Richrose Chapel Reviews

The chapel was a lovely and specious and clean The only downside was not ... The chapel was a lovely and specious and clean The only downside was not knowing the dogs wasnt allowed upstairs prior to booking
Positives This is the first truly dogsecure garden we've ever had, which was nice as we were able to have our dachshund offlead. The chapel is tastefully and sympathetically renovated to a good standard and the hot tub was a nice touch. Negatives The second bedroom is advertised as having a ziplink double bed as an option. In actual fact it's two woodenframed singles pushed together and held in place by a bracket. This, together with a mattress with all the support and comfort of a biscuit, make this room entirely unsuitable for adults. The pans, particularly the nonnonstick frying pan, have seen better days and need replacing. The smoke alarm at the top of the stairs was covered in duct tape and the window in the living area has clearly been leaking for some time. Lastly, as others have mentioned, there are no emergency contact details for the owners. This was particularly concerning when there was a planned power cut on the last day which we weren't informed about, which left us unable to cook, use the hot tub, watch TV or use the internet. In summary, could be a great place but needs work.

Disappointing stay for us. We booked here because we have 2 dogs with social anxiety which means we spend most of the time away from people. We wanted somewhere with an enclosed garden for them and a hot tub for us. On arrival, there were rules for the dogs which included not allowing them upstairs. This was difficult for us as on of them chews. If I had known this before booking I would not have booked here. This should definitely be on the listing. The next disappointment was the mattress, which appeared to be a memory foam with severe dementia. We could feel the slats of the bed. Then the hot tub was a massive disappointment. The jets were weak, the water was below the minimal level and we were left with 1 test strip and 1 treatment which we used within 3 days and discoloured again in 2 days. No one to contact for maintenance. We have stayed in other places with hot tubs and never had this issue. We also developed spots which apparently is from hot tub water. We also only had 2 towels we had to keeps washing and drying. The other issue was cleaning equipment. There wasnt enough cloths or cleaning products. The vacuum did not work, and was full somehow. The mop head fell off the mop. I feel for the price, it needs some loving care and someone to contact for the hot tub. Paying extra for this, it should be working well. We went home a day early.
Lovely chapel. Fantastic break away. Wanted to stay on longer. Hot tub was great. Would have preferred it if there was better pans as they looked very used and maybe more pans. The welcome pack was very well put. Explained everything. The tea and coffee tray with the biscuits was a good touch. Made us smile. Very tidy. Will return in the future.

Absolutely stunning chapel renovated to the highest standard, loved reading the back story to the build. Very well equipped from washing machine to firelighters, would love to return in the winter and make use of the fire. We stayed during a really hot period, whilst there is a fan provided it could with an upgrade, the blades come loose every so often. We also couldn't shut the roof blinds in the bedrooms. Other than that I can't fault it. The recommendations book was really useful to find places to visit. Whilst it's not a busy road there are quite a lot of tractors and hgv's that pass but I took the dog for a walk twice a day down the road and always found the drivers very considerate by slowing down and giving us lots of room. Thank you for a lovely stay, would love to come back x

Fabulous stay! Just wish we had booked longer than 4 nights! Everything was so well equipped especially the kitchen. Added touches like the toys both inside and out provided hours of fun for our daughter and us Lovely position with no neighbours was an added bonus for us, and a lovely get away from workevery day life. We packed so much into our time away with visits to Skegness, Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, Lincoln, Baytree owl sanctuary and Springfields. The hot tub was a lovely addition especially after busy days to come back and relax. Only feedback is it would be handy to have a hot tub vacuum as during our stay lots of tractors working on fields around which were brilliant to watch, and the dirt they produced seemed to settle in the hot tub, and we had no way to remove it as too fine for the net, although this could of just been a one off, and we still enjoyed the hot tub! Thank you for a lovely time, we will definitely be returning, and next time for longer!
Victoria
Lovely converted Chapel, stained glass and features pretty. Double bed comfy. Nice touch to have the log fire. Peaceful and remote enough location however close to shops and conveniences. Mid way through stay advised to dipstick 1 provided and add small container of bromine ...we did this 48 hours into stay as hot tub was blue Green in colour, little change noted and no more chemicals or tests for tub. We gave the hot tub a miss for rest of stay as not convinced it was sanitary, think it's also not powerful or filtering properly so big disappointment. Although the Chapel has a social media presence there were no direct contacts in the information for the stay, complained to sykes but they got back night before leaving so just gave up. All in all, would stay again if hot tub replaced and if guests given testing kits to ensure water is safe on a day to day basis. Recent reviews also said about tub water quality so its not an isolated incident seemingly. Dog friendly, liked the dog gate and bowls provided.

We had a wonderful stay at Richrose Chapel. Clean and well presented. We only wish that there were more pans, 1x small old frying pan and 1x small saucepan not enough to cook a proper meal.
Malcolm
Needs new saucepans including larger ones with covers, otherwise top notch. The thought given to the information pack was top notch. If you go do try some of the farm shops set out. A climb to the top of the tallest church spire in the UK at Boston is well worth it 200 steps, but great views
More kitchen utensils would be nice. Place is spotless. It is worth mentioning for dog owners that dogs aren't allowed upstairs. We weren't aware of this prior to our stay. Property is stunning in a lovely location.
Pros. Newly developed property so the decor is fresh Well equipped. The garden is perfect for dogs but the fencing restricts any views. Cons. The furniture is not very comfortable nor is the bed. The Hot tub needed attention as the water was very cloudy, I dont think the chemicals were right, very strong smell of chlorine. As this was one of the main reasons why we booked this property we wont be returning
The Chapel was lovely, very clean and really well equipped with everything you might need and a nice touch were the dog bowls provided for us to use. The garden was perfect for our little dog to run around in. We enjoyed having a real fire in the evening. The only disappointing thing was that we couldn't use the hot tub at all as the water was not clean and was very cloudy when we arrived and it did not clear during our stay. Apart from the hot tub issue, we couldn't fault Richrose Chapel itself.
Really enjoyed our stay. Very well equipped. Everything that was needed was provided. Cottage had everything. Would like to return again at some future point. Hot tub was brilliant.
Pauline
A lovely property well designed, warm, clean and modern. Hot tub warm and clean with excellent privacy. Location excellent especially when we went as we were surrounded by fields of open daffodils. Stunning. Suggestions please provide a couple of saucepans with lids so those who wish can cook. In the Welcome info in a prominent place to provide a caretakers contact number for problems even if this is to be Sykes. We need to know. A lovely stay at Richrose and a big thank you to Sykes.
Corinne
No hot tub , no kettle as it leaked and took two days to replace, Chapel on a main road ,but misrepresentation in your pictures, it was deliberately made to look like it was on a country road . I couldn't walk my dogs on it and had to put them in the car to take them out. with being on a main road the traffic noise all through the night was horrendous.
A great little cottage. We loved it. Well equipped with everything we needed. Idea for our dog too with much thought gone into providing bowls, blankets and even a spare lead. Only one slight disappointment. The sofa and arm chairs were not that comfortable but the log stove and the coziness of the old chapel more than compensated. Many thanks!
We fell in love with the pictures before we even saw it in person, and it did ... We fell in love with the pictures before we even saw it in person, and it did not disappoint, we even booked a 2nd stay before we'd left
Absolutely stunning. We couldn't find fault with the location, the facilities, worked for the boyfriend and myself and the 2 dogs
This is a beautiful little place and we would have happily stayed longer. Well laid out and equipped, interesting history and very relaxing atmosphere.
We enjoyed our stay massively. The secure garden and it being 100 firework free was a HUGE selling point for us. The secure gated car spot was a nice touch too. The chapel was open plan yet still cosy. The Welcome Pack was the most thorough we have ever received at a rental very impressed! The chapel was well equipped, especially in the kitchen. There was even a foiled tray ready for our sausages! The only feedback we would have would be from a cleanliness point of view. The listing said no dogs upstairs but the stair carpet had a lot of dog hair on suggesting otherwise. This didnt bother us at all personally but I was worried we would possibly be penalised for this although the dog hairs were mainly black and our dog is not. It did however suggest the stairs carpet hadnt been hoovered properly.
Absolutely beautiful property and the story behind it is really heartwarming. A complete home from home, fully furnished and beautiful inside and out. Will most definitely be back
Hey mate.. top gaff .. having a go of the
The property is perfect, well maintained and very clean. Its a minutes drive from a great walk for the dog and we really enjoyed it, stay was only spoiled by the weather.
Victoria
The property was spotlessly clean and the whole place was beautiful. The little touches like the welcome book, the tea tray and the logs for the fire were lovely. It was also good to read about the property and how the project was finished, well done. Had the best and most peaceful relaxing holiday here, looking forward to next year already! The only thing which i would advise would be a hook to keep the back door open! With the wind it kept slamming shut so we used the pot plant to prop it open!
Graham
One of the smartest, most comfortable, and best equipped cottages we have rented from Sykes over the years. In particular, the detailed instructions for absolutely every device and system in the cottage were excellent. The only tiny glitch was our inability to find any cutlery. I had to phone Sykes, who contacted the owner, and told us about the secret cutlery drawer inside another drawer under the worktop. I believe this is a 4 star cottage why isn't it 5 star?
