There is plenty to explore from your front door, via the family cycle route, or the sculpture trail. Visit Beechenhurst (3 miles), where you can swing from the trees at Go Ape or enjoy a cake and coffee from the cafe. For wildlife, there are several nature reserves where you are free to roam. For mountain bikers, you can take on one of the many downhill trails, along with rock climbing and kayaking for the more adventurous.

For wildlife, there are several nature reserves where you are free to roam. For mountain bikers, you can take on one of the many downhill trails, along with rock climbing and kayaking for the more adventurous.

For a family day out, you can visit Clearwell Caves, Puzzle Wood, Perry Grove Railway, Hopewell Colliery or Dean Heritage Centre, all within 7 miles. The property is situated along a peaceful lane overlooking the forest, with gated access to an enclosed garden where you can reach the property via the front door.

Step inside to the entrance hall where you can leave your muddy boots and coats. The bedrooms are situated on the ground floor, with a choice of two beautifully finished bedrooms, a king size room with Smart TV and en suite shower room, and a zip and link room which can be configured as a twin or king size on request.

There is also a shower room with a double shower and WC on the ground floor. The staircase leads to the open plan first floor, with stunning views, offering the perfect place to sit back and relax with friends.

Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB

Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.
Lama Trekking at Old king Street Farm - NP16 6AA

Lamas are gentle, affectionate and unique animals and Lama Trekking is fast becoming a popular family attraction. At Old king Street Farm you can spend the day with the charming creatures and enjoy feeding them, grooming them and having a stroll through the woodland. Lamas are not ridden but they can carry all the picnic essentials including tables and chairs! Lama Treks around the stunning Black Mountains are also available. 
Bristol Aquarium - BS1 5TT

The Blue Reef Aquarium and IMAX 3D Cinema is located in Bristol and makes a great fun family day out.  The newest attraction in the region it's an experience not to be missed.  More than 7000 animals are resident in naturally themed habitats and you can enjoy wandering around looking at the 40 displays. Highlights include the giant octopus and the cute seahorses. The IMAX 3D cinema system is fantastic - you will feel like you are swimming along with the animals.
Queenswood Country Park - HR6 0PY

Queenswood Country Park has a stunning location offering panoramic views of the countryside. The area is abundant with wildlife and you can see how many species you can spot while enjoying the nature trails. The park also has a large children play area and a licensed café. Seasonal activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and at peak times of the year including Halloween events and crafting sessions as well as ranger led walks.

This wonderful attraction in Gloucestershire will appeal to animal lovers as you will have the chance to see the fantastic work going on and meet the rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.  This place is funded entirely through public donations and they rely on these vital funds.  Kids will love the play barn and straw den where they can run off some energy.  New for 2010 is the Aerial Runway with Jungle Climber.
Spetchley Park and Gardens - WR5 1RS

Spetchley Park and Gardens in Worcestershire are the perfect place for a day trip all year round. During the summer months the gardens are really at their best with beautiful displays of flora and fauna. Many families choose to bring a picnic and there are several picnic tables in the grounds. The deer park is also a big hit with children as well as grown ups. The onsite tea room serves tasty sandwiches and cakes and uses local produce where possible.
