Perfectly placed to explore both coastline and countryside, discover secluded beaches, hidden coves and acres of woodland before returning to elegant comfort and style for a relaxing evening of al fresco dining and warming your toes in front of the toasty wood burner.

Sage walls and cream fittings complemented by warm wooden floors and bi folding doors create a light and airy open plan living space. Cook a delicious meal and gather around the table to chat over the day's activities as you dine, the doors open so you are never far from the fresh air and the sounds of the woodland wildlife.

As the evening sets in, snuggle on the sofa in front of the wood burner for a movie night. Wake refreshed in the beautiful bedrooms, both with exposed beams, and take a morning stroll before enjoying an al fresco breakfast on the patio.

Fire up a BBQ in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine as the kids and pups enjoy running off the last of that sea air energy in the enclosed lawned garden. There is also a newly fitted wood fired hot tub.

Make the most of the private estate and take a stroll on the grounds to discover panoramic views of South Wales, Lundy and Dartmoor. In Challacombe village (1 mile) you will find a shop/post office and pub, just remember your torch if walking back at night as it gets pretty dark on your return.

Visit the famous sands of Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde, all within 20 miles, and enjoy family days out at Exmoor Zoo (3 miles) and Watermouth Castle (11 miles). Cottage was clean and cosy, well equipped and excellent water pressure, shower was excellent. Lovely cottage in a great location for visiting Exmoor. We did some great walks around the area. The local pub (The Black Venus) is very popular so need to book ahead, excellent food. The cottage has everything you need and good storage space too. Its nice to have a bath after a long walk and the shower was excellent too. We would recommend.

Wonderful setting, especially if you have a dog. Nice to be able to walk from the house and to the local shop and pub. Garden was lovely. House was also mainly great.

Nice comfortable cottage. Spotless on arrival with a fresh cake on the table. Log fire perfect for those chilly evenings. The setting was lovely and peaceful and our little boy loved the garden and being able to see the cows from the banks.

This is a gorgeous place to stay on Exmoor, off the beaten track and beautifully equipped. Absolutely peaceful and yet close to many of the walks such as Dunkery Beacon, Lynmouth and Valley of the Rocks, Porlock Weir, Coombe Martin with Little and Great Hangmen climbs. A wonderful location. Excellent for dogs. The location is perfect for walks both on the moor and the coast. For us it ticked all the boxes!!!

Really lovely, clean and welcoming cottage. Comfortable and well equipped with the benefit of being 'off the beaten track'. Close to a lovely local shop and pub and only a short drive away from dog-friendly beaches. Fantastic enclosed garden for little ones and dogs to run around in safety. We will return at some point.

Lovely cottage,, spotless and very well equipped all round. Wood burner had all wood supplied which kept us warm and cosy during Storm Eunice! Beds comfy and good shower.

Exmoor Zoo is described as a "family zoo" on their website and it certainly makes a great day out for families.  There are many exotic and rare animals as well as birds to see which are living in natural surroundings.  Some recent improvements at the zoo include a new 5 metre tower at the cheetahs and raised walkways at the "beast".  There is also a new viewing platform over the sitatunga.  As well as the amazing animals to experience there are regular fun activities such as face painting, daily events and zoo trails.

Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park  is a big hit with families and has a wonderful setting within 26 acres of Sub Tropical grounds. During a stroll around the site you will encounter so of the worlds most endangered animals and also take a peek back to prehistoric times when Dinosaurs roamed the earth.
