Barn Hey Reviews

Emma
We had such a lovely time at this cosy cottage. The location is perfect for exploring the south lakesand the place feels really cared for, making it super homely. The welcome basket was a sweet touchand the wood-fired hot tub was a real highlight, especially on a chilly October day. We’d happily return and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Absolutely loved it!

We had a fantastic stay at this charming cottage in Allithwaite. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, perfect for our group of six, plus a baby and a dog. The beds were super comfyand the showers felt luxurious. We didn't get to try the hot tub because of the weather, but it’s definitely a bonus! The location is great - just a short walk to a lovely pub and to Cartmel. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. We’d happily come back!

We really enjoyed our time at Barn Hey! The place was spotless, comfyand beautifully decorated. The hot tub was a lovely surprise after a long day. It’s close to Grange over Sands and Cartmel, both worth exploring. The nearby pub served great food and had friendly staff. The welcome pack was a nice touch too. Thanks a lot!

The cottage was lovely and spotless, really spaciousand freshly done up. The beds were super comfyand we had a distant sea view from the front rooms. Perfect location for exploring local sights, just watch out for no pavements walking to the Pheasant Inn.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 7 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 18 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 24 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 25 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
