The Hideaway Reviews

Michael
Good location for the North Yorkshire coast and moors. Good size accommodation, very well stocked with everything you need for your stay. Very happy with our week at this location. Would thoroughly recommend.
This cottage was perfect, exactly how it was pictured and we couldnt have been happier there. The welcome pack was brilliant and very informative and the bed was super comfy, best sleep Ive had in a long time. Im definitely planning on coming back .
Millie
Lovely place. Hot tub was great. Only down side was the lack of added extras. There were tea, coffee and sugar jars, with residue of existing tea and coffee. I assume this means they hadn't been topped up for our stay. Seems minor, but when going away for only 2 nights we didn't think to bring it with us as everywhere we have stayed previous has provided tea, coffee etc. We had a lovely stay, it just felt we paid for the building, nothing more, nothing less. We are used to a little welcome pack? A little milk in the fridge? Maybe some shower soap facilities? Unfortunately, we feel we got the bare minimum. Apart from that the cottage was nice and cosy.
Had a lovely stay at the hideaway. Great location not far from either Scarborough or Whitby. Had all essentials needed like tin foil, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc meaning you didnt have to go out and buy anything. Lovely added extra of the hot tub which we all enjoyed several times during the stay. The only negative I have is the parking is down a very narrow alley up a hill. Not the easiest to park but we managed. Would definitely recommend
A lovely cottage for a family holiday, giving easy access to Dalby Forest and the coast. Local to Pickering for food shopping and has a few local pubs. Love the jacuzzi, a must after a busy day out. Thank you to Laura and her husband for being great hosts and very attentive.
Claire
Great 2 night breakaway. House was easy to find and was more spacious than expected. Hot tub was great! We enjoyed our stay and used it as a base for visiting Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby 40min drive and Filey 25min drive Only downsides Parking very tight turning up the driveway! Apparently can park up the road if cant get into parking space though..although not ideal! Main bedroom very bright in the morning! Would benefit from black out curtains! Only 1 window has curtains, other window office style blinds.. light flooding in! Is on a busy road. The noise didnt bother me although my partner did complain it was too noisy for him.
The property was completely as advertised and is a lovely place to stay and very comfy big bed in the main bedroom. Had a conversation with a lovely neighbour and except the very busy main road Which cant be helped was a very quiet area. Hot tub was nice and warm and was really relaxing. Only comment i would make for the owners is if it had been 2 couples staying the Bathroom door currently does not close and lock. This was not a problem for us as it was just the two of us staying there.
Deborah
Lovely property, we really enjoyed the hot tub. Beds very comfortable. Ideal location to visit some beautiful villages and countryside in the North Yorkshire Moors. Owners are lovely and extremely helpful. Totally enjoyed it and couldnt recommend it enough.
Lesley
Absolutely perfect property for our little birthday getaway weekend. The property was very clean on arrival and has all the essentials needed. Very comfortable all round. Lovely little garden with hot tub which was enjoyed by all. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Eleanor
Loved, loved, LOVED our stay! Can't fault anything, bed was super comfy, hot tub was lovely after a long day's walk and the kitchen was really pretty and well designed. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
Caroline
The cottage is really lovely and cosy, and hot tubgarden is great! We had issues with plumbing in the bathroom sink taps hot tap very noisy and cold tap sometimes didn't work. There was also a leak on the radiator in the back bedroom which resulted in a wet carpet but this was sorted out by the owner the same day. The only feedback I would have is that there were only three wine glasses and three prosecco glasses not matching which was slightly problematic when there were four adults staying there!! There were also only two glass tumblers which was disappointing. I found it slightly odd that bathhand towels were supplied but no tea towel in the kitchen I did see the note saying to bring a tea towel at the bottom of the email, but I just don't see why it could be provided when everything else is?! Overall it was a great cottage in a great location and would stay again if I wanted to visit the area would make sure I brought some glasses with me though! Thanks for a lovely stay
Had a wonderful child free weekend for my husbands birthday he loved his suprise we will be back again thankyou
Rebecca
Loved the cottage, we had a great time. Enjoyed the hot tub on an evening, had a lovely walk to one of the pubs, it was a lovely little getaway!
Nicola
Cosy cottage , loved the hot tub, fab place to chill after lovely walks in and around Yorkshire. Coachman pub in the village , less than 10 minutes walk was very welcoming and food outstanding. Fish and chips available Friday and Saturday was lovely. Would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful stay. Hot tub was perfect. Only downside the front bedroom could of done with a curtain on the side window as the streetlight is very bright.
The cottage is lovely fitted out with good quality furnishings and is ... The cottage is lovely fitted out with good quality furnishings and is spacious the garden and hot tub are magnificent i doubt we'd return tho as we found offputting half a fire lighter no kindling even tho it says all fuel and power included no sugar no coffee no welcome bottle of milk 2 dishwasher tablets worn out sponge for washing up no foil, etc in others words remember to bring everything we were warned in other reviews about this parsimony but regretfully ignored that info
Ashlee
Lovely little cottage. Lush location. Hot tub was fabulous added extra. Had a lovely time celebrating my birthday and valentines. Only downside was the dog poo all over the lane on the way to the parking spot. Difficult to avoid with a child and had to drive over to get out. Had been picked up later but with a small child we were up and out early. Would return and cant fault the actual cottage
Lovely place, nicely refurbished. Option to buy more logs on site rather than having to go back out for a 10 minute drive would have been handy.. Would recommend and book again.
4th Time staying at the Hideaway. Stunning property, great hottub and log burner in a quite village but with all you need and very friendly locals. Hope to see you again soon.
Roxanne
The reason for rating of not recommending this place, is purely based on the fact they tried to charge us an extra 45 because we didn't hoover the property and bleach the bath when we left. We got photos sent to us, of a fly squatter not in the cupboard, the ironing board left out, and a hoola hoop on the floor. Absolute ludicrous esp when we had been so laid back about the bath leaking through through the roof. If you are prepared to deep clean the property upon leaving, then I'd highly recommend as its a cosy cottage in a lovely village, hottub is brilliant and you are only half an hours drive to Scarborough. We had a lovely stay with our children until we got a phonecall and email with the above information in it. We personally won't be back due to this reason only
Had everything we needed here. Ample space for 4 people and the comfiest beds ever. Hot tub was superb and the nearby pub, the Coachman did us proud on New Year's eve.
Absolutely lovely place bed was super comfy! ! Hot tub was a really nice touch too! Will definitely be coming back!! Thanks again!
We stayed at this amazing cottage at the beginning of December. It was very clean, warm it was snowing and frosty outside and had everything we wanted. The hot tub was fantastic especially as it was situated in a private garden next to an old stone wall that had a snow on it. We put candles in the snow and had a very romantic and beautiful setting in a warm and clean hot tub. The Peacock, a local pub just short stroll away, was very friendly with a lovely landlady and another warm fire and a good choice of drinks too. The places we visited and the relaxing stay really made our long weekend a fantastic break that we all enjoyed. We are hoping to return and highly recommend to everyone.
Tracey
Perfect little cottage and beautiful surroundings. Ideal base for discovering the area from Maldon to York or Scarborough. The cottage was impeccable and had everything you would need. I would suggest bringing the essentials bread milk coffee etc as the nearest shop was 79 miles away. This didn't really impact out stay as we were out most of the time. Great places to eat in the surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend this cottage for couples. Ps the log fire is an added bonus in colder weather we however didn't use it as the cottage was warm enough.
Lovely little cottage. Very warm & cosy and the log burner was a lovely addition. Beds very comfortable and the cottage was very clean. Short walk to the local pub The Coachman. Prices very reasonable. Hot tub was great and warmed ready for use on upon arrival. Overall a lovely cottage to chill out for a weekend. Thank you
This property is excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. Hotub was fantastic. We would highly recommend this to anyone. The bed was a super king and was so comfy. Everything about the Hideaway was lovely and clean and very cosy. We met Paula and Martin who were lovely and they said if there was anything we needed to let them know . Thank you Paula and Martin for a wonderful stay at your property.
We had a lovely stay the cottage is beautiful, cosy and in a lovely village location close to forest, moors and the beach at Scarborough. Hot tub is as wonderful and a real treat. Rooms more spacious than expected. Hosts very kind and helpful.
Beautiful cottage immaculate well kept. Modern , great wood burner makes the overall experience much more cosier expecially in October and the winter months!
The cottage was lovely very clean and had everything you needed was very central ... The cottage was lovely very clean and had everything you needed was very central to Scarborough Whitby Bridlington and Filey I would definitely go back the only downside was that the hot tub was not under cover so when it rained you go could not go in it
Lovely cosy cottage, very clean and comfy. However I was disappointed to find that such good quality pillows had no protectors on them. Showering was also an issue, I tried using both shower heads but encountered the same problem with having to clear up a pool of water from floor. Whilst the bathroom is lovely it was not very serviceable due to the issue.
Nicholas
We enjoyed our stay and base for the week. The hot tub was great even in the rain! Local pub the Peacock was very welcoming and Coachman served great food. Only drawbacks were extremely noisy and very busy main road outside the property, leaking bathroom window when it rains, leaking shower that drips over the floor making a puddle of water, and very tight parking space if you have a large car.
Lovely little cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Hot tub was a bonus.
Eleanor
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hideaway. The facilities were just right and the hot tub was perfect. A great location, not too far from the coast but in a quiet, peaceful and verdant village. The master bed is huge and very comfortable. The only criticism is that the mattress in the second bedroom wasnt as comfortable but overall a great place to stay and we would highly recommend.
Stuart
No allocated parking and directly on a very busy main road. Interior was clean but the bathroom needs altering. The bath is mounted on a tiled plinth and as its a roll top version, so it is very high of the floor making getting in and for a shower or bath out very difficult. There are no handles or anything to hold onto when getting in or out in a confined space. I would even class it as quite dangerous for anyone with mobility issues.
Vickie
A beautiful cottage the pictures do not do it justice, clean and very comfortable we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again and recommend.
Second stay at The Hideway. Stunning property with amazing hot tub, in a great little village close to everything we need.
The cottage was lovely, well equipped and comfortable and the hot tub was amazing. The owners were very helpful and we had a fantastic break. The only slight negatives and they were slight and did not deter from our enjoyment were the road noise and the lack of a local shop.
Daniel
Nice property with good facilities in a lovely area.
