Hunters Lodge at Wildersley Farm Reviews

Shelbi
I have already spoken with the owner on the specific feedback I had and this was very gratefully recieved. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay, despite having to sadly cut it short due to personal reasons. I really appreciated the text a few days prior to arrival to let me know I had a contact if needed although it wasn't. Beds extremely comfortable, garden areas lovely and would be great for summer, hot tub was great to relax too. Has all of the amenities needed in the kitchen and bathrooms, a really well decorated property that has evidently had quite a lot of money spent on renovating it! Thank you.
Caroline
We had a lovely stay at hunters lodge Belper, great facilities, nice kitchen for socialising, lots of plates cutlery glasses and cookware. Plenty of room and storage in bedrooms, and lovely decor throughout. Hot tub was lovely but clearly hadn't been drained, cleaned and refilled as stated, as there was sand in the bottom of the tub, and grime around the rim after first and only use! Owner did offer to drain and refill for us, but would have been out of action for 24 hours if they did this, and as we were only there for 1 more night, so didn't seem worth it for us! Only things we would recommend to change is the beds, only being doubles they were quite small! And the heating came on and off, which seemed to be via a timer, and there weren't any instructions specifically to control this, so heating instructions would be useful. Also the parking wasn't great, allocated spaces would be good, as the houses are right next to each other and guests turning up at different times were just leaving cars all over the gravel drive blocking others in! We forgot to mention this during our weekend! Owner was helpful and responded to any queries quickly, just a shame we were only there for a few days otherwise we could have had issues fixed. We would highly recommend the Devonshire pub in Belper, food was amazingly delicious, with a wide variety to suit all preferences. Local walk routes right on the farm as well which was handy for some fresh air. Gardencourtyard was lovely so we could enjoy the nice weather we did have! Overall we had a lovely time at Hunters Lodge to celebrate by 50th with friends.
Myself and 5 friends came for the weekend and stayed here, weve already said how much wed love to come back! It was so spacious and decorated beautifully. The walks around the lodge were great and got us out for the full day and the hot tub was an added bonus!
Beautiful Property, we loved our stay!
We have just come home after a weeks stay at the lodge. What a lovely lodge it is, very modern, plenty of space and perfect for our small group with dogs. The hot tub was a great bonus, and we got plenty of use out of it! Would love to stay here again The only point I would make is that my Audi A6 did not do well on the long track road. I know some maintenance has been done to the road, but this was still an issue. All in all though a great break for us!
Christopher
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We adored our stay at Hunters Lodge. Fab location as youre in the countryside but not too far from anything. Nice walks that you can go out straight from the house. Its the perfect layout for toddlers too, stair gate, highchair & travel cot all set up before we arrived. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
We had a marvellous week at the Lodge, from the well equipped kitchen, the comfort of the beds and relaxing lounge, dining room. The outside area was well thought out with outdoor seating for relaxing, a hot tub and a dining area. We were lucky with the weather it was warm and sunny, so we were able to take advantage of the many walks directly outside the Lodge, or relax in the outside area and listen to the birds, no traffic noises to disturb you. The owners left a book with useful info as well as being pleasant and helpful. We have no complaints only compliments for a fabulous week at Hunters Lodge. Sue and family
Absolutely beautiful cottage in a lovely location. The private road that leads to the cottage needs some serious maintenance, though other reviews had mentioned not to attempt in low cars, we struggled in our two estates due to the size and amount of potholes. Tesco delivery van fortunately did make it down! However, once you make it down it is really worth it. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. It was plenty big enough for us 5 adults, though could maybe benefit from an extra chair or two in the living room. The hot tub was really nice and maintained on a daily basis. Lots of attention to detail in the whole cottage plus some lovely extras like welcome pack, robes and extra towels for the hot tub were really appreciated. Surrounded by many footpaths, we were able to go on lots of walks straight from the door. Garden was well enclosed and safe for our dog, but please note it is all flagged and stones if you have a precious dog like ours who needs grass to toilet you will have to take them off the property. We all had a lovely stay in this stunning property and are sure to book again.

Hunter lodge was a lovely and relaxing place to stay. We loved being out in the countryside with great walks on the doorstep highly recommend the 4pub walk suggested in the guest info. Just a note to anyone staying, the long track is narrow and bumpy, we were fine as we had a large 4x4 but low base cars might struggle. Our only suggestion to the owners would be, for a property with such spacious bedrooms to replace the double beds with king or super kings. Aside from the beds the property is spacious with a great kitchen island to make food and chat we loved this space. Thank you to the owners for being able to accommodate us early arrival as we had a long drive. All the best.
Great for a family the open plan makes it a great social space . Hot tub lovely and kept maintained . Beds comfy and good having an enclosed garden .
Claire
Several teething problems for the new owner which we are sympathetic to but did affect our holiday experience as we had to liaise and have maintenance visits most days. WiFi not available for majority of stay which was addressed by the last day of our 5 night stay. Leaky radiator required plumber to visit and address, not all pans worked with induction hob which again required support from the help line. The owners were very responsive and apologetic but we cant have our time back and wasnt as nice an experience as anticipated.
We had a fantastic stay at Hunters Lodge and would happily recomend. The cottage is lovely and the open plan layout is very social. Everything is pristine, the kitchen is well stocked with glassware, crockery and cookware. Hot tub is well kept and fits 6 people. Owners are friendly and very helpful. Only word of warning is track up to the cottage is quite long and bumpy, and wouldn't suite a car with low clearance.
Sandra
Fantastic property everything you need plus Hot tub really enjoy ourselves also washing machine dishwasher. We had problem with TV signal but soon sorted out .I did see on feedback about lane leading up to property we had no problem really just a little bit muddy and few bumps the dogs love the walk .
Mrs Wood
Stayed over Christmas 2023. Beautiful location and cottage is lovely. Daughters loved the hot tub which was maintained daily.
Mrs Wilson
Loved our stay at Hunters Cottage, the cottage is stunning. I would definitely recommend it, however, the track to get to it is quite long and bumpy and if you're not able to walk in the rain then it's quite relentless in the car! Also, all three bedrooms seemed like they could have fitted King beds in but they all had doubles, which was surprising. Non of these things made much difference to our break, just wanted to give the feedback.
Mrs Mclaren
Hunters Lodge is absolutely amazing and ideal for families and couples. The enclosed garden is ideal for children and dogs with the added bonus of a hot tub. The deco and facilities within Hunters Lodge is extremely high standard and couldnt fault a thing. We will definitely be back!!
Mrs Dodd
Absolutely fantastic stay, accommodation was immaculate and had lovely personal touches making you feel homely as you arrive. Kitchen had everything you need from utensils to oven trays. Best nights sleep I've had here, lovely private grounds and hot tub was well looked after and just added more luxury to our stay. Loved the gowns and slippers which were left to use, made you feel like in a spa. Would 100 come back.
Miss Walker
Situated in a beautiful area. Extremely comfortable and well equipped. Just needs a clothes rail in the upstairs bedroom.
