Willow Lodge Reviews

Andrea
This has been an outstanding holiday from start to finish. Welcome gifts for humans & doggo , cleanliness property highly maintained , Grounds highly maintained Instructions guidancecertificates on appliances in welcome pack Owners direct phone numbers in welcome pack Meet & greet available if you need it. Owners highly approachable, and go above & beyond to make your stay with them the best . It just felt like it was our home and not somewhere we were staying
A really fabulous cottage. Hot tub was great. The cottage is clean and tidy. We couldnt find fault with it. And the enclosed garden was great our dog loved it. The log fire was a beautiful bonus and when lit made the cottage even more comfortable. Beds are very comfortable. Including the beds on the mezzanine Emma and Darren were available but not intrusive at all. Cannot wait to come back to willow lodge
Immaculate cottage in an idyllic and peaceful place. Friendly and helpful family. Spacious rooms but think a rejig is needed. The mezzanine bedroom is very small due to the apex of the roof, it is dark and we would question its safety. Not suitable for adults and this caused a problem because we were two ladies and one dog. There is enough space downstairs to create two ensuite bedrooms rather than one ensuite bedroom and an attic without an ensuite. We also would not consider putting children of any age up there. We enjoyed our stay, the hot tub is great as well as local eateries, we were made to feel welcome. Refiguring the layout would be an improvement.
Willow Lodge is by far the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and weve stayed in a lot. We couldnt find a fault with it and our Labrador, Buddy was the happiest hes been at any cottage especially with the flooring inside and the large enclosed garden outside. The cottage was spacious, neat, clean and tidy, well equipped with everything you needed the large bed was so comfortable. Emma and Darren were on hand if you needed them and were knowledgable of the local walks and eateries. We shall definitely be booking to visit here again FABULOUS

Just got back from our weekend break at Willow Lodge and we loved it. As other people have said the mezzanine is small, but we've just had 2 average size adults stay up there no problem it is lovely and comfortable, just a low ceiling which if you read the reviews you are aware of. The cottage is lovely, clean, private and located so handy for going off places. The hot tub is great, and the secluded garden perfect for our dog he loved it. We'll be back and would definitely recommend!
Did not know cottage was in owners garden and had people walking back and forth, past windows all time, or owner in the garden doing jobs. felt a little, uneasy, so had to shut all blinds. Dogs barking, early am, and the second upstairs bedroom only suitable for children really small clostaphobic . Not as private as I thought ,
We had a very enjoyable stay at this wonderful, comfortable and spacious lodge in a peaceful and relaxing setting. The owners, Emma and Darren, were very friendly and welcoming and provided helpful information about suitable walks for our two ageing Border Collies. The dogs loved the very large and totally secure garden too. The welcome gifts were much appreciated. We certainly intend to return.

Just got back from a gorgeous stay at willow lodge. Pictures don't do it justice! The place was so cosy and clean. Master bed very comfy! Had everything there you could need. We couldn't resist not using the beautiful log burner on our last night despite it being a hot daynight! Will definitely be back at winter one year as i can imagine how cosy it would be with christmas decorations. The garden and hot tub is beautiful, my dog rosie loved it as very secure and enclosed. The bushes around the hot tub have grown alot since the photos uploaded on here so you get alot more privacy. Can't fault anything, thanks for a lovely stay. My boyfriend also engaged to me whilst we were here
Victoria
This is a real home away from home. The owners have made everything very comfortable from the security provided by the fully enclosed and private garden, to the superb hot tub and as everyone mentions the very comfortable bed in the maser bedroom. Highly recommended.
Christine
This was a lovely cottage in a good location within walking distance of a pub with good food , it was made better with the lovely hot tub which we used every evening! The only downside for us personally was the lack of communication, in person, of the owner until we were leaving and the fact that the path from their home to their stables went past all the windows down one side of the cottage which we didn't feel comfortable with as it was used quite a lot. In fairness they had blinds installed for privacy but these made the cottage quite dark.
We had a wonderful stay. The Lodge is beautiful and in a lovely village. Great walks, lovely village pubs, just a great base to stay. The main bedroom was lovely with a fab ensuite, great water pressure too so the shower was very good. The bed was soooo comfy, the beds on the mezzanine are tiny and more appropriate for kids, but we knew that area would be tight for adults. The garden is absolutely beautiful and the hot tub was a wonderful way to relax after our walks. We loved our stay and would definitely go back.
Willow Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. Owner very helpful. We had a wonderful stay.

This was our 2nd stay at Willow Lodge, its like home from home, everything you need is there. The lodge itself is beautiful, very spacious and immaculately clean. My 12 year old son adores his fishing and is absolutely in his element at Willow Lodge with their beautiful well stocked pond
This is a lovely holiday home, everything you need is there, it was lovely and homely, very comfy bed and very well equipped. The hot tub was just the right temperature and a very welcome addition at the end of a day out or simply to sit back and relax in complete seclusion. Emma and Darren are on site for anything you need but not intrusive, you can walk down to the lake and meet the geese and ducks. Its a great base for bird watching with lots of nature reserves within a 45 minutes radius.
Fabulous cottage, be clean and really spacious, the garden is very secure and ideal for your dog. The hot tub is lovely, very private and undercover. Would highly recommend
This property is stocked and maintained to a very high standard and the owners seemed to have covered all basis, games, children's toys, dog bed and treats, CD's. The secluded hot tub is especially good and very relaxing in the warm water, even when it is cold outside. Welcoming owner and nothing is too much trouble, easily contacted and helpful.
Michael
We had a lovely stay at willow lodge, this lodge has all the equipment you need! Very clean and lots of games and toys to keep the kids busy, this lodge is set in a lovely quiet setting with fields and horses, lovely wood burning fire to keep you toasty, Emma the owner was lovely and so helpful! Would highly recommend.
An amazing stay was had a willow lodge . Willow lodge was well equipped with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The hot tub was glorious, surrounded by bushes for privacy so you could sit back and relax knowing you are not being overlooked, as was the garden, although it was too cold for us to spend time in it. In the lodge there is a large selection of bookscdsdvds which you can enjoy in front of a very homely wood burning fire to keep you toasty warm on a winters day. We would definitely recommend willow lodge and hope to return here in the future.
Richard
Came for a peaceful and relaxing Xmas and we got just that. Lovely welcome pack on arrival and Emma very quick to respond to a text query. The hot tub sealed the deal and ensured we were totally relaxed. Weather was a bit rough over the week but it didn't ruin our break. Lovely friendly cafe locally West End Cafe with such a friendly owner who made a huge fuss of our dog who incidentally preferred the dog bed provided in the lodge to his own!. Would love to come back and make proper use of the large garden in warmer weather. Thank you Emma for ensuring we had a lovely Xmas! Happy New Year to you!
Paul Richard
We had a lovely stay at Willow Lodge. The Lounge certainly has a wow factor and was very comfy and cosy with the log burner. The bed was amazingly comfy. As an animal lover it was beautiful seeing the horses out every morning. The hot tub was an added bonus as never used one before and it was very relaxing. We chose location as found it very central to places we wanted to visit. Thank you Emma for the wine and cake, lovely gesture! Also a pint of milk in the Fridge. Little cafe in the village is worth a visit, staff are lovely and welcoming, as too is Emma who we met, couldn't be any more helpful. Thank you for everything Emma and have a great Christmas and New Year !! x
Heather
The value and quality of the cottage is outstanding. Absolutely perfect. Very quaint, tucked away in a peaceful setting surrounded by fields and lots of horses. Exceptional walking area for our four legged furry friend. And the garden for our furry friend was great. Exceptional hosts. Cottage is charming inside everything impeccably clean, cozy and comfortable. After a day walking a nice roaring fire made it a warm, relaxing place. This cottage is highly recommended for a stay.
Elizabeth
We all felt it was a great property and location with a home from home feel. It was well stocked with all the necessities great open fire and hot tub . All our party including our pet dachshund left fully chilled considering the horrendous weather conditions we encountered throughout our stay.So to have a great time under these circumstances is a testament to the owners and cottage available to let.
Michelle
Just spent a few days here, May, the husband and the dog and we absolutely loved it. It was a true Home from Home. everything you could need and more the hot tub and the lovely log burner was a welcomed edition on them cold evenings. The garden was absolutely fantastic for the dog. Great size, very secure he was in his element, and it was nice to be able to sit back and relax, knowing he was safe. The bed super comfortable felt like sleeping on a cloud. Highly recommend this place to anyone. We are already looking for a return trip. communication with the owner was fantastic was there if we had any issues with thankfully we didnt
Pamela
Willow lodge was one of the nicest places we have stayed. Very comfortable, a real home from home. Hot tub fantastic, was in it every day. The enclosed garden was excellent for our dog, plenty of space for him to play catch. Walks around the fish pond on an evening was lovely. Would love to come back again.
Lorraine
A beautiful lodge with lots of extra home comforts. A welcome pack with lots of advice on places to go, menus from various restaurants pubs and take aways. Comfy beds, pillows and a beautiful garden and hot tub. The kitchen had everything you could need and provided lots of extras you would have been expected to bring with you. Lots of books , dvds to watch and games and toys also. A beautiful relaxing lodge, lovely decor with some quirky art work which we loved. A lovely little walk to the fishing lake down the track, lots of places to sit and watch the ducks. A 15 minute easy walk to a local shop and a little stroll to wonderful cafe with a garden center opposite. Highly recommend thus property. The owners are on hand if you need them, we met Emma who is lovely. We would definitely return. 10 out of 10.
Amazing cottage, great facilities. Lovely location. Could not fault this cottage in any way. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the hot tub . The place was so lovely and very comfortable, unfortunately we needed to leave a few day early but we still come away relaxed.
Immaculate comfortable very well equipped 5 property in a beautiful location. Very friendly helpful owners.Grandson caught 75 fish during the week in the picturesque lake while we watched the ducks ,geese, rabbits and horses and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Private garden, furniture and huge hot tub were lovely extras. We didnt use the bbq. Dog friendly and secure..we could relax.Thoughtful extras provided by Emma & Darren wine ,chocolates, dog treats, tea coffee sugar milk etc were much appreciated. We will certainly return next year.
The cottage was amazing. It had more than you could possibly need. The owner had thought if everything. It was so clean and smelled lovely on our arrival. Our dog loved running around in the garden and we loved our early morning cuppa sat soaking up the sun. Loved the comfy sofas and beds. In our opinion nothing needs to be changed. It's just perfect as it is.
We had a fantastic stay at Willow Lodge, the property was extremely well equipped the owners had thought of everything and were most helpful during out stay, and very clean and homely. Travelling with a dog we are always looking for a completely fenced in garden, which this had. Cannot fault anything , a lovely cottage, beautiful garden with hot tub, hope to return again in the future.
Beautiful and clean cottage
Had a lovely week stay at this cottage, this is very spacious and clean and the hot tub is a bonus its still outside but sheltered if weather isn't good , in easy reach of days out around Yorkshire, and the owners are so friendly and very welcoming, highly recommended
Susannah
We enjoyed our stay at Willow lodge. The property was well appointed and maintained. The addition of all the garden games was brilliant and the kids enjoyed the Wii. We all used the hot tub and it was a great edition. The upstairs bedroom was comfortable but very low ceilings lower than we expected and even my 8 year old hit his head a few times. The fishing spot was pretty and very easy to access we appreciated the owners proactive approach to organise a fishing spot and the loan of the camping chair. The Main Street of South Cave was a little further to walk than perhaps we had expected but the pub was great. Thanks.
We enjoyed a perfect peaceful family getaway. Arrived to a welcome pack for the adults, kids and dog. Spacious cottage mainly all one level with a great loft room for the kids. Fantastic fully enclosed garden with a luxurious hot tub and lots of toys and games and books for all to enjoy. Could not fault this property at all. Everything has been thought of and owners extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended! Thoroughly enjoyed our week. Thank you so much!
Beautiful cosy cottage. Fully equipped with absolutely everything we needed. Really comfortable beds. Emma and Darren where always at hand if needed and really helpful. Definitely recommend! A hidden gem!
Absolutely loved our stay at Willow Lodge and would highly recommend to friends and family. Lots of space and very clean with great facilities. Large garden area which the children were able to play in and all very private. Really enjoyed the hot tub and the toybox went down well. We will definitely be looking to stay again in the future.
Claire
Just perfect everything , very spacious, very clean, comfortable bed, quiet and peaceful. The hot tub is a large sized one, under cover , talking to the horses an added bonus. Hosts are very responsive too. Weve stayed in a lot of cottages I think this one is the best yet
Claire
We absolutely loved our stay in Willow Lodge, it was an escape from the daily grind to a peaceful haven. The cottage, hot tub area and the amazing garden were all stunning. The house had everything in it you could possibly need, catering so well for the children as well as our cockerpoo. Our 2 boys loved the toy box and we had a fantastic time playing on the Wii as a family. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. We will absolutely be back and already cant wait! Thank you
We loved out stay at Willow Lodge. It was perfect for eating in or eating out as it has a well stocked kitchen, but is close to many restaurants etc. The hot tub was for us alone and completely private. The owners are there if you need them but unintrusive. Perfect for us. Thanks again Darren and Emma.
Malcolm
Well converted and equipped property with good facilities. Good location affording access to York, the Wolds and the coast. Many good pubs in surrounding villages with excellent beer and food. Bed too soft for our taste and would have preffered a shower in ensuite rather than a bath but all together a great place for a short break.
