Elm Lodge Reviews

Amanda
Cottage lodge was very nice and it was a treat to have the hot tub at the end of the day. . we found it very comfortable. Bedroom TV has a habit of losing signal, but not in lounge. In the kitchen a new glass chopping board wouldn't go amiss these are the most hygienic. A fitted sheet on the bed because the under protector very loose the top sheet which didn't fully tuck under, kept coming untucked. But these are little things it was lovely and attractions fairly close at hand although paper shop is fair distance not a stroll on a Sunday morning.

Fantastic comfortable lodge, well presented, clean, good attention to detail. The lodge was in a nice secluded spot, with trees, squirrels. There were other lodges around, but we never heard or saw anyone else even though the other lodges were occupied. We had 2 kids and they were happy with the hot tub and the WiFi, and the smart TV's in every room. There were clear instructions throughout left by the owners. The hot tubs were inspected twice daily to monitor the water quality and temperature, which is always a good sign that they're taking it seriously. The lodge was well equipped, comfy furnishings, and good quality mattresses very important. Located near Watchet which is nice little harbour town. Close by to Minehead and the rest of Somerset. Good location to go either east of west. Great holiday, great lodge, good location, thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best lodges we have stayed in.
Great stay at Elm lodge, perfect location for quiet beaches. Hot tub was excellent and kept so clean.
A lovely lodge in a great location straight off the A39 which we liked rather than having to travel along country lanes to get to your accommodation. Lots to do locally Minehead, Dunster & Watchet being the closest all within 15 minutes. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, the beds comfy, and the hot tub was great checked daily. The kitchen was very well equipped and good wifi. We had a great holiday and wouldnt hesitate to recommend to others.
We have just arrived home after staying at Elm Lodge for a week. The lodge is a lovely size, big open plan kitchen, living and dining area. The kitchen very well equipped and the whole lodge very comfortable and spotlessly clean and no expense spared with the quality of the furniture. The garden is very private and enclosed with a hot tub and garden furniture under cover. The hot tub was ready for us as soon as we arrived, it was also serviced everyday. The only reason I have given it 4 stars and not 5 is because to walk into the village was a little further than we thought and along a main road for mot part, so it is a reflection on its location and not the lodge. I can definitely recommend the lodge. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We feel in love with Elm lodge, it was the perfect holiday home. Beautiful to look at, clean and well maintained and came with everything you need for a week away. The hot tub was the icing on the cake !! Sitting there in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down whilst listening to nature was just so perfect and relaxing. I would 100 recommend Elm lodge to anyone wanting to visit Somerset.

Had a wonderful stay at Elm lodge in the middle of July, the cottage itself is in perfect condition, very new, and all spotlessly clean. It has been fitted out with a Very large smart TV with excellent WiFi , so kids can watch Netflix, You Tube etc. also has a large Fridge & cooker. The lodge is in a very quiet location other than the noise of wildlife from Tropiquaria a must visit which supplied us with wonderful Gibbon whooping noises and peacock calls . The hot tub was great, well managed & clean, it was a bit hot for us so we asked to turn the temperature down a bit. It also benefits being undercover so even a bit of rain didnt stop the fun. The whole park gave the impression of being expertly run, with the emphasis on keeping things clean and tidy & quiet, which was much appreciated.
The lodge is 2nd to none, absolutely brilliant I'm sure we will be back, the location, cleanliness and facilities are awesome, there are homely touches not always found in other lodges. The owners have very clearly aimed for luxury furnishing and have succeeded. This has resulted in my 'ONLY' complaint. The mattress in the double room which is memory foam needs addressing as there is a considerable mount in the middle. Please do not let this put you off booking however as the effort put into these lodges and cottages are quite remarkable, the enclosed back garden and hot tub with the great view is wonderful, thanks for a fantastic base for a fantastic holiday.

We had a relaxing stay everything we needed thank you
An amazing lodge will definitely be returning
Elm Lodge was presented lovely, nice and clean with mostly all that we would need for our visit, with the lodge being easy to find with the instructions given. We did find it a bit overkill that so many items had 'Shells Cottages' written on them, and the list of inventory items on each door, with another one in the information packet felt a little bit overkill. We did feel that the information pack focused far more on safety then local information, perhaps this could be adapted into a Safety Folder and Local Information? Like know where the closest small supermarkets are, recommendations for local pubs and attractions would not go amiss if you are not familiar with the are and looking for things to do. These are just some small comments that we feel would improve what is already a lovely place with great opportunity to be perfect!
Elm Lodge is the perfect location to switch off and recharge, the hot tub is an added bonus.
What a fantastic place top class We enjoyed our weeks break would recommend ... What a fantastic place top class We enjoyed our weeks break would recommend this to anyone and we are definitely going back
Elm Lodge was just perfect for us, the owner has got everything spot on that makes for a very comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable and the shower was good. We loved having the hot tub and a good size private garden. We hope to return again.
Elm lodge was brilliant. Everything catered for and spotlessly clean. Lloyd saw us arrive and opened up for us. We asked how the lodges came to be. He built them! Amazing. You could not help but be impressed. He was interesting and very helpful. Especially using hotub as never used one before! What fun and thoroughly enjoyable. For us personally wish had taken 2 swimsuits. Once was never enough!!! Wanted to go in again! Very quiet maybe the odd gibbon noise from the zoo but don't you think that creates a memory. Certainly not offputting did not detract from a lovely lovely stay. In fact nothing would ever put us off. Location central so easy to find everywhere. Hope to go again. Sad to go
The property was amazing in a perfect location, only criticism is that it was very impersonal with no contact from the host. Also information regarding the use of the hot tub was very unclear and contradictory. However would definitely visit again. We all loved the Lodge. Thank you
Agnieszka
Our family had an amazing week at the lodge. The lodge was sparkling clean on arrival and the kitchen was very well equipped. We absolutely loved the open fire in the evening and a welcoming hot tub. The view from the lodge is amazing and we could also enjoy our breakfast outside. There are a few perks like a close proximity of a small zoo you can visit, lovely cider farm and also a very short drive to Minehead and Dunster Castle. We would recommend staying at that lodge and will definitely come back one day.

Well presented property with very good furnishing standards as described. Owner extremely prompt to resolve any issue. Unfortunately the listing fails to mention or show in any available photograph, that the property is located at a short distance from a roundabout and a busy and noisy main road, and that faces tall radio masts with red lights on at night that spoil the view and the sky. Bedding and quilt quality also needs improving to match costs.
Beautiful lodge on small quiet and relaxing site. Desperately needed a break after a very stressful time. Staying in this scenic part of the country in this well presented and comfortable accommodation certainly was the best medicine. The hot tub was also a special daily treat, easing aches and pains after all our walking, and a lovely relaxing end to the day. We slept so well very comfortable bed. The lodge is so well equipped. The owner Lloyd, is very approachable and obviously passionate about the lodges he designed and built himself. Well done and a huge thank you to Lloyd, Lynn and the team at Shells, and also to Sykes for introducing them to us. We would like to say that wed always recommend this lodge, but selfishly would like to keep it our special secret!

A really lovely relaxing week in a beautiful holiday home.
Beautiful lodge with hot tub and nice grounds. Because of its elevated position it was almost like being in a tree house! Lodge was well furnished and well equipped with everything you might need. Place was spotless when we arrived and you could tell it had been thoroughly cleaned and made safe under the current rules. Lloyd the owner was very helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. Looking to book again for next year.
Lovely comfortable lodge and plenty of room to move around. We loved the hot tub and the views from the hot tub were over lovely farmers fields. The kitchen had all the main essentials and their was plenty of glasses for alcohol and soft drinks. Elm lodge appeared to us to be the best Lodge at the shellsholidaycottages site. One small problem, the bathroom could do with a shaver point as I could not recharge my shaver. Would love to come back at some time in the near future.

This is lovely little settlement of a few cottages , very accessible and close to Watchett port which is a sweet little place . The furnishings are very good quality , the garden is private and the setting of Elm overlooking fields is stunning . The jacuzzi , sun beds and lovely garden furniture are just what we wanted , very comfortable and we would definitely book again . The log fire was lovely to put on In the evening too .
Lovely lodge equipped with all home comforts. Hot tub was a great way to relax after some lovely walks
The cottage was perfect location for exploring the surrounding area. The lodge was well equipped with everything at a very high standard, it had plenty of room inside and out, and the hot tub was enjoyable. It was very clean and we didn't have any COVID related worries. Highly recommended and we will hopefully visit again very soon.
Accommodation and area was spot on. Cant wait to return
Not really very satisfied thats why we keep booking.

We have loved our stay in Elm logde, with everything you needed it was like home from home, hot tub was a lovely way to relax on a evening, lovely, even though their is main road near by it was still quit, lodge was clean, comfortable we enjoyed every minute i would definitely recommend staying here. We visited lots of places Dunster Castle with beautiful Gardens, Just down the road you have Watchet fossils harbour beach, with a ice shop.Tropical wildlife park you hear some of the animals but not unpleasant still quite Valley of Rocks at Lynton. These are all lovely places to go & vist with the added bonus of coming back to relaxing in the hot tub or just in relax in the lodge garden with everything you need just perfect
Seamus
Great property. As described and clean. Good communication with the owner. All made for a good break.

This is our second stay at the Lodges and we cant fault it. We were staying here when the atrocious storms hit the area on Sunday and Monday night. We had no electricity the entire Sunday evening. We contacted the owner who came down with a lamp and some water , as the water is worked off an electric pump. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
Stacey
It was a lovley stay. Lots of space and beatiful surronding. The hot tub was fab. We would highly reccomend. Thanks again .

We stayed at Elm Lodge and had a very enjoyable 4 days. On entering the cottage, it was warm and had a lovely smell of woody, spalike tones. The place was absolutely spotless and clean. The beds were a tad on the soft side for us but nevertheless very comfortable and we slept very well. The decor is absolutely lovely and you could see alot of thought had been into kitting out the cottage to make it feel homely. The sofas are very comfortable and the layout of the coffee tables was very functional. We felt completely at ease and relaxed. The bathroom was a wet room with toilet and basin and a large towel rail. The shower had two heads, a soaker and a normal shower head and the whole shower experience was great. Hot water, good pressure. The kitchen is good with plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery, pots and pans and ovenware. It has a dishwasher too and dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, jaycloth and tea towels were all provided as well as some milk left in the fridge and tea and coffee for our arrival. There are DVD's, a large TV, books and game console. Wood, firelighters and kindling all provided for the wood burner. We didn't use it as the heating worked so well we didn't need it. The hot tub was fantastic, it is situated in the garden secluded from other cottages. It looks out onto the fields. The only shame about the view was the two large radio antennas situated in the next field. They are quite far away but I could imagine how perfect the landscape would be if they weren't in view. Simply put, we would definitely return and would definitely recommend to others.
Elm Lodge is a lovely peaceful retreat. Did not realise that it was virtually brand new! The hot tub on the decking was the icing on the cake. We had taken all cleaning products with us as well as tea towels, bin liners etc but everything was provided. It was a gorgeous, relaxing break and we didnt want to leave!! Thank you xx
Very clean, well appointed, very friendly and helpful site team We've been to Shells Cottages before and will go again.
Graham
The property was very new and clean, we were very pleased with it and would go there again
