Elder Lake Reviews

Laura
Really loved the cosy pod, it’s perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hot tub was a highlight-so private and soothing. Being dog-friendly was great, although the open front meant we had to keep our pooch in the pod when using the hot tub. Still, we’d definitely return!
Alex
The location really is fantasticand the pod was well-equipped with extras. It was peaceful, making our stay super relaxing. We’d definitely come back, thanks a lot!
Emma Johnson
We really enjoyed our stay at Elder Lake Pod. The peaceful setting was just what we neededand having the hot tub enclosed was a bonus. The pub just a couple of minutes walk away served lovely foodand there’s plenty to explore nearby. A small gripe was the limited towels-only one bath towel and one hand towel for the week, plus the message about fetching towels for the hot tub was a bit inconvenient. The sofa was quite firm, not super comfy for loungingand the hot tub control panel was a bit confusing after being replaced, but the owner came out quickly to help. Overall, a lovely break!
Rachel
The Elder Lake is such a charming spot, really cosy and well-equipped. It’s super peaceful, perfect for unwinding. We’d definitely stay again and already shared the link with friends. Easy to reach, just off the A30and close to some lovely walks. Honestly, it’s a great little getaway place!
Emma
The pod was super cosy for our four-night getaway, nicely equipped, spotlessand really comfy. We’d love to come back!

The Elder Lake pod was cosy but had everything we needed. The scenery around the lake is stunning, really peaceful. Chris was fantastic, always ready to help with anything. Would definitely stay here again, lovely spot!
Emma
The hot tub was just what we needed after a long walk on the Moorand everything in the pod was well stocked and easy to find. Lovely stay!
Sam
Really enjoyed the pod, facilities were top-notch, definitely recommend it!
Emma
Great spot to relax completely
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay here! The pod itself is super cosy and well-equippedand the location is just gorgeous, especially with the pond right outside. It’s a bit of a small site, which we liked, but it would be even better if there were doors at the front for dog owners - we felt a bit confined inside. Also, some instructions, especially for the clothes horse, could be clearer, maybe in a info file. Overall, a lovely spot with great amenities, just a few tweaks would make it perfect!
James
We had a really pleasant stay at the pod. The layout is quite practicaland it’s fully equipped with all the utensils, platesand essentials you’d need. The oven, fridgeand microwave all worked perfectly, which was great. The bed was super comfyand the hot shower plus good heating made things even better. We only realised there was a clothes airer after two daysand the dishwasher and cooker instructions weren’t found until the last day, which was a bit of a faff. The Bluetooth sound system was decent once we figured it out. Would definitely come back!
Sam
We had a fantastic stay at this lodge! The location is spot-on, with lovely views of the pond every morning. The covered outdoor area was a lifesaver, especially with the unpredictable UK weather, making it perfect to relax in the hot tub no matter the rain. The lodge itself was super comfy and well-equipped. We even took a trip to the local pet food shop and fed the ducks - they loved it! Definitely a great place to stay.
Emma Russell
We booked this quite spontaneously after seeing the photos and not doing much research, but honestly, the Elder Lake Pod really exceeded our expectations. It’s in such a lovely spot, perfect for a peaceful getaway. The welcome was friendlyand the pod itself was cosy and warm-definitely suitable for winter stays. It was spotless and had loads of info about the local area. We even got lucky and saw some ducklings on the lake! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break!
Sophie
When we arrived, the hot tub was out of order and we were moved three times, ending up in a different lodge than booked. We only got to enjoy the hot tub on our last full day. Honestly, we probably wouldn’t come back again, sadly.
Emma
We really enjoyed our time here, especially watching the ducks and moorhens. The location’s perfect for exploring Dartmoor and Okehampton. The pod was spotless, with fresh white towels, a comfy bedand an incredible shower. Definitely coming back, highly recommend!
James
Really enjoyed our stay. The location is stunning, right near the Moors and a quick drive into town. The pod was spotless, comfyand had a lovely bright vibe. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place we'd come back to!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay here! The cabin was super cosy and had everything we needed. It’s in a peaceful spot, perfect for unwinding, with some lovely walks nearby. Not much around, which we loved for a quiet break. The on-site pub’s fine for a quick drink, but the bakery in town is just gorgeous. Definitely planning to return sometime soon!
Emma
Staying in the pod was such a lovely surprise-super warm and cosy. The owners are really friendly and welcoming. Definitely planning to return to this spot again soon!
Emma
We just got back from an incredible stay! Honestly, the photos don’t do the pod justice - it’s so spacious, private, super comfyand spotlessly clean. The views are stunning, especially from the hot tub where you can even spot Yes Tor in the distance. Perfect for walkers - just a few minutes’ drive to Meldon Reservoir and loads of tors nearby. We wish we’d booked longer, but we’ll definitely be coming back soon!
Emma Carter
We were pretty let down by our stay at Elder Lodge. The pictures and description are way off - it’s a lovely and clean place, but the location is noisy thanks to the motorwayand it’s on a farm that smells quite strong. Plus, it’s surrounded by other lodges, so it doesn’t feel private or peaceful at all. The place is meant to be dog-friendly, but the strict on-lead policy makes it tricky. Also, no info on local walks, pubs, or how to operate the heating. Not what we expected!
