The Firs Reviews

Alison
Lovely quiet comfortable property. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. View was beautiful. Couldnt fault it.
My friend and I stayed 3 nights from 5th August. We have never stayed in a more fantastic place. The luxury compares to any first class hotel and the views are to die for. Tom the owner was so friendly and helpful. A little late posting this review, unfortunately fell and broke my hip first day home. Will certainly be booking The Firs again. Thank you for a great holiday.
What an absolutely beautiful setting and lovely lodge. Peaceful and good for the soul the bird and wild life was fantastic both around the lodge and the surrounding areas. The views are breathtaking, the hot tub was fabulous and the accommodation very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The only extra things we will take on our next visit will be a sharp carving knife and an egg poacher I don't like fried eggs! Tom gave us a very warm welcome on our arrival and Emma was very helpful. We went into Llanidoes to Chartists 1770 in Trewythen Hotel for Sunday lunch to celebrate one of our party having her birthday and had a superb meal it's so easy and quick to get to too.
It was a lovely relaxing holiday, we loved watching all the birds whilst in the hot tub. The view from the lodge was breath taking. The scenery in Mid Wales was fantastic. Elan Valley is really worth a visit.

You really cant go wrong, perfect in so many ways. Actually dont want to write such a good review in case other people want to go would quite like to keep this to ourselves

This is the third time my family and I have stayed at the Firs. The lodge was a wonderful place to relax with breathtaking views. We all very much enjoyed the use of the hot tub. Thank you so much again! We look forward to visiting again!
Had a brilliant holiday. The lodge is perfect, very clean and comfortable. It is maintained to a very high standard, with everything you need. Tom is lovely and friendly and very helpful. The hot tub is the icing on the cake, went in it every day. The little birds that visit all day long gave us hours of pleasure. The views are stunning, even when it was raining!! Lots to do in the area and close to shops, pubs and beaches. Hopefully we will be back next year. Thanks Tom and Family x x Ellen and William
What a fantastic lodge with stunning views. A warm welcome from the owner who gave us information about walks from the property. Very well equipped would benefit from a clothes airer, a sieve and kitchen scales. Plenty to do in the area within a short drive. The hot tub was lovely to relax in at the end of a busy day. Would highly recommend a stay here.

We had a fantastic week staying at The Firs. The pictures dont do the lodge and the setting justice, its so peaceful and the lodge is clean and decorated to provide a home from home experience. It has everything needed. The hot tub was fantastic and it was perfect to sit and admire the amazing view and the abundance of wildlife around. We spent our days exploring Wales, and the hosts were very helpful in guiding us with places to visit, and even rescuing us when we got lost on a walk in the hills. As a family of four we throughly enjoyed the time we spent here and will helpfully be returning soon!
This property is out standing. Very secluded and private just what we wanted. Clean and homely equipped with all that you need. Owns are right on hand if u need any thing. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

This was a superb lodge, maintained to the highest standards throughout. The owners were exceptionally welcoming and helpful, which added to the overall enjoyment of our stay. We have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending it.
Deborah
This is the most amazing setting for rest and relaxation. The lodge is fantastic, with everything anyone could need. The owners are so helpful and friendly. The lodge was spotlessly clean and very comfortable for 2 couples, the 2 ensuite rooms being perfect. In a very peaceful location but close enough to the town for supplies. The welcome pack was a lovely and very much appreciated gesture. We cant wait for our return visit. Thank You very much.

We had a great stay with in a fantastic lodge with beautiful views. There are plabty places of intetest to visit in the earea or just relax in the hot tub and listen to the wild life. The ownes are very helpful and keep their home like cottage very clean and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Loved our holiday. Thank you.
Property brilliant best lodge I have stayed in.
Sidney
We really enjoyed out stay at the Firs, it was a really clean and well equipped cabin, with amazing views
Victoria
Brilliant stay at The Firs, the owners were very welcoming and provided a thoughtful welcome pack. The property was very well maintained and equipped, couldn't really fault anything. The hot tub was a welcome relief after a long day of walking! One of the best self catering properties we have stayed at.
Beverley
A lovely welcome and a lovely property. Everything there that we required however, one of the bedrooms could do with having a set of drawers in nowhere to put clothes that didn't hang up only 1 shelf in the wardrobe. The other bedroom the ensuite shower room the toilet lidseat was annoying as it would not stay up. That said, the lodge is a wonderful place to stay gorgeous views and the hot tub a bonus. Plenty of space and everything we needed in the kitchen. Owners seemed to have thought of everything. We'd definitely recommend a stay here. The town of Llanidloes is a lovely place go to the Cobblers Tea Room and you won't be disappointed but make sure you visit the toilet there too!! The Angel Inn for a meal is a must. Many thanks for a lovely stay just what we all needed.
Sandra
This is a fabulous property which exceeded our expectations. The welcome on arrival was very warm. The property and its location are both excellent. It's really clear that there's been lots of thought and care put in to the property on all levels layout, design, cleanliness, comfort and it really shows. Can't reccomend this property highly enough.
Oliver
Had a lovely holiday. Cottage was well kept and the owner was very attentive to our needs. This coupled with the glorious weather attributed to a splendid break.
Christine
Fantastic property for anyone who wants to have a break in a beautiful part of Wales. Every need catered for in the cabin, with lots of little extras. The view was amazing, with lots of birdlife visiting the bird table on the property. Tastefully furnished with lots of lovely touches. Hot tub was a bonus, overlooking the fantastic view. Great base for exploring the whole of Wales, including Portmerion, Powis Castle , and New Quay where they do great boat trips looking for dolphins and wildlife.

This property is one of the best properties my wife and I have stayed the ... This property is one of the best properties my wife and I have stayed the owners being so helpful and pleasant the accommodation has everything you would want and the cleanliness is second to none the views are fantastic the only mistake I made was forgetting to pack my slippers iwould recommend this to anyone as I have already to my family and friends although we have been home for two weeks we have already contacted Emma to see if she has any cancellation for us to return 5 stars for everything thank you for a lovely stay
I am so pleased with our stay at the firs, we stayed there as a bunch of friends for the weekend and had an amazing time, the hosts were lovely and accommodating to us. The actual cottage was even better than expected! It had everything we needed and more. We brought our own food to have during the whole stay which was catered for by the equipment however there are more than enough shops in the local village if you needed supplies which is a 5 minute drive away. Brilliant views in the hot tub and viewing areas around the property, the only thing I would recommend is to move the bird feeder as it does block the views a little bit from the hot tub
Geoffrey
Really lovely property in a beautiful area. Owner very friendly and helpful.
The firs is perfect in every way. the views are phenomenal. The lodge is clean and very well presented with all mod cons and extremely comfortable with beautiful walks on the doorstep. The hot tub is exceptionally clean and well maintained. I cannot rate this property high enough. Such a fabulous find.
Samantha
The Firs is a great place to stay, with everything you need for a relaxing break away. The scenery is amazing and being able to enjoy it from the hot tub was an added bonus.
An absolutely beautiful lodge. The facilities are excellent, including the hot tub. The views are breathtaking. Friendly owners who are on hand if you need anything. Cannot fault it and would love to go back.
This place was AMAZING! The views were astonishing, the lodge was cosy and the area is so peaceful. I would highly recommend this to everyone I know.
Svetlana
Nice services! You the best! Thanks for good attitude! I really recommend you!
What a lovely place to stay, peaceful, beautiful and perfect. The chalet is built beautifully, the view is wonderful as you look over into the valley bowl and can watch the sunrise from the front porch or hot tub which is an amazing experience. It's great to watch the birds come down to the feeder which the family top up regularly. It was easy to get the place warm. My kids enjoyed having a bit of driveway to use their scooters abs balance bike on. My partner enjoyed having the gas bbq which is well thought out as it's outside but under a big awning so if it was raining your could still sit out. Emma left us essentials such as dishwasher tablets, washing tabs which we always forget to bring so it was appreciated. If I had to change anything it would be bigger beds but were used to a super king at home, and more plates bowls etc. But it felt like a real treat to be there for all of us.
The Firs is an extremely comfortable property with all the creature comforts you could wish for. The property is exceptionally clean and furnished with high end quality furniture and fixtures and fittings. Location is excellent and within easy reach of Llanidloes where there is a good selection of pubs and restaurants to enjoy. I can highly recommend this property for a quiet and relaxing getaway ..
Elizabeth
This was an amazing lodge, the hot tub was fabulous. The view was to die for. The little town was just a stones throw. We found some excellent local places for breakfast and dinner. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing break
Excellent place to stay! Would definitely recommend to others and is worth every penny!
Hannah
One of the best lodges we have stayed in! Lovely views over the valley, you can sit and watch the sunrise and birds and squirrels that visit the feeder in all weathers thanks to the undercover outdoor area. Clywedog Reservoir is just round the corner and has some amazing views and a little plant based cafe with a raised viewing platform that looks out across the lake and dam.
Joseph
An amazing stay. Small issues was dealt with extremely quickly. I would highly recommend this place. Very good location with some of the best views I've seen. I'll be booking again for next year
Richard
Wonderfully welcoming hosts. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with even a lovely welcome pack. The view is stunning and even better from the hot tub! Would highly recommend and would love to return. Probably more suited to couples or older children, as it is lovely and quiet.
Teresa
Wow wow wow and WOW location , facilities hosts, in the most stunning and accessible part of wales mid august no crowds, everything from mountains , lakes and coast within an hour or closer drive and plenty on the doorstop to walk fabulous walks , cycling trails our main activity and swimming make it perfect for families and our two grandkids 68 loved it! We had a few wet days but coming back to the lodge for a shower and hot tub dip was awesome and with a stunning view made this place a 5 star plus wow! Thank you Tom and Emma for looking after our needs so brilliantly! We will be back!
Philip
A beautiful well maintained lodge. The owners are very proud of their holiday homes and so they should be. From the friendliness, warm welcome, a delightful hamper, extremely comfortable to the beautiful views and the icing on the cake is the hot tub. Our stay was just perfect. If I was to suggest a couple of things it would be things like steak knives, probably a little more crockery, after using the BBQ which I might add was a fabulous bonus, no plates to serve the food from. One small paring knife and one bread knife also needs upgrading, or at least adding to, along with a workable tin opener. I would also suggest a spray disinfectant for cleaning down the kitchen surfaces after use. These suggestions certainly didn't impede on our stay but having a steak knife after cooking on the BBQ would have made cutting it a little easier.
We have stayed in many lodges before but this one is by far the best weve ever stayed in. A fantastic location, the lodge itself had everything we needed and the extra touches were a pleasant surprise. The owners were lovely and were there to greet us and show us around when we arrived. Would definitely book here again and would highly recommend.
Michelle
A fabulous lodge with breathtaking views, surrounded by nature. The owners attention to detail were amazing. A magical escape away to chill and spend time with loved ones
