2 Pheasant Lane Reviews

Annette
The property was absolutely lovely and met all of our expectations and needs. The minor issues we encountered with the heating and hot tub were resolved quickly by Kieron. We had a fantastic stay at 2 Pheasant Lane.
Dianne
Great area, super base to go exploring. the jacuzzi was added bonus and used everyday.
Jeffrey
The property was perfect for our family holiday. Hot tub sauna and all the other facilities were great. Kieron was very helpful with everything. The countryside and surroundings are wonderful. Peace and quiet all round.
Little things like All remotes batteries needed replacing Not many pegs on line
An absolute gem of a location and very good quality accommodation. The whole family enjoyed everything about this cottage, taking advantage of the facilities, the walks and the short trip to the town centre. Can strongly recommend Ye Old Mustard Pot for meals too . Thank You!
Was an amazing week beuiful cottage in a great location had everything we needed but was just feeling alittle tired now could do with alittle more maintenance and a few upgrades to make it top of my list hot tubs had better days controls are getting past there best work when they want to. But was beuiful and would visit again as the area was amazing
Leeanne
This property is in a stunning location, kitchen well equipped with lots of space for bigger groups. Sauna and hot tub made our stay just perfect for that relaxing break away. Met two of the maintenance team, Kieron and the other I didnt catch his name but both very nice guys. Gave us lots of information on the area and recommend a few places to visit. Blue Ball just a few minutes taxi ride does some great food. Thanks for a great stay!
Nicole
This is an absolutely fantastic place to visit. We loved our week here but somethings were a little bit of a struggle if you have any back or hip problems. The sofa is extremely soft and low. And the chairs are also low and soft with no support. The mattresses felt like you would fall out of bed as they peaked in the middle. The views in the hot tub are amazing. And the sauna was so refreshing on the morning. Felt like you were in another world. The owner and manager came to visit us at our request and they were great to deal with. The shepherds hut is amazing on the property. The garden was enclosed so my chihuahua had free space in the garden. The roads are very country narrow and bendy so you need to consider this if youre a nervous driver. We found a farm house on next hill along about 2 minute from the house in a car that did fresh hen, duck and goose eggs. There is also Fox Valley shopping centre with Iceland and Aldi and home bargains, boots and Costa and an few other shops about a 10 minute drive away so we were able to shop often for the week with fresh goods. The views are outstanding and the walks around the reservoirs are stunning. Sitting in the hot tub you can see the horses and rabbits running across the fields or look at the view the opposite way which is trees and hear the birds singing. The garden was set up brilliant with plenty of seating. The local pub The Castle Inn is all up hill to get there and on a narrow bendy road so walking we felt was a bit treacherous for that. So may need to assign a designated driver or organise a taxi. Overall I absolutely would recommend 2 Pheasant Lane. The only thing we didnt enjoy was sofa and mattresses in the main house. Other than that we loved being here.
Lovely stay really comfortable and warm underfloor heating is amazing and log ... Lovely stay really comfortable and warm underfloor heating is amazing and log burner was also nice,Wehad a great Christmas at the property
We had a lovely week, loved the hot tub and sauna. Its a brilliant place for dogs. Our dogs loved going on long walks all around the area. We absolutely loved the under floor heating, we were never cold even though the temperatures were in the minuss. Will definitely be booking again
Elizabeth
A perfect house for three generations. The situation was great. The caretaker was really helpful and when we had any problems they were fixed in record timevery impressive. I would recommend this house to anyone.
Stephanie
We are a family of 2 adults with 3 grown up daughters plus partners plus a dog. We had an amazing time, lovely house and shepherd's huts in beautiful surroundings, there were some lovely walks and local pub all up hill, so bring your best walking shoes! If you are a nature lover and like the peace and quiet this is the perfect place. Hot tub and sauna were great and we all enjoyed relaxing. Weather is strange, you can have all seasons in a day! So take clothes for all eventualities. Last but no means least, host was amazing, nothing to much trouble and very helpful, on day of leaving a family member had an issue with his car the host went above and beyond, thank you once again! we would definitely reccomend this place, a well deserved 5 stars for both property and host, can't fault it!
Beautiful cottage, stunning location for walks
Our family spent a week here. The property description is far from accurate and needs reviewing. The BBQ and Pizza Oven have not been cleaned in a long time and therefore we chose not to use them. The property description indicates a high standard of finish all round and to be fair, it may have been in years gone by, but not now. The sofa arrangement is worn out and the soft furnishings all need attention. The white kitchen units have been repainted grey which is now peeling off. We left a list of issues for the caretaker to fix i.e. kettle did not boil properly in the main bungalow, iron did not work, hot tub filter needs cleaning and overuse of chemicals meant the tub was unusable for several hours during our stay. We suspect the water also needs changing. Grass was not cut, weeds all over the place and brambles not brilliant for our grandchildren and dog playing outside. Fortunately the weather was great and we were able to make use of the local countryside which is beautiful.
A lovely spacious holiday home. Had a great stay in particular was good there was a lot of space to store food, the jacuzzi was used all the time, and the beds INCREDIBLY comfortanle. A few things just to improve we were told someone would come to attend to the hottub this didn't happen and by the end of the week the water was quite low we couldn't really work out how much to turn the dial of the oven, perhaps a small guide would help as all the markings faded or use a permanent marker. We just tried the first or second notch. Thats it. Thank you.
Very clean, a great welcome and a comfortable place. Lovely touches of moulton brown accessories. The experience is lowered by a few things that are very dated and worn. Given the place sleeps 8 the number of glasses was limited and unmatching for just 4 of us. Nice welcome pack fo biscuits, tea and coffee but no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets, etc. Things like microwave which is so worn you cant read any of the dials. Small details given how good the rest of the place and the details offered elsewhere.

Another great break with family and friends at Pheasants Lane. Great facilities, comfortable and everything you need. A beautiful place to relax and unwind. Thank you for the box of goodies on arrival. Our second year running here and are booking for next year again.
We were looking for a relaxing, peaceful stay for a group of friends and this is exactly what we got. The property is spacious, with great open plan social space inside and out. The beds are comfortable, bedrooms have good storage space. And it was lovely to wake up hearing the birds every morning in a beautiful location. Perhaps not the pheasants at 6am, but what else can you expect on Pheasant Lane?! The kitchen has everything you could want to make this feel like a home from home. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna and the property is in a great location for running or walking routes. The welcome pack and tour from Keiran on our arrival was very kind. A great find, we cant wait to go back again. We received the wrong contact point details for the property to arrange key collection from Sykes Cottages in an email. Thankfully, the person we contacted in advance of our stay, who had left the role, was very understanding and put us in touch with Keiran the new contact. We noticed the old contact details name and number are still in the property information pack in the house but not on the online version Kieran sent us and Kierans name, but the the wrong phone number for key collection details were on the Sykes Cottages online account, just wanted to mention so this can be updated so others dont have the same experience.
Great place to stay. very quiet and lovely scenery. Nice little welcome basket upon arrival. Kieron was very helpful showing us how to work the hot tub, heating etc. Only 5mins in the car to the local shops if needed and plenty of takeaways to choose from if you wanted. Not far from local pub. Plenty of nice walks to choose from. Had everything we needed for a weekend stay. Plenty of towels for hot tub and shower. All in all we all had a lovely stay and will definitely be looking to book again in the future. Thanks
Fantastic week here! The house was just what we wanted and the housekeepers could not have been more helpful and welcoming! Thank you!!
A very nice holiday property in a lovely quiet location.
A great holiday cottage. There were 8 of us and a dog the living area easily large enough and nice and bright. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. The beds were extremely comfortable. The hot tub was great and was very well used. And probably best of all was Kieran who was very helpful, going beyond what we would expect to help us out. Overall we had a fantastic time and would happily fully recommend it, we fully intend to return.
Thank you for a lovely stay. Its a beautiful property in a beautiful location and I enjoyed celebrating my 40th birthday with friends. The only slight negative I would say is the hot tub. The house sleeps 8 people and there were 7 of us but the hot tub only accommodates 4 people at a time, where we are used to all going in together rather than having to take turns. Thank you for the hamper as well, thst was a lovely gesture.
6 of us had a lovely weekend here. Very comfortable accommodation, hot tub and sauna were wonderful. Perfect location for relaxing and walking, you do need transport to get out to local villagestowns but plenty of shopscafes once there. We visited the Old Horns Inn for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. Highly recommend a visit to Cannon Hall too, beautiful grounds, free museum, farm shop and garden centre.
Claire
We had a lovely stay, cottage was clean and furnished lovely. The garden area was particularly lovely and safe for a dog and a toddler. Would definitely stay again.
Despite a few issues we had which were dealt with by management swiftly we had a great week. lovely open plan living with a great welcome pack all the amenities needed, the beds in the main building were super comfy. A brand new hot tub arrived on the day we left too so if your booked up your in for a treat. If your planning on a walk to the pub be warned its 10 mins uphill! If your looking for a quiet retreat i definately recommend it.
This property was perfect for a family gathering. The open plan living space was very sociable with very comfortable and homely furnishings. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need to self cater. The outdoor space and facilities were excellent. We made good use of the Hot Tub and the sauna which were perfect after a long walk. The location is great for local walks around the two reservoirs or for easy access to the peaks. All of the above made for a great family holiday.
Hilary
Awesome week celebrating a family birthday. Accomodation was comfortable and excellent for a party of 8. We loved the welcome pack, made good use of the barbecue, pizza oven, sauna and hot tub. The caretaker was friendly and helpful. Thanks.
Beautiful property, perfectly situated, great layout. Only downside, really old microwave, unable to set accurate time, no turn table, so food heated unevenly, and often too much. Old oven worn out markings like the microwave, unable to work out settings resulting in at least 2 burnt meals and great difficulty in timing how long food would take to cook on the different turns of the dial. Real shame, let the property down. Pizza oven lit well, not suitable to put pizza in without some sort of tray nothing provided but we did take our own pizza stone anticipating this, so enjoyed a lovely smokey pizza. Hot tub had bubble problems but sorted quickly by Lyndsey, and due for service in next few weeks so should be sorted. Could do with an awning that can be pulled across and retracted depending on guests desire especially given the price and location opportunity to use when raining or shade from sun the adjacent sauna was perfect, good temperature and economic use of timer excellent. We really enjoyed our break and with 3 generations of family together this layout really worked.
Rosemarie
A great property and facilities for our annual family meetup. Spacious inside and outside. Plenty of parking. Fantastic views. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Plenty of towels for both bathing and saunahot tub. Pheasants and ducks seen daily close to the property. Dog enjoyed his walks around the reservoir close bye. Very hilly area but lovely walks. A very well stocked Aldi store not far away by car. We used all of the facilities including the pizza oven which we had never used before. Had one minor problem which Lyndsay, the lovely, friendly and helpful caretaker sorted swiftly. I found the settee and armchairs a little low but otherwise highly recommend the property.
Excellent property and manager! The facilities are brilliant. Considering we were there through 3 major storms, very high winds, an electricity cut, flooding, snow, hail and minus temperatures we still had a great family stay with ages 6 months to a partially disabled 70! The hot tub and sauna were in use daily, with separate towels provided, as was the log fire. The pizza oven was a hit. The area is superb for walking both from the cottage and to drive to, site seeing, eating out and shopping. Everything was there we needed and the manager Lindsay was always available for queries or problems. During the electricity cut she updated us as she knew and told us where to go where it was on for food etc. She came over with a separate heater for the shepherds hut when one of them was running well and organised people to come in. The place was spotless and had everything! Beds are comfortable. I genuinely cannot think of any negatives. There were 5 adults, 2 teenagers, a baby and 3 dogs. Sykes were excellent sorting with the owner an extra dog gained in a last minute emergency. Also the whole booking process was made easy through Sykes.
Stephen
Very well equipped property and perfect for our family stay. we will likely return. A makeshift child's bed could be a good addition as currently more tailored to adults for sleeping arrangements.
Lorraine
This property was amazing had the best time for a friends b. Day... host left a hamper and bottle off prosecco nice touch..hot tub and sauna amazing...didn't use Barby or pizza oven maybe next time. Beautiful place to go walking and nice little pubs too. Can't wait to go bk x
We had an amazing stay, the welcome hamper was a lovely surprise. The facilities were great, the hot tub and sauna were well used!! We had a wonderful relaxing week as a family, doing some of the beautiful walks in the area. We intend to return in the summer we enjoyed it so much. Thank you.
Lovely property, accurate and comprehensive explanation of workings of the property and the walks in the area
Louise
The info claimed the cottage was 10mins walk from a shop and pub. Never found that shop and the walk to the local pub is up a super steep hill much more than a 10min walk. Also I tried to contact Sykes on Sunday day 3 of our holiday to realise there is no email I can use to explain a problem at the cottage. We booked the cottage for the 10min walk to shop and pub AND the sauna and hot tub. I have already explained about the first part and then and Day 3 the sauna was not working when we got the caretaker to help she came but there was nothing they could do so we did not have use of this feature for 5 days of our 7 day break! Something we have paid for. Please can you work with the owner to pay back some of the money we have paid for this holiday. Louise Day
The place was absolutely lovely, so much room and in a nice location. Hot tub was lively extra, as well as the pizza oven and bbq. The only downside was the pillows were not comfy and the heating didn't work
