This delightful holiday property set in a quiet location within the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, a short distance from Burford. The property is presented to a very high standard with seven bedrooms, three with ensuite shower rooms, a further two with ensuite toilet and basin and one family bathroom available making it absolutely prefect for large group gatherings - be they friends or family. Internally the property retains many period features along with countless contemporary touches to give this a real high quality, minimalist feel. An element that particularly appealed to us was the large ground floor which has the feeling of being 'open plan' but actually has separate 'rooms' and thus creates a sense of being together without all the noise that this can sometimes bring!

An element that particularly appealed to us was the large ground floor which has the feeling of being 'open plan' but actually has separate 'rooms' and thus creates a sense of being together without all the noise that this can sometimes bring!

Similarly appealing are the large gardens to the rear of the property, which the owners have thoughtfully added a hot tub, skittles and table tennis which are just as much fun for friends (adults) as they are families with children! A great choice.

There is a maximum of 14 guests allowed at this property. Infants not included in this number and there are two cots avalable.

Malt Barn Reviews

Christine
As a family of 13, ages 9 to 73, plus 2 dogs, we all enjoyed our few days at Malt Barn. The house was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. The hot tub was a great success as were all the outdoor games. The only issue we had was with the oven shelves not fitting securely. This almost caused a nasty accident when removing hot dishes. If this was fixed Malt Barn would be given 10 stars!!
An exceptional property. Very clean and extremely well equipped. The bedrooms are very adaptable so will suit all groups and families. Very pleased with our stay & hope to rebook
We have just come back from a fabulous Hen weekend at Malt Barn. We were greeted by the lovely Dot, who showed us around the property and went through all the information we needed. The property itself was amazing. Plenty of room for our group of 13 and it was spotless. The house and kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. The annex was literally a step away from the main house so we still felt part of the group. The grounds were very well kept making it a pleasure to sit outside in the lovely weather we were so lucky! Once again the hot tub was spotlessly clean, with its showers and toilets making it so much more convenient to use. I would highly recommend this property. We didn't want to come home!
Michael
Spotlessly clean and easy to use. The only problem being the oven which for fourteen of us to use was small and the shelves slipped out of their runner. Having said that we managed okay. I would like to see a few coat hooks in the annex as there was nowhere to hang jackets, especially if they were wet. We had a lovely time and these small things did not spoil that.
Graham
Very good property everything as advertised only super minor thing was trays in oven dont fit well
Samantha
We absolutely loved this house. There was plenty of room for the whole family. Well equipped kitchen and a cosy house even when cold outside. The Annex was very close to the house which we were nicely surprised by as it didnt seem that way in the photos. The garden was absolutely lovely and plenty of room for the dog to run around, we loved sitting in the courtyard in the sun too. The hot tubroom was great, and we enjoyed playing table tennis under cover outside. Plenty of car parking space and set back from the road. Lovely area for sightseeing. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Crocodile World are very close which we would highly recommend. The host was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you
Christopher
Excellent holiday home for a large group of well behaved adults and teenagers. Very well presented and great location for touring the Cotswolds. Seven lovely bedrooms with plenty of space to spread out. Lovely gardens and the separate very warm and insulated outbuilding hosts the large hot tub and shower and toilet block. A fine place to host a major celebration. We stayed 19 to 22 January 2024.
A lovely place to stay with comfortable bedrooms, and spacious living areas that allowed our group to have space to themselves as well as share dinners and hang out together. The facilities were great. The hot tub being in its own building with toilet and showers was great, plus being able to open the trifold doors on a lovely sunny day to enjoy the garden from the hot tub was fantastic. The location offers the best of rural idyll with supermarkets being a short drive or walk away. It was peaceful and any planes in the area were unobtrusive. Highly recommend for both summer and winter.

Lovely house and very well equipped. A small milk carton in fridge on arrival would be a nice gesture as you provide tea and coffee.
Great property, ideal for large family groups, lots of space and outdoor activities for the children. Very clean and well cared for inside Only issue, needed a new outdoor parasol as the one there was damaged and not very clear. Would help to put up a warning that the floor in the hot tub area gets slippery when wet
Nicola
Lovely Barn Extremely clean, kitchen short of nothing, plenty of space to eat, sit and relax. Everyone loved the hot tub and great to have a toilet and shower handy. The grandchildren loved the garden, enjoyed playing table tennis and all the other games provided. Plenty of places to visit within easy reach, a great place to stay with all the family.

This was a great place to stay, for our Silver Wedding celebrations! The rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of communal space. The kitchen was really well equipped, which was great as we provided the place and the family did all the catering. Could do with an electric whisk our fourteen year old grand daughter had planned a massive Pavlova! She succeeded, with a rotation of whiskers. We had a lovely weekend, which will remain in all our memories.
Lovely location, great house, fitted in our large family comfortably, very clean. Dot was really helpful and responsive leading up to our stay. Kitchen very well equipped. Hot tub great addition. Only small issues wifi not great throughout the house and couldnt seem to control the house temperature it was too warm! Better than the other way round though! deposit refunded quickly, no problem. Many thanks for a lovely stay, would recommend the house.
Lovely property with great facilities. Dot was very welcoming and accommodating.
House was great
We had a fantastic stay at Malt Barn over Christmas. Beautiful property, exceptionally clean and Dot the housekeeper was amazing. Would definitely recommend Malt Barn!
Hi, we had a great time! The only comment in terms of comfort was the heating, it was uncomfortably hot, and opening the window in Dec meant a freezing draft, seemed unbelievable not to have it running generally lower. Other than that, perfect thanks
Superb house and very well presented, idea for our party. The housekeeper was very helpful, we did have a couple of questions while there and she responded very quickly so felt very well looked after.
The Malt Barn was perfect for our family 60th birthday celebration! The kitchen allowed the family chefs to prepare meals that we gathered to eat together in the dining room. The grandkids had great fun exploring, and we all made the best of the mild November weather to play in the garden! A the whole family took turns relaxing in the beautiful hot tub which was perfect for our one year old and our 60 year olds! It was clean and well equipped and absolutely ideal for us,
Caroline
Comfortable property with good outdoor space. Well equipped although we couldn't find a lemon squeezer minor point as a lot of kit in kitchen. A floor plan on the listing would help to understand the layout better beforehand. Beds were so comfy the children want them at home, but bedlinen seemed dated. Style of locks on doors potentially tricky with toddlers. Loved the table tennis and hot tub.
William
Yet another fantastic holiday at Malt Barn, our second visit. We had so much fun together as a 3 generation family. As always the cottage was superb, very clean, the kitchen was well stocked with crockery, pans etc more than, enough for a large family. Very spacious grounds. The hot tub, table tennis and the other games were well used and appreciated particularly by our younger members who were quite competitive! A warm welcome from Dot as always. Her helpful and friendly manner and willingness to be on hand if needed was excellent. As a suggestion to allow downtime treat for games to be connected, or a different channel for other members of the family, there could be more TVs as there is only one in the lounge. The Fairhurst, Coupar and Aalders family.
The property itself is 5, it was spotlessly clean, all outside space was excellent including hot tub. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, which was great for all the family to cook. However, the thing that let it down was the furnishings, which I would consider 3. No blinds in the upstair bedroom skylights so awake as soon as it got light, no bar stools which meant only 6 people could be seated in kitchen, only 1 decent tv in property youd expect TVs in each of the bedrooms, very old coffee machinetoasterkettle etc. The decoration, ie beddingpillows were basic multibuy. We felt for the price to stay, these things could have been more upmarket. Overall we really enjoyed stay but the lack of blinds in the bedroom was a particular issue unless you like being awake at the crack of dawn.
Alison
We had a great family holiday. The Hot Tub was a great success especially with the 3 young children in the party. They also enjoyed the access to the outdoor games, and as the weather was reasonable, they offered great opportunities for fun. The barn was warm and comfortable. The rooflight windows did cause some issues for those who find sleep in the light difficult, but a solution was found which caused no damage. Party members using the Annex bedroom felt more hooks for hanging clothes would be helpful. We would also have appreciated hooks in the Hot Tub building to hang towelsjackets. Dot, the friendly housekeeper, was very helpful, and available for any problems.
The hot tub wasnt working when we arrived. Using Google we found the manual and sorted it. Also could do with blinds in the bedrooms.
We had a great holiday at the Malt Barn. The place was very clean and the facilities excellent. Danielle was very helpful when we had an issue with the washing machine and even took some clothes to another property to be washed for us. The only issue we had was the lack of skylight blinds in the upstairs bedrooms which meant most of us did not get the amount of sleep we would have liked. If these could be added in the future this property would be perfect.
Edward
Had a lovely holiday. House was clean and beds were comfy. A few things that spoiled the overall experience The checkin and checkout time kept changing throughout our booking and stay so more communication is needed between the housekeepers and Sykes. There are NO blinds on any of the skylights in the upstairs bedrooms, some of which are directly above the beds. Housekeepers response was,it is what it is. We had to use bin bags and towels to block out the light! Housekeeper came round and treated the hot tub at the exact moment we were getting in and told us we couldnt then use it for 2 hours. Not ideal! Constant beeping noise was coming from the utility room. Rung housekeeper and was informed I needed to fix the problem myself. Again, not ideal!
Patrice
The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped for people who plan to cook. We discovered the amazing park just across the main road which has a wonderful adventure playground and great paths for joggers. The nearby Masons Arms was a friendly local pub and in warmer months the outdoor space would definitely be very nice to use.
Melissa
Lovely place for all family to stay. Great facilities. While this barn do allow dogs to stay be weary of the additional charge and what it covers. Our dog did get some mud on the bed sheets which we were charged to replace to the tune of 80 rather than a dry clean. We'd paid an additional 20 per dog to stay and this wasn't considered when deducting the cost of replacing the sheets. We like to take our dogs with us on holiday and this is somewhere we wouldn't come back to on the basis of above experience.
Malt Barn was a bit tricky to find from the directions we were sent. The oven was so complicated to use you needed to work at NASA! But these were very minor issues as the accommodation was superb and better equiped than our own homes. Right down to a cupcake stand which we needed for my birthday cupcakes! We were all very impresed. The hot tub building was out of action which we weren't advised about but the hot tube was still usable so that was fine. Pub the Mason's Arms down the road was very good value for Sunday lunch.
Mrs Gander
Lovely house, very modern and spacious and great with the hot tub. Dot who met us with the keys was lovely and showed us in detail how everything worked. Great location near to the wellknown Cotswolds Villages. I would definitely recommend the house and your website to friends
Miss C

Mr Wrout

Ms Porteous
Beautiful property, great location, great help prior to arrival from cottage owner
Mrs Atkins
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was really well equipped and we were very clear on how the owner wanted us to look after it. We were lucky to have amazing weather which really helped.
Mr Everett
Beautiful setting, wonderfully equipped kitchen, Dot was very knowledgeable about the area, gardens great for kids, nice extra touches e. G. Garden games.
Mrs Guiney
Norton Barn was the perfect venue for our family attending our sons wedding at Caswell House. We were also very impressed by the care and attention taken to prepare the property by Dot, the housekeeper, especially as she had a quick turn around of 2 parties of 16!
