Peel Place Noddle Reviews

Brenda
Extremely beautiful location, very very quiet and with no light pollution. Lovely walks all around. The house is lovely too with all the amenities you need for a holiday home. Hot tub is a wonderful addition. Just remember to bring your flipflops for when you get out! We were fortunate enough to have snow on the fells, which enhanced their rugged beauty. Miles is soo very kind and helpful. We are definitely coming again next year.
Nichola
Disappointed that the log burner in the snug wasnt working as the second living space with a fire was one of the main reasons we booked the stay. My son was very disappointed. The late check out was appreciated and Miles was very friendly
Philip
Ideal location and property for an active family holiday exploring both mountains and coast . Lovely grounds with superb views. Owner helpful and readily contactable. No recycling facilities and none in the village, ended up bring home.
Great cottage for a group of friends on a walking holiday. Facilities are all you need and not so upmarket that you worry about using anything. The south western corner of the lakes is easily accessible from here and there are loads of pubs around and the well stocked village shop is close by. Some reviews worry about the entrance drive but we had a large estate car and it was fine, just take some care, no problem.

There was lots of towels and hot water, the kids loved the trains. Weather not so good but it didnt matter a good family holiday
We had a lovely time. The property has everything you might need. It was comfortable and in a beautiful location. The owner, Miles, was extremely helpful giving us advice for walks. We had a perfect weekend away. Thankyou! Showers were good with good water pressure.
Excellent cottage for 3 generations. Beds very comfortable, well stocked . Railway fantastic, garden great for small children. We would certainly return.

Just home after a 3 night stay. . Lovely quirky property with plenty of room. Secluded garden with a hot tub. It is like living in someone's home so don't expect 5 star. Some areas do need a bit of tlc or repairs but that never put us off, nor would it make me give a negative review. The road up is quite challenging and awkward. We were in a Q5 and that is about the maximum sized vehicle you would get through to the drive. Also the crossing at the rail track would be no good if your car is low to the ground. It is very secluded, no phone reception at all suited me, but the WiFi is great kept kids happy and the views are amazing. Pub down the road was great, never went in to the village. Stanley Ghyll waterfall is well worth the walk. We will return, hopefully the weather is better next time.
Claire
Amazing cottage. Miles, did everything he could to make our stay perfect. He contacted me as it had snowed heavily and gave advise regarding what roads to avoid. Great place.
The property is fantastic! Loved how homely and welcoming it felt and the surrounding area is stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back again, I was amazed at the amount of logs and coal supplied for the fire, Its really rare to have that much, but just added to the convenience of the property, apologies but on the way home I remembered that we hadn't moved the green sofa back to the window bay, I hope you didn't mind us leaving you a few beers in the kitchen Thanks again for letting us stay in your wonderful home.
We had a great stay thank you. Lovely hot showers and comfy beds. Hot tub was brilliant! Perfect location, the children loved the steam train going by. Could do with a few new mugs etc in the kitchen but otherwise well equipped.

We had a lovely weekend at Peel Place celebrating 2 family birthdays. The house is very large yet cosy and warm with the central heating that seemed quite recently installed. We didnt light the living room fire as it wasnt needed. The beds were comfy and the duvet covers were good quality. Also loved all the fluffy white towels provided. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was great! Was a bit dark in the garden could probably do with a light round there. We liked that the house was quirky and full of character and the views from the property are amazing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Peel place noodle. It is a very remote location and so peaceful which may be a little too quiet for some but perfect for what we wanted. The heating seemed to be newly installed as i noted some comments previously had said it was very cold but we managed to keep it just right and the fire was perfect for getting cosy on the cold frosty nights. We were really impressed with the facilities especially for the cost. Very reasonable and cannot wait to return with other family
Lovely place, had a great time would return.
The cottage was the perfect base but it could do with some maintenance. A few windows wouldnt open and had cracked panes. The carpets are a little thin in places and have holes. The kitchen cupboard werent very clean and doors could do with replacing. The fridge should have been cleaned before we arrived. The hot tub was great and beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay but feel this things should be pointed out.
The holiday home is very well kept with everything you could need for a week away in the lakes. The owner is very accommodating even calling us when we arrived and running through the local amenities. The location is ideal with a number of good walks on the doorstop. Would recommend the cottage to anybody looking to stay in the Lake District
Lovely place in a lovely area. Great views from the windows and garden over the valley and hills beyond. Great trip on little steam train and nice walk back to pub near the cottage. Would recommend.
Lovely spacious property great for family getaway. Lovely views. Well kitted out. Hot tub was lovely, even in winter. Owner called ahead and helpful. Kids loved seeing the train at the end of the garden. Only thing good to be mindful of is that wider bigger vehicles won't be able to make it up the drive to the house and will have to walk from little station, as mentioned in info if I doubt park up at green station and go check it out before proceeding up the lane. Hubby thought he could do it and then on realisation we couldn't, turning around after train track without slipping into the wall was managed, but hairy! We didn't attempt it again! Not far at all to green car park, but ensure all your party good enough on their pins to manage. Linking arms would be tricky as is a track and can be slippy on the earth in the middle if muddy.
Bedroom over kitchen no heating. Great hot tub, nice and peaceful
Amanda
Although I appreciate the reason for an early checkout time, we all felt that 9am was too early to all use the bathroom, eat breakfast and clean up to the standard required. 10am is much more reasonable, especially given the property only has 2 x bathrooms for anything up to 9 guests. The location is amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our break. Thankyou
You couldn't ask or hope for a better experience. Miles the owner was helpful beyond measure, even going out of his way to purchase an extra casserole dish for us! The cottage was superb, in a stunning location, it was very spacious, the beds were comfy, it had character & soul. We really loved the artwork & pictures on the walls too. The location itself was fantastic. Lovely walks from the house itself, and the little steam train passing by was the icing on the cake for our 3 year old who thought it was magical! I honestly couldn't speak highly enough about every aspect of Peel Place Noddle. Thank you Miles!
Short break
Very quiet location with beautiful views. Small shop nearby and a lovely pub just around the corner. The house had everything we needed. The beds were really comfortable. We only used the hot tub once but it was a great addition. The owner(Miles) rang me the night before and the morning we traveled to let us know how the roads into the village were as they had been flooded due to the amount of rain over the previous days. A definite place to go to get away from it all with great walks nearby.

I stayed at Peel Place with some friends for my birthday and it was a great experience. The photos do not do the place justice, the cottage is beautiful inside and out. It was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations which was a nice touch. Its very spacious and we made full use of the open fire. Unfortunately Cumbria was hit badly by a storm on our first night so the power was out, so it whilst it was nice n warm in the lounge it was quite cold upstairs but that couldn't be helped. But it came back on the next night. Actually I enjoyed when the power was out, we stayed by the fire and played board games, truly an experience I won't forget. The hot tub was the cherry on top, we made full use of it when we could and it was lovely watching the stars. Overall this is a great place to stay if you love the countryside like me. There's lots to see and do, I recommend visiting Muncaster castle, it has some great views! We did a little pub crawl also, great pubs with great food and drinks. We had dinner at bower house inn which was lovely. The owner Miles was very helpful and made sure we were okay during our stay. I would definitely like to stay here again, had a great time!
We had a fantastic time celebrating my big birthday, The house has everything you could need for a perfect stay, even the fire had been built ready for us to light, the hot tub was a great extra and you can even watch the steam trains passing from it, would definitely love to return to this place, also visited the local shop and pub where all the staff and locals were very friendly and the food was great too.
Gorgeous cottage, much larger than it looks on photos. Amazing views, really in a lovely quiet location. Nearby pub was good too. Hot tub was fabulous and much used over the weekend.
Imogen
Perfect house for multi generation family holiday, loved the outdoor space and fantastic location. Good time has by all
Tracey
Lovely large holiday home. Ideal for families. Our family had a lovely relaxing stay 2 adults 2 x teenagers 1 x 5yr, 1 dog. There would have been plenty of room for the additional 5 guest covid allowing without the house feeling crowded. High lights included the hot tub and the open fire both of which were well used. The large garden offered space to play for the kids and dog alongside fabulous views.
The cottage was excellently equipped with everything needed during our stay. There are some lovely places to walk to locally or you can travel further afield. We also ate out in both the Bower and Boot Inn pub and can highly recommend the food. The Hot tub was a lovely addition and the views whilst in it are stunning. We were very lucky with the weather and had sun everyday which was an added bonus. We throughly enjoyed our stay at Peel Place Noddle and will return, thank you.
Brilliant. Favourite place to stay in the lakes yet.
Amanda
We loved this house, clean, spacious & well equipped it is in a great location in the Eskdale valley for walking and exploring the area. Good WiFi, smart TV, an open fire & a lovely hot tub. Off the road down a small lane so very peaceful. The steam railway runs in front of the house which is fun. The owner was easy to contact & very responsive. For example the Amazon Firestick had gone missing & he arranged for one to be delivered next day. Lovely pubs in the area, tried The Woolpack, Ratty Arms and The Bower House all good. The shop in Eskdale Green is well stocked.
Lorraine
Felt was overpriced, run down and needed a thorough clean.
Unfortunately due to the current situation our holiday was cut short. Miles the owner of the property was very apologetic but the situation was out of his control. The few days we did spend there was so relaxing and lovely. There is everything you could possibly need in the house and nothing was too much trouble for Miles before, during and after our holiday. We are definitely hoping to return as soon as possible.
Peel Place Noddle provided us the perfect location for a family getaway in a rainy March! ! The house is a great size with 2 large reception rooms, the kitchen is big with a lot of storage and a big dining table, this was great for family breakfasts. The living and dining room also had a dining table, which we used on Saturday night and easily fit 10 people around, although it was quite cosy. We used the fire both days of the weekend, there was just enough fire wood and kindling for this we didn't need to go into the extra stash in the utility room. For a longer booking it would be needed. The kitchen was stocked with alot of crockery and cutlery, I would advise to take your own cling film, foil etc as we forgot these. There was 1 towel per person, no extra for the hot tub or to use whilst the others are drying, however Miles did inform me of a dryer we could use. The hot tub was great, nice and warm and clean when we arrived!! We used it both days. Unfortunately the King George pub was closed whilst we were there, but the sign outside said it would be opening in Easter, so we used The Bower House Inn, which was about a mile away, we walked, it was lovely. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Small note, take your own toilet roll and soap, there was not enough even for 2 nights.
Corinne
The location and house were both lovely Hot tub not working one of the reasons ... The location and house were both lovely Hot tub not working one of the reasons we chose this location so rather disappointing
Thomas
Location is excellent. Beds and towels super clean. Property has character. Superb WiFi throughout, I could work from home here comfortably if I wanted. Netflix on TV for those rainy days. Central heating recently upgraded and gives a real kick! Could maybe upgrade pots and pans cutlery but that's being fussy
Hannah
Beautiful and cosy house with amazing views
Hannah
We had a lovely stay in the cottage with the entire family for my mums 50th Birthday. The cottage was well equipped everything needed to cook a big Sunday roast, the rooms were spacious and the garden and hot tub were private and well maintained.
The house was lovely and clean, with a great heating system. The added benefit of the coal fire was a bonus. The view from the house was excellent. Hot tub was well used by all. Mind you an overhead cover would be nice. The local pub King George lV food was superb and the size of the helpings was amazing. If I had any concerns it would be the width of the roads all around the area. Locals drive too fast and expect you to stop or reverse to a passing place. Plenty to see and do in the area.
A lovely relaxing comfortable home, set in beautiful surroundings

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 15 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 18 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 20 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 26 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 28 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
