Owl Barn at the retreat exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is second to none with stunning views across the countryside towards Croyde Bay. This was our first stay here but it certainly wont be our last. The property is of an exceptional standard and the use of the paddock and mini golf was an added bonus. The icing on the cake is the view from the high quality hot tub. The owners, Lesley and Carl, make you feel so welcome and as they live on site are attentive without being imposing. Our group consisted of 4 adults, 3 children and a dog, all of us, including Bella our fox red lab had a great time and will be back next year.

Second time staying here. We love it. From the hot tub to watching the goats to the views to the well equipped kitchen which is anyones dream kitchen and a pleasure to cook in. Underfloor heating and the multi headed shower are such a luxury. Lesley and Carl are so friendly and helpful. We found it not too long a distant to instow beach and westwar d ho. My only thing I would change is allow dogs in the bedrooms. My dogs are my family and its a hard change for them being separated from us.
Tia
Lesley & Carl were lovely hosts who were really easy going and non-intrusive throughout our stay. Lesley met us on arrival, kindly showed us around and explained the dos and donts alongside recommendations of local walks and pubs. The property is much better in person than photos, and is finished to a lovely standard. We had 8 adults, a baby and a dog, and this cottage couldnt have been more homely and cosy - especially with the log fire and the hot tub! Thank you so much we will be back :)

Just came back from a 5 night stay at The Owl Barn at The Retreat and we had an amazing time. The facilities are superb and spotlessly clean and the outdoor space is brilliant. Our kids love playing out there and going to see the goats. The views are amazing and Lesley and Karl were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We don't normally go ba ck to the same place twice but such was our all round experience, we would definitely consider another holiday here.

The house was stunning & the owner has literally thought of everything. The hot tub was a special touch to my bday wknd Little touches here & there made it lovely. My kids loved feeding the goats & playing mini golf. They have made such great use out of the space to cater for all families. We had to strip our own beds but not sure whether this was because of Covid times. My only critic was the checkin time was very late (which didnt affect us as we got there late) & checkout was very early
