Blue Jay Retreat Reviews

Marie
A large, airy and well equipped holiday lodge with an amazing hot tub. Peaceful location in easy driving distance of various places of interest. Comfortable beds and all en-suite bathrooms.
Barbara
We have been going to this lodge for several years we love it and will be back again next year
Richard
A lovely setting and building for a wind-down after a hectic summer. Beds very comfortable and the house warm. The modern appearance of the rooms was appreciated as was the hot tub which my daughter's foster child liked. Although there is room for 8 (we only had 5 + baby) there was plenty of room and we didn't feel claustrophobic in the house. SadlRead morey, the weather was not conducive to us trying the BBQ. Hide
Edward
Really good spacious accommodation for our family group; children really enjoyed the on-site play equipment and hot tub. Definitely 5 star potential, but let down slightly during our stay by some maintenance and cleanliness issues. Good local shop in nearby Kinnerley.
Eric
The facilities and overall comfort provided by the accommodation is first rate, we also found the quite settling allowed us to relax completely.
Glesni
A spacious, well equipped cottage in a great location. The kids enjoyed the play area and tennis court. The hot tub was great. If taking kids I would suggest taking your own cutlery (the ones at the property are quite big). Not as clean as expected for a 5 star property at this price range. Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed exploring the surRead morerounding area. Hide

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the house. The location is beautiful, the house is spacious and ideal for a large group. We particularly enjoyed using the patio in the fine weather as well as the hot tub. We were all very comfortable at the house and it was perfect for the two young children (both aged under 2 years). We would certainly be haRead moreppy to return. Hide

Great little find, highly recommend. Really clean, fully equipped, 4 bathrooms, great sized bedrooms and a lovely open plan kitchen/diner. The outside area was beautiful, lovely furniture, plenty of it and a huge hottub.
Lynn

Siamak

We loved our stay at Blue Jay lodge. It was the perfect place for a pre-Christmas family get together and was really child friendly for our nine month old grandson. It was warm and welcoming and the Christmas Tree was a lovely surprise! The hot tub was amazing and spotlessly clean. There was nothing that we didn't enjoy about our stay there. This was a lovely stay and a very nice holiday the grounds were well maintained and we had some really nice food at the local cross keys pub. Also highly recommend a visit to the Iorn works.
Steph
An ideal location for Shropshire, north Wales and Snowdonia. Peaceful and spacious, with a luxurious hot tub and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for our group of seven. A few maintenance issues could be addressed but overall an ideal holiday setting for a larger group.
Rochelle
Really beautiful and lovely. Perfect for what we wanted. Everything was in the cottage that we needed and warm and clean. Will definitely recommend or even go back again. Not one issue all weekend and it was the perfect break for the 8 of us
Alison
Accommodation is great and the facility has everything you need for a UK break. The hot tub was excellent and the barbecue great for rustling up a meat feast. Parking and security was great onsite and the grounds were well looked after. The only improvement we would recommend is the standard of cleanliness. We felt that a good spring clean was need ed as areas were dusty and build up of dirt could be seen in areas. Floors needed a good mopping and toilets in depth cleaned in our opinion.
Teresa
What a lovely retreat, beautifully kept, a very tranquil environment, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perfect location to go into Shrewsbury or Oswestry among other locations. We would recommend this place wholeheartedly.
Lois
I cannot recommend this cottage enough! We had the best weekend celebrating my boyfriends 30th here, it is such an amazing lodge located in such a beautiful place, and there is so much to do near by! Perfect for all ages! Will definitely book again! It has everything you could want & the hot tube is huge! We really appreciated all the little person al touches too, the owners really went the extra mile! Honesty one of the best weekends I've ever had! I cannot thank Mr & Mrs Sheppard enough!
Barbara
Everything was fabulous all I can say some sort of cover over the hot tub in the winter would be great. We have been twice now and would definitely be going back again
Eve
Excellent. Clean and fantastic standard.
Joanne
Amazing stay, facilities were great, washer dryer perfect to have. Hot tub lovely and huge. Grounds perfectly kept. And ourside furniture amazing. Only small thing we needed to hoover when we arrived grit in hallway and bits on front room floor but this only took a few minutes and the stay was great. Owners have really thought of everything and its like a home from home Can't wait to go back.
Sue
Fantastic lodge, perfect setting, very quiet and secluded. One of the nicest holiday accommodation we have stayed at. Lodge is very spacious, well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and bedrooms, utility room. Nice decor. Private hot tub a bonus. There are only four lodges, well spaced out on grounds. Good play area for children. Definitely recom mended. We would stay again.
Sonia

Cottage is in lovely location with Birmingham, Shrewsbury and North Wales (as a few) all easily accessible. Cottage was clean and well equipped. Was nice that each room had its own en suite. Tennis courts and children's play area within grounds. Would recommend.
Beverley
Lovely accommodation, lovely location, perfect place for completely relaxing
Gemma
I wish it was possible to give this holiday more than 5 stars as it was definitely up there with one of the best lodge stays weve had. Couldnt fault a single thing!! It had everything you could think of, tennis court with rackets and balls, hot tub, kitchen full of equipment, towels, cleaning products to wash your clothes, board games etc.
Ann-Marie
Lovely accommodation and location.
Robert
Had a fantastic 5 night stay over the Christmas period, cannot fault anything either with the lodge or the setting, 3 generations had a brilliant stay making full use of the facilities, hot tub, tennis/football Court, all you have to bring here is yourself, everything else is provided, will certainly be rebooking at some point.
Jo
We absolutely loved our stay and the lodge was fantastic. Spotlessly clean and the Christmas tree was a nice touch. Plenty of space so even with 6 adults and 3 children under 3 yrs (and their paraphernalia!) it didnt feel at all cramped. The furnishings are of a really high standard.
Steven
A wonderful site, well equipped, comfortable, clean & tidy. Well positioned for local pubs, and a visit to The Knockin Shop (yes - real name!!). We would(will) definitely there at some stage...
Anna
Fabulous place! Sparkly clean, spacious, luxurious and loved the hot tub. Thank you!
Heather
Absolutely stunning place to stay. It had everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. So clean and spacious. Hot tub is a bonus with great views over a peaceful location. Would definitely recommend to everyone and we will definitely be returning. Thanks for having us.
