friday, we’d definitely advise planning ahead or bringing food for dinner, as options are limited. The wood-fired hot tub is amazing, but it takes about three hours to heat, so keep that in mind. It's located on the front patio and isn’t completely private, but we had such a great time relaxing in it. Just remember, you have to replace the logs and kindling, which feels a bit cheeky!
Sarah
Tannery Cottage is a lovely little cottage tucked away amongst others in a quiet lane. We had a brilliant time exploring the local countryside and nearby areas. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable, plus the hot tub and log burner were great added bonuses that we really enjoyed!
Oliver
This cottage is fabulously equipped, so clean and well equipped in every way, including the decor and trimmings. The hot tub was a bit of a challenge to heat up, but that's probably just me! There are loads of walks nearbyand quite a few villages within easy driving range. The car parking sounded a bit iffy on the website, but it ended up being easy and conveniently close. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
Sophie
We had a lovely stay in the cottage, the location is excellent and it’s beautifully presented! We’d love to come back in a different season.
Linda
This was our second visit to Tanners Cottageand we absolutely love the location! The cottage really feels like a home from homeand that hot tub was a super nice bonus.
Sophie
What a lovely cottage in a gorgeous setting! It really felt comfortable and warm, just like home. It’s so well equipped and incredibly clean too! We'll definitely be returning (maybe when the sun's out!).

This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY

This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
