Toll Bar Cottage Reviews

Shazia
Amazing house and neighbourhood! We were greeted with a warm, cozy house upon arrival with some lovely treats, waiting on the table. Outside, there's a beautiful old bridge with a gushing river passing through it and its just to the side of the property. On the opposite side, a pathway leads towards the river bank itself, where you can see ducks, trout and catch glimpses of Heron! My girls loved feeding them all!! Coop is just around the corner and eateries shops literally at your doorstop. Its centrally based and an easy walking and driving distance to places like Chatsworth, Bakewell and Matlock. The house is very cosy, immaculately clean and beds very comfortable, the hot tub is an extra bonus. The kitchen is well equipped and the conservatory is perfect for a morning cuppa! The owner came over to help with lighting a log fire and was very courteous, kind and accessible at all times. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Toll cottage and would love to come back again.
We stayed for a week and our holiday wasnt long enough. We had very good contact with the owner. The cottage was even better than we expected. It had some lovely features that made it feel very homely. The location was perfect and we could drive, walk, bike and even use the bus to get to all the lovely places around Baslow. I would definitely recommend Toll Bar Cottage.

An absolutely ideal location for exploring Chatsworth and the Peak District. We were a party of 6 x friends who loved the quirkiness of Toll Bar Cottage, and its views over the river and of the bridge. The cottage is beautifully decorated, the hot tub and added luxury which we enjoyed and anything you could possibly need is in your doorstep. Paul & Shanda are very helpful and friendly we loved it

The property was as described and very clean. A charming situation overlooking the river. The Coop across the road was very well stocked and there are quite a few places to eat in Baslow without the need to travel further afield. A delightful place to stay even when its raining!
Beautiful cottage in a lovely location, bus stop outside the property was brilliant and on time, loved the open top tour bus. The cottage has everything you need and chocolates and fiz was a treat x The beds were so comfortable I wanted to take mine home lol. Thanks again to the owners x

What a fabulous place the house was spacious, clean, well laid out, comfortable and with the bonus of the hot tub which was well serviced and a joy to sink into at the end of the day. Location was also fabulous access to local shops and places to eat, along with loads of many places to visit plus super walks all within easy reach. Hosts were very attentive and truly cared about ensuring we had the best time thank you would highly recommend
This is a great property and has to be experienced to fully appreciate it. There are so many little places to sit and enjoy the surroundings but the bifold doors into the living room really helped bring the outside in. Such a calm and beautiful view into the back garden too. The beds were huge and really comfy, a TV in every room kept our kids happy when they weren't out exploring the Peaks. The kitchen is very well equipped which is handy when there's a Coop right next door for last minute eating ideas.
We had a lovely time at Toll Bar Cottage. Clean, bright & spacious. Set in a lovely position by the river, shops & restaurants all within walking distance. We made use of the hot tub & conservatory overlooking the river. Paul & Shada kept in touch with us & sent us information & history of the surrounding area which was very interesting. We would definitely stay there again.
A lovely stay . The cottage was clean and well decorated. Really loved the garden room, lovely and warm and a great place to read the morning papers or just sit and relax. A little tricky to get out of the drive as the house is right on the main road so you had to be careful reversing out it was easier than reversing in but we managed. A very well located property near restaurants, a Coop right next door and within walking distance of Chatsworth House so and ideal property for exploring this lovely area.
Cottage was beautiful, very nicely decorated and comfortable. Hot tub was great! Perfect location in the village with bus stop and pub in walking distance. Only downside was the lack of a hairdryer, but after messaging the owners they dropped one round.

A lovely cottage. A hidden gem. It was a special anniversary and the owners recommended where to have a special meal and were on hand if needed. The bedrooms are fantastic. We will be returning.

Our stay at the Toll Bar cottage was excellent. Really nice house, extremely comfortable and what a location! Hot tub being the icing on the cake. Would highly recommend as a base for touring the Peak District
Debbie
The property is in a great location, close to shops, restaurants, pubs and walking routes. We mainly booked the cottage for the location and the use of the hot tub which was obviously welcome after walking. It is in a nice spot with the garden looking over the river. The garden room looks to be a new addition and was a lovely place to sit, although there were only two chairs so more chairs would be an advantage as the property is for six people. Also the main bathroom did not have a mirror. The bedrooms were lovely with good bedding and furniture. I would recommend this cottage although there are a few low beams and low doors to be aware of so a couple of us that were over 6 foot had to make sure we decked our heads!
We had a lovely stay in the cottage. It began with an excellent welcome pack and a visit from Paul and Shada to show us how the fire and hot tub worked. The beds were very comfortable and the fire and hot tub were a luxury to return to after a walk. The cottage is perfectly situated with walks from the door around the Chatsworth estate. Paul and Shada were easily contactable both before and after the stay offering advice on days out and places to eat. Overall an ideal place for three generations to meet up and have a well needed break.
A little girly minibreak. One of the loveliest cottages we have ever stayed in. Absolute perfection. The owners Shada and Paul have thought of everything anyone could wish for fizz and chocolates on arrival were such a thoughtful touch. Twinkly fairy lights everywhere, fabulous hot tub and kitchen facilities. Charlies Bistro literally across the road was an added bonus. HIGHLY recommend! Thank you both so much.

We booked a girls weekend away in the peaks and chose Tollbar cottage , it absolutely exceeded our expectations and was such a lovely stay. The hot tub was such a nice feature and was easy to use. The house was very clean and comfortable and the hosts even left us a bottle of Prosecco which was so sweet. We will definitely be coming back!

A lovely place to spend a cosy family Christmas. The cottage was very easy to locate and settle into. Very convenient village location with the local coop and pub on the doorstep. It was lovely being able to access the grounds of Chatsworth on foot. The house itself it well set up. Handy ground floor bedroom for elder family and comfortable bedrooms for us and the kids upstairs. Kitchen is well equipped full Christmas dinner was possible and space for sitting room, conservatory and dining room was perfect for our group. We did not get the benefit of the garden and jacuzzi, it was December after all, but loved seeing the river and ducks from the windows at the back of the cottage.
Elizabeth
Fantastic property. Beautifully renovated cottage and completely spotless. Great to have off road parking and yet be right in the middle of Baslow. Cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Will definitely recommend and have already rebooked for 2024 to visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Super stay! Many thanks...
