The Shippon Reviews

A beautiful hidden gem in the black hills. Super comfortable and cosy, warm and inviting hosts, really was the most perfect break. Very well equipped kitchen and facilities which made the week so easy to adapt and feel at home.
Heather
The owners Sara and Ozgur are great hosts, always have time for you. The Shippon is just as pictures show, we had a very relaxing break, so comfortable it is like a big hug, especially the bed. The view, the peace, log burner and of course the hot tub were all wonderful and all because of the care and attention to details by Sara and Ozgur. The welcome gift of milk, cake and eggs were much appreciated. We had great walks near by, and close was the local pub with good food and also plenty of places of interest not far in the car. Over all perfect! Many thanks Heather and Dave.
Wonderful setting very well done with exceptional hosts.
Judith
The property was just as described. The furniture and fittings are of high quality and the kitchen is very well equipped. We were warmly welcomed by the owners and given a tour of the property with a lot of useful information provided. The Shippon is a bright sunny property and was very warm and comfortable. It is set in beautiful countryside and is very peaceful. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Shippon. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the lovely owners, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. After a long drive, we appreciated a nice cuppa with the gifts of fresh milk and delicious homemade cakes, such a thoughtful touch! As were the eggs from the resident chickens, which we enjoyed for breakfast. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with everything you could possibly need provided. The kitchen was superbly wellequipped with modern appliances, including a coffee machine, dishwasher, and even a washerdryer. They even thought of little details like plastic glasses and fizz flutes for enjoying drinks in the hot tub! Speaking of the hot tub, the views from there were breathtaking, and stargazing each evening was magical. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we had some of the best nights' sleep during our stay. While we didnt use the log burner, all the supplies were there, ready to go if we had wanted a cozy fire. All in all, The Shippon was the perfect getaway. Its an ideal base for explring Devon. We honestly didnt want to leave! We cant recommend it enough. Thank you to the wonderful owners for creating such a special place!
The Shippon lived up to expectations and more. A beautiful, interesting property in a glorious setting!

Fantastic oasis of peace and comfort
Simple words can't really describe it. Set in the most beautiful landscape, the property oozes relaxation. A gorgeous building with history. Makes you smile every time you enter. The hot tub is just the icing on the cake. No where in the world can you take in the views while enjoying the warm bubbles. Will most definitely be returning.

Had an absolutely marvellous stay at the Shippon. Set in some beautiful countryside the views and peacefulness was outstanding. The hosts were superb and they greeted and showed us all the ins and outs on arrival. Among other things, we were even left some home made cake which was a lovely touch. The Shippon was immaculately clean and tidy and suited our needs perfectly, the hot tub too was a lovely bonus. We would highly recommend this place as a definite go to destination.
The Shippon is a lovely property and it is obvious that much love and care has gone in to creating a stunning holiday home. It is spacious and beautifully furnished. The outside eating area is a joy to use as the views across the fields are wonderful. A perfect place to sit and chill out. We came away at the end of our week feeling very relaxed. Thank you Sara and Ozgur.

We had the most perfect week staying here. Stargazing from the hot tub and then inside to sit in front of the log burner. So peaceful and relaxing. Sara & Ozgur are the perfect hosts making us so welcome and the lovely extra touches of homemade cake on arrival, farm fresh milk & eggs & a constant supply of logs for the fire when we needed them. It was so sad having to leave but we will definitely be back in the summer to see the wildlife and the blooms. Matt & Saund

Thank you Ozgur for topping up the logs for the wood burner.nothing like a real fire Your hot tub was by far the best bit for us, star gazing on the cold nights, wrapped in the warm waterWe could not ask for anything better. Thank you.
Amazing stay, Sara & zgr were the best hosts so accommodating couldn't recommend higher!
This was our second visit to The Shippon my wife and I first stayed in the property in July this year. The property is gorgeous, immaculately maintained, and set against the backdrop of the beautiful Blackdown Hills. Sara and Ozgur are the perfect hosts on hand when you need them but allow you the space to relax and get away from it all. We were welcomed by a few essentials in the fridge and a very tasty Dorset Apple Cake. We can't wait to visit again!

Andrea
Sara & Ozgur are perfect hosts, they have made The Shippon a perfect place to stay. We were welcomed and shown round by Sara who had also left us some delicious scones, jam, cream and milk and eggs from a local farm. The cottage is immaculately decorated and has everything you need to make your stay perfect. The superking sized bed is so comfortable and there is a lovely view of the countryside from the bedroom window. The hot tub was the perfect place to end the day relaxing while star gazing due to no light pollution. Blackdown escapes is so peaceful and great place for a relaxing break, however the seaside is only approx 25 minutes away via car with plenty more villages and attractions not too far away within Devon, Somerset and Dorset. We will be recommending Blackdown escapes to all our family & friends.

The Shippon is amazing! ! There is nothing Sara & Ozgur havent thought about! We was welcomed with a cream tea which was beautiful & fresh milk and eggs from daisys farm. The kitchen has everything you need and you also have a bbq so we cooked everyday and had lunch out! The hot tub is a added luxury and although the weather wasnt great for us we still took full of advantage of the hot tub in rain or shine, the views are beautiful and it is just so peaceful! Sara & ozgur are always there if you need them! I wanted to add something about the bed because oh my you will not want to get out of it!! We slept with the blind open slightly so that in the morning we had the view of the country side and every morning it was more beautiful to wake up to! The cottage is so cosy and relaxing you will not want to leave! We are already looking to book again! The area is ideal, you are close to so many beaches and the beautiful Jurassic coast. Cant wait until next time!!

We had a fabulous week's stay at the Shippon despite the wet, changeable weather. The property is superb, very tastefully furnished, with every mod con to hand. The setting couldn't be more beautiful or tranquil. This is without doubt the best Sykes property we've ever stayed in. Sara and Oscar were wonderful, attentive hosts and even left us a clotted cream tea and a few essentials on arrival. Thank you! We look forward to booking another stay at the property.
Wow! Only want to say wonderful cottage, with phenomenal views. Friendly and helpful hosts who go above and beyond to help and to make your stay as amazing as possible. We will certainly be booking again.

The accommodation was first class and was equipped with everything you needed along with the hot tub and amazing views it all added up to the most relaxing holiday in beautiful countryside but near enough to the coast so best of both worlds complete with friendly hosts on hand if needed
We have just returned from a 5 night break at the Shippon and we already wished we were back there. Beautiful cottage in glorious country side. The cottage is ideal for a relaxing holiday with the hot tub overlooking the fields. Lots of thoughtful touches as well as everyday essentials. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends.
Michael
What a fantastic place! The owners, Sara & Ozgur were very welcoming and have clearly gone to a lot of time and effort to make this a real home from home. It is decorated and furnished to a high standard with a very comfortable super king size bed. Outside you can relax in the hot tub, have a glass of bubbly or two and take in the wonderful views. If you are lucky you may even catch sight of the local deer, peasants, bats and hares. The nearby pub is a 1520 minutes walk away where the staff are friendly and the beerfood very good. There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area with the coast and National Trust walks all within a short drive away. If you want a place to chill and relax then we would highly recommend The Shippon. We look forward to returning.
