The White House Reviews

Really enjoyed our stay here and it was the perfect base to explore the local area the owners were really helpful and made our stay a pleasant one.
Rebecca
A lovely little cottage maintained and kept to a very high standard. The hot tub was perfect and secluded.
Claire
Great cottage, well appointed with attentive hosts.
Sharon
The White House was a lovely cosy cottage with all the home comforts, we needed for our stay. The hottub was excellent and enclosed which was lovely after our long walks. The owners left us a lovely welcome pack of wine and shortbread and they left dog treats which our dog enjoyed. We will definitely recommend this cottage to our friends and family. Great cottage and thank you very much.
Great location. Cottage was cosy with great hot tub. Would recommend Star Inn in North Dalton. Whitby and Cayton Bay definitely worth the drive.

The cottage had very thing we required and more nice bottle of wine on arrival very clean even tea coffee ect ,location ideal for visiting family and coast ,and hot tub was nice to relax in most evenings, and would recommend to family and friends, also the dogs were thought of in many ways. Once again thank Guy and Emma for a lovely stay. Best wishes Kev, Bev, Bailey, Elsa Cockapoos.
The cottage was lovely, comfortable and wellstocked and in a very picturesque and peaceful location. The owners were very approachable and friendly. We would definitely recommend this property.
Natalie
We had a wonderful time at The White House, using it as our base to explore the beautiful Yorkshire coastline. The added bonus of having the hot tub to relax in after a day of adventures was also fabulous. Would recommend this property to everyone as its cosy inviting feel is enough to make everyone relax and feel at home.
No washing machine in cottage or anywhere we could use one .
Claire
This cozy, bijou cottage was perfect for the two of us and our little dog. It was clean and comfortable, and the owner was on hand for any adviceinformation. It benefits from being in easy walking distance to a very dog friendly pub, where food is served Thursday to Sunday. Some lovely Market towns close by to explore and close enough to the sea for walks along the beach. The hot tub made for a relaxing end to the day. Thanks for your hospitality!
Angela
Cosy, warm little cottage, well thought out layout, great hottub, situated in a friendly village convenient for Beverly and visits to the coast. Enjoyed the welcome gifts as did our dog and the local walks. Village pubs friendly with good food. Bed very comfortable. No Internet on EE but it was good to get away from technology for a few days.
Cornelius
Thanks to Guy and Emma for a lovely break. Try The Robin Hood pub for a warm welcome and great Sunday lunch. Very dog friendly. Would highly recommend.
Last minute booking for 2 of us with our dog over Christmas. What a hidden gem this is. A cozy, warm cottage that had everything we needed nestled in a fantastic village. We arrived to find a welcoming home complete with Christmas tree, wine and mince pies. A very nice touch. We ventured to the local Robin Hood on the 1st night and were greeted with a warm welcome from both the ownersstaff and also all of the locals. We had great food too. On Christmas Eve we chilled and relaxed in the cottage and took a dog walk around the beautiful village before returning to the pub again where our well behaved dog was made most welcome, once again enjoying great food and a welcoming atmosphere from a great community of people. We enjoyed another 2 nights in Middleton and much of the same with a trip into Beverly inbetween. All in all, we had a fantastic break away and I look forward to returning again in the not too distant future. The owners have made a cracking job of their rental and I would highly recommend for anyone looking to kick back, relax but still have home comforts. We couldn't find fault. Thank you for our stay greatly appreciated.
Jackie
A beautiful little cottage loved it the hot tub made it even more special. We really enjoyed our stay and the welcome gifts were a lovely gesture thank you. We will definitely return. Thank you Doug and Jackie Sheffield

Natalie
I wanted a quiet little place to relax with my little boy for my birthday. This didn't disappoint arrived to find some little treats from the hosts which was lovely. It was central for the places I wanted to visit with him and also lovely to just stay and relax. The hot tub a massive bonus and very private. Guy and his family on hand to help when you need we occurred a problem with the stove which he fixed promptly. I would definitely recommend this cottage to my friends. Thanks you Guy, Emma.
Mr & mrs
Wow where can I start with this lovely cottage! We have had a lovely time and have really enjoyed our stay (gutted to be going home tomorrow). I cannot recommend this place enough, it?s set out lovely and the hot tub is an absolutely amazing bonus! We love the fact that the hot tub area is private and also locked off so that our pup could roam whilst we managed to relax and unwind, just what we have needed after not having a holiday or getaway for the last 3 years. Thank you so much for making the place so welcoming with the bottle of wine, biscuits and treats for our pup upon us entering the cottage, lovely added touch which we really appreciate. Will definitely recommend to family and friends and hopefully we will return in the future. Thank you Mike, Nat and Rio (the staffy pup)
A wonderful holiday home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially the little gifts. What a lovely thought. We cant wait to return
Absolutely amazing cottage, we had a lovely stay, of course the hot tub was amazing! ! There was some lovely little touches when we arrived such as a bottle of wine, biscuits and then treats for our pup. We hope to return in the future.
Lauren
Really lovely and welcoming stay. The bed was the most comfortable one Ive ever slept in! The welcome wine, biscuits and dog treats were a lovely touch. Thank you for having us!
Had a lovely stay at the White House, was comfy and very clean. Facilities also good. Would definitely recommend. The hot tub was an added bonus and was perfect to relax and chill in the evening. Many thanks
Fantastic location and facilities, only wish we had booked for longer.
Lovely spotlessly clean cosy cottage, everything you need for a well earned break, especially relaxing in the hot tub. Very friendly hosts always on hand if needed. lovely peaceful village and very friendly people. Will be visiting again soon.
Geraldine
We stayed here for a week. It is a lovely cosy cottage with everything you could need. Its very clean and very comfy. Just mind your head on one of the doorways. The hot tub is perfect and situated in a private area. There is a large parasol as well if its too sunny or raining. Guy is very friendly and approachable if you need anything. We would definitely recommend this lovely cottage and would love to stay again.
We had a great holiday just what we needed the hot tub was a real delight the ... We had a great holiday just what we needed the hot tub was a real delight the cottage was spot on will definitely return
Beautiful little village. Cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our 5 nights there. Extremely clean!! Very private! Hot tub was absolutely amazing so very clean and in your own private area fenced and walled with wall lights, fabulous to unwind after a long walk. Guy and Emma live behind you and are at hand if needed but leave you to get on and enjoy your stay. Really lovely couple!
The listing said something about the property all being on one level the first floor however, you need to know that there is step down into the livingkitchen area. This will not be a problem to most of you but if you are disabled it's something to think about. It is 'just one more step' to a 'normal' person, but being newly disabled myself, I found this step extremely difficult as you also need to duck to avoid the low door frame. Aswell as the step, the kitchen area is very small and not user friendly for anyone who can't easily turn and twist. I don't want the review to be completely negative, because the cottage is lovely, as is the hottub.
Tracey
Really relaxing. We will be back.
Louise
Great stay at The White House. Location was perfect pub and pizza shop literally a 5 minute walk from the cottage .Lots of dog walks nearby, but only a 10 to 20 minute drive to two local towns. Hot tub at the cottage was lovely and very private. Everything that was needed was provided for in the cottage and the wine and biscuits left from the owners was a welcome addition as were the dog treats. Would definitely return
Very comfortable and warm, owner never bothered us just let us know if we needed anything just ask
Bethany
We stayed over Christmas and had an amazing time. Cute cottage which had everything we needed, even managed to make our lovely Christmas dinner on Christmas day! The village is also lovely and peaceful. On arrival the owners left us a bottle of wine and a Christmas card which was a nice touch and made us feel welcome. One of the main reasons we stayed here was because the cottage was dog friendly for our lurcher, he also settled in really well! And of course the hot tub which was excellent, the area was private and we could relax. Would definitely stay again.
Richard
A lovely, charming cottage, the hot tub was worth the visit alone! Comfortable bed, bathroom very clean & tidy, kitchen & living facilities all as advertised, would not hesitate to stay again in the future.
Michael
Comfortable cottage good facilities, good place for visiting local places of interest. Local pub good for food, but, at the moment of from Wednesday to the weekend. The owners alowed us to slightly change our stay because of illness which was nice of them. The hot tub was very good to be able to wind down after a day out. The only problem is there is no viable internet but it is not advertised as having any so it wasn't a major problem, and they information provided tells you it is not readily accessed. Would recommend for others to visit.
Steven
Small property but perfectly formed
Lovely little cottage. Big hot tub. Easy booking process and easy check in and out. Quiet village. Great base to explore the area.
Rachel
Great location as a base to visit the coastline.
Couldn't recommend this place enough, after having to cancel plans for my partners 30th in June we decided to book this for belated celebrations and I'm so happy we did. The cottage was in a lovely little village with a pub within walking distance. We spent most of the days exploring the area and then the evenings were spent in the hot tub relaxing. My partner also proposed to me during our stay which made it extra special. We also visited the pub a few times for a drink and food which was delicious and really reasonably priced. The owner of the cottage was lovely, we called the day before to confirm when we would be arriving and were greeted with a bottle of wine and shortbread which was a really lovely touch. If you want a break where you can just switch off and explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside this is the perfect place.. we would definitely return!
Cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. Hosts were friendly but not intrusive and the wine and shortbread they left for us was a lovely touch. Cottage is in a lovely area and has it's own parking spot which was great, however the biggest bonus for us was the fantastic hot tub which was completely private and was so relaxing after days out.
