Swallow Barn Reviews

Excellent helpful hosts & a fantastic experience, some great food at the St Kew inn nearby too
Swallow Barn is incredible, set in beautiful Cornish countryside and with so many beautiful seaside towns just 20 mins away in any direction. The barn itself is a home from home with all that is needed for a perfect holiday. Frank was excellent and in contact on the run up to our stay and then during our stay. We highly recommend Swallow Barn and will be looking forward to staying there again.
This was are 2nd stay, which I booked 3 days into are first stay ! Brilliant welcome from Hosts Frank & Kay. Frank in person and Kay with super afternoon tea, very enjoyable start to are holiday. Lovely to walk in and feel at ease in this lovely cottage. Every thing as it should be. So peaceful, super garden and views. Ideal place to explore Cornwall from. Will be back spring 2025.
Christopher
As always with swallow barn we know what to expect and it always delivers ,looking forward to our next visit. Chris and pat
Our third time of staying at Swallow Barn! Frank and Kay are the perfect hosts.
Disappointed about the hot tub this is mostly why we chose swallow barn, unfortunately it was leaking and was not really suitable to use.
The cottage was beautifully presented, and had obviously been converted to a very high standard. We lacked for nothing everything we could possibly need had already been thought of. Milk and the home made cake on arrival was a lovely touch. The owner was there to greet us and readily contactable if needed. We loved the peace and quiet which Swallow Barn Cottage provided. The secluded garden, with its' far reaching views of the Cornish countryside, was an added bonus. We would definitely return and would highly recommend this property.

A great converted barn with a delightful garden, in an attractive part of Cornwall, with helpful and friendly owners, resulted in having a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Property is extremely well equipped and was beautifully warm even though the weather was rather chilly. Only minor issue is that the sofa and easy chair are rather low and difficult to get up from if you elderly unfitarthritic like me but most will have no problems. Reassuringly the bed is no problem as well as being extremely comfortable. Would we go again. Yes, but I would probably bring a portable chair with me.
Lovely and relaxing, and with a hot tub to savour. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Lots of places to visit , some only short drives away. We have visited before,
Very well equipped cottage with fabulous views. Lovely welcome with special touches like home made cake, fresh flowers & milk. Will be back..
Robert
Didnt think we would use hot tub but it was great. Frank was very friendly and helpful. Lovely cake on arrival from Kay. Really cosy, good facilities, quiet and private. Good location for exploring the area.

Gorgeous little cottage which in fact was not actually so little! The rooms were very open and spacious yet felt so homely and warm especially when you light the log burner in the living area. Had absolutely everything we needed which was delightfully unexpected. Even the kitchen was very well stocked we didn't need to bring half of the stuff that we did with us! Even equipment such as rolling pins, weighing scales and a food processor provided, which goes above and beyond what we were expecting and was very exciting for two chefs haha. The bed was so comfortable, had a great nights sleep every night after venturing out into some of the beautiful places Cornwall has to offer in the surrounding area. We even purchased some birdseed to fill up the birdfeeder in the garden as there were so many birds that came over robins, blue tits, sparrows they were such a joy to look at while sat in the living room, and also when in the hot tub. Huge thankyou to the owners you have created such a wonderful space, we would definitely return in the future and recommend this stay to friends and family.
18th25thAugust 2023 Mark & Nancy Our first visit to swallow barn but hopefully not our last. It was just what we needed. The cottage was fantastic everything you need for your stay! We had beautiful weather too and with the relaxing garden it made it! The welcome from Frank was great and lemon drizzle cake and pint of milk on arrival a bonus. The only thing you may need as the weather gets warmer is a fan we bought our own. Honestly could not have asked for more. Swallow Barn was absolutely perfect. Frank was a great host with good communication before, throughout and afterwards. We were left to our own devices and the property was just beautiful. Wonderfully clean, well equipped and the hot tub is an absolute must. Had a lovely stay with everything we could need, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, cosy living space, private garden with amazing views, I could go on. Its in a great location for exploring this area of Cornwall, lots of villages, beaches and walks all within 40 minutes. Would love to stay again.
Lovely secluded cottage. Very quiet. The cottage is clean and very well stocked. Frank the owner is very friendly and always on hand if you need anything. This is our fourth stay. Looking at booking number 5 next year.
Stephen
Really nice and well equipped cottage, conveniently located for Padstow and the coastal path. We particularly enjoyed the garden area which is secluded and something of a sun trap. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Jennifer
Very helpful and friendly. Felt very welcomed with lots of lovely little touches that helped make the stay very enjoyable.
Weve so enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage, combining rustic charm with all the modern amenities one needs. The view of the lovely garden and the scenery beyond is outstanding, as is the fabulous wood fired hot tub. For us it is in a great situation, being near to the coast and the Camel Trail etc. There is also the local Red Lion pub at a convenient walking distance. Frank & Kay have provided everything one could possibly need, including the beautiful floral arrangements and of course the lemon cake A fabulous week!
Christine
Well equipped cottage. Nice personal touches including toiletries and bath robes. Lovely garden with hillside views.
Thank you to Frank and Kay for your consideration and welcome. Swallow Barn enhanced our holiday. Will definitely book again.
Vanessa
Swallow barn has everything you need, plus more, but if there is something missing Frank the owner will do his best to get it. Its a real home from home, we especially enjoyed the hot tub. Lovely quiet place with beautiful views. Most places we visited was about an hours drive so ideal location for things to do. If you are stuck to where to go just ask Frank, he has an excellent knowledge of area and can suggest plenty of places. We hope to come back, its just the drive to get there from the Midlands, but worth it when you do.
Cherese
My Father and Mother in law had a wonderful time and didn't want it to end and also found the cottage very easy and accessible for their needs. They Loved the cake and all the little touches that just added to there time. Frank Was a pleasent joy to speak with and made a very welcome visit on arrival and on phone before hand. If only it wasnt such a journey we would come again and again. Thank you for a pleasent holiday and a comfortable stay. Bed was luxurious and the alfresco area was a delight to sit at. Bath was lovely and deep and very relaxing to sit in after a long day. Thank you and would recommend to any one else that feels they would go to cornwall.
Excellent as before at our previous stay. Frank was chatty and attentive and we really enjoyed the tranquility and hot tub. Good weather of course helped. We really enjoyed our stay and visited local coastal resorts etc. Looking forward to next time.
What a wonderful place. Everything you need is catered for and the home made cake as a welcome was a wonderful surprise. Frank the owner really cares about ensuring you have the best time and nothing is too much trouble. Watching the stars from the hot tub was a highlight for us Lots of walks in the area. Try getting the 95 bus from Tintagel to Boscastle then walking the coastal path back, simply stunning
Nicola
Excellent property of the highest standard. Had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Owner was extremely helpful and friendly. Hot tub was an added bonus. Location was really good for exploring the North Cornish Coast and Bodmin Moor. Would highly recommend.
Khizar
Very homely cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially made use of the hot tub and log fire. Highly recommended getaway for couples! Hosts were nice and accommodating.
We had a wonderful week even though we arrived in the middle of storm Dennis Frank did everything he could to make us comfortable without any power for 24 hours . He supplied camping lights and hot water flasks and we had the wood burning stove nothing was to much trouble. We will definitely stay again as its a wonderful area to visit with so much to do .
Deborah
Absolutely perfect, nothing too much trouble, everything one could think of to make the stay the best, even down to robes! Frank was delightful, would definitely recommend.
Lovely cottage with everything you could need for a relaxing break away, cream tea on arrival was delicious. Peaceful setting and not too far away from everything, lovely to come back to the hot tub or the log burner after a few hours out. Thank you for your hospitality, would highly recommend.
