9 Stonerush Valley Reviews

Anthony
All great apart from kitchen blind was completely missing, and general comment on most blinds have a gap around them so arent slightly too narrow.
A real gem in Cornwall, close to fantastic Looe, total privacy,, thank you very much,, really enjoyed our stay.
Madeliene
We had a great time regardless of the weather. We chose this lodge as the hot tub is under cover and can be accessed directly from the living room next to the wood burning stove. Handy hooks were in the right places for robes. We picked up some wood from a petrol station remember to also get firelighters & kindling, as the stove really made the lodge cosy, this was even serviced during our stay, Sally made sure this was convenient for us. The lodge was very clean thank you housekeeping and would say if staying for a week, you only have enough washing up liquid for a couple of days, the same with shower gel etc so bring extra. We had a Waitrose delivery which made life very easy. We did pop down to the restaurant a couple of times, although a small menu, Amanda is so welcoming and is really on the ball with dietary restrictions. The grounds are very well kept and our dog had a lot of fun, we were not overlooked and there is plenty of space between lodges. lots of wildlife, rabbits, squirrels, birds of prey, pheasants, herons Thanks again to Amanda for recommending the Merlin bird app. Would recommend Sarah's Pasties in Looe they also do gluten free, Inkies Smokehouse at Golitha falls is a great visit 25 mins in the car, Seaton is great with dog friendly beaches, also Talland Bay is a lovely cove. Would recommend flip flops for going in and out to the hot tub avoids slips. Also bring your own ice, as no ice trays in the freezer. the wooden table set outside is a little green and just needs a refresh we have had a lot of rain this year, but there is also a plastic rattan patio set. The hot tub was regularly checked and maintained, just remember to put the lid on when you are finished for the day. If you need anything contact Sally, she kept us informed with regular email updates and helpful information. We really needed a relaxing break as its been a difficult year, and this was certainly what we got. Not a big menu in the restaurant and check for opening times, perhaps restricted as later in the year but plenty of options within a small drive. We brought citronella candles and did use them, as backing into the woods and near water, only a few midges but this sorted the problem. Only gripe would be that the lodge is lovely and light but no black out blinds in the bedrooms, did have blinds but not as effective we are easily woken. Will bring a sleep eye mask next time as not a deal breaker.

Very warm welcome at reception on arrival Lodge was well presented & everything you would need was there The lodge is very secluded in a beautiful setting so peaceful & tranquil The Old Mill is lovely to nip in for a coffee or book for dinner, Amanda of the Old Mill did an amazing job of making a surprise birthday cake for my partner We enjoyed our stay so much we booked for next year whilst there. ....looking forward to it already

Wonderful holiday park in a tranquil setting. We enjoyed our stay at Stonerush lakes. The property was amazing and the staff polite and very helpful. We would definitely stay again.
We had a nice stay and have stayed in much less comfortable accommodation. Our only comment is that had we paid the full price got a last minute deal we would have been surprised that the blinds were a bit tatty and the fenced area around the hot tub is in need of repair. Also.the onsite restaurant outside had damaged decking and sharp nails sticking through the table top. These are most definitely observations not complaints.
Wow what a well equipped spacious beautiful home so peaceful felt very private with a lovely look out to the stream and wildlife everywhere. .very relaxing just everything you need in a holiday home plus the added bonus of the hot tub ..used the on site restaurant bar as well which was very welcoming and great food again in a beautiful setting ..cant fault at all .. definitely one we would return to .
We had a lovely stay. The lodge was amazing and we truly enjoyed the hot tub and the wood burner! We even had a squirrel coming to visit us each morning on the deck, super cute.
Michael
Me and the wife had a absolutely brilliant time, I think that the pictures that were on the advertisment did not do the place justice, when we got there the place was absolutely brilliant, so peaceful and quite. The staff are all very friendly and we were made to feel so comfortable. I will highly recommend and will be going back again.
We love Stonerush and find the site very relaxing, and once again we were not disappointed. This property could do with a little updating on some of the woodwork but was clean, tidy and comfortable. Everything was working and we really enjoyed our stay. We particularly liked the covered hot tub at this property which protected us from heavy rain Storm Ciaran! in October.
Rodney
We have stayed at Stonerush before and we are happy to say the standards havent slipped. Tucked away with a hot tub what more do you need.
We love Stonerush and find the site very relaxing, and once again we were not disappointed. This property could do with a little updating on some of the woodwork but was clean, tidy and comfortable. Everything was working and we really enjoyed our stay. We particularly liked the covered hot tub at this property which protected us from heavy rain Storm Ciaran! in October.
The setting of this lodge is perfect to the rear, you feel like you're in a forest and the steam running below provides some tranquility. The lodge was spacious, light and very clean and the sheltered hot tub was a huge bonus when there was the occasional shower. The site is very quiet and it's fine for kids who are easily entertained but there is no play area so look elsewhere if that is a must for you. The Old Mill restaurant onsite serves great food and the staff are great special thanks to Amanda. The park staff were amazing we had some significant car problems during our stay and nothing was too much bother when it came to offering assistance, support or just a listening ear. Laney and the team are a credit to the park. Our holiday was unfortunately cut short because of the car, but we've booked at the sister Southern Holt site for Easter 2024 and have no hesitation in recommending Stonerush Lakes.
Joanne
Lovely property,so peaceful and in a beautiful position. We had a restful time other than one negative, better window covering in the primary bedroom. When the sun came up it is very bright in that room.
Camilla
We will most definitely be back and will be recommending! !! We could not fault the property, was the perfect break, just what we needed, everything you feel that you needed was all available in the lodge. Even a pint of milk and a few teacoffes etc which i thought was a nice touch. Perfect location out of the hustle and bustle of the towns but only a short driving distance to the towns.
Lovely to return to Stonerush Valley for the third time. Quiet and relaxing location. Missed the games and playing cards drawer, and also the guest book to see other guests comments. Beautiful refurbishment of the reception and restaurant. Hope to return soon.
We have been to Stonerush Valley for a number of years and this is our first time to No. 9, and it wont be our last. So nice to see fresh new furniture! Making our stay even more comfortable. Very tranquil and the added addition of the hot tub is a massive plus point. The staff were amazing, it was our daughters 21st birthday whilst we were there and they left balloons and a bottle of bubbly for her!! Very unexpected. We had lunch in the newly refurbished restaurant on her birthday and the staff were super attentive and very friendly. Would highly recommend the restaurant & the lodge!
Not luxury. Cleanliness was not at a good standard at all and some maintenance needed doing. All floor boards creek, mould & limescale in shower, wardrobe smells musty, main bathroom sink plug does not work and water in bath does not get to a good temperature. Such a shame as it was our first family holiday and we had to clean it.
We enjoyed our first stay when this site was under the previous owners and were looking forward to returning especially as we had not managed to take a break for some 7 years. The first cabin we stayed in had a lovely position but was extremely dated with items damaged and scratched it was also fairly dirty all over, with sinks and showers blocked too. We were making the best and ignoring the down points we run a wildlife rescue centre so spent most of our time enjoying the wildlife. On our one and only day out, we received a call asking us to return to the cabin and move all our belongings to another cabin as there was a leaking pipe under the cabin. We didn't really want to cut our day short, have to repack or move cabins and since the leak had been found just after midday, we asked if it could be repaired. They insisted we move and that it could not attempt a repair funny it was fixed the next morning. Obviously things happen and items break, but their approach was that they'd given us another cabin and everything was fine, don't worry, it was only a holiday we'd been waiting for, for a very long time. There was an offer of some type of refund, but after move we had no replies from them and to date, no reply or recompense. Here's a tip, we were a customer and you are not doing us a favour. I may have glossed over it if your attitude hadn't been so poor, hence I took the time to write this.
An absolute delight and amazing customer centric staff and customer service. On onset we were a bit worried about the place after reading a cpl of reviews but were blown away when we got to the property how great it was and very happy with the overall accomodation, the hot tub was as said switched on and ready for use at the allocated time , we had an absolutely relaxed stay and loved every minute , we will love to come back to the same property again as we believe it's the only one with a covered hot tub which we prefer , par for a few housekeeping issues , we were extremely happy and cannot wait to visit again .
Andrea
Lovely place to stay so peaceful a few things need sorting why are blinds still broken in the bedroom and ensuite notice it had been over a year and a simple fix not a good first impression when entering also you can see into ensuite if someone was passing by. Hot tub jets need replacing as now just like a warm bath and unpleasant smell in bathrooms but that said we had a lovely time beds and sofa comfy and clean and wound definitely come back and feel that stone valley was definitely the best spot on the sure private and quiet
Andrew
We had a lovely stay at 9 Stonerush Valley. Well equipped kitchen, really comfy sofas and comfy beds. Few tiny issues. The skylight in the master bedroom has no blind and so that room gets very bright very early. Coupled with the blinds on the doors it wasnt great for a holiday liein! Sadly we had issues with the hot tub, jets not very powerful, reported and told nothing could be done. After a powercut it then just had one super powerful jet, the next pool maintenance chap said it all needed replacing. Lastly the rug in the lounge needs a really good clean, not just a hoover over it. We did enjoy our stay here despite these things. Very tranquil, a well situated base for visiting cornea for some much needed rest and relaxation.
Absolutely gorgeous lodge and lovely park. Will be back as soon as I can.My only slight issue was very dark when letting dogs out at night. But as long as you have a torch not a problem.
Lovely place to stay,so peaceful and love the wildlife,we had three squirrels visit us every day. We have stayed in a number of properties at stonerush,we try to go twice a year at least,it is our favourite place, the staff our lovely and very friendly, the propertys we have stayed in our second to none.I have booked again for November.
Melanie
Absolutely lovely stay we will be back
Joanna
Lovely week long stay at 9 stonerush valley. The lodge was well equipped and clean, looking at the previous reviews Id been expecting it not to be but it was fine I think certain elements of the property just need a litttle bit of an update. Communication wasnt great half way through our stay we started to hear a scratching noise in the kitchen partition wall we think maybe a small animal had got stuck? Every time it scratched our dogs barked which woke up our baby. As it was New Years Eve I emailed charteroak but never heard anything back. Eventually it stopped. Overall though a lovely stay in a private and well equipped lodge and would definitely recommend.
A great place in a fantastic surrounding. The on site bar and restaurant staff are all very welcoming.
Amanda
Really enjoyed our stay. Loved the hot tub and woodburner. Very comfortable sofas. Clean overall but the wood around sink is black and mouldly and needs replacing and the grout in ensuite shower could do with refreshing as black in areas. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and will visit again soon. Thank you.
Evelyne
Our hot tub stopped working on the Thursday morning before we left on the Friday. Sadly no one came to fix it and so we had no use of this for the last two days.
A great location. The property had everything we needed as a family, with space for all to relax. A few extra items such as a large cooking pan would help for those family nights spent in.
The property was clean and some facilities such as TV was very good, however some aspects needed repairupdating eg. broken blinds, bathroom mirror and wooden flooring. In addition the hot tub did not work properly, the bubbles were weak and not as expected. In addition the location was very difficult to get too with very narrow single track roads and if we used anything other than google maps led us down an additional 3.5 miles of dangerous farm tracks. Did not use the onsite bar or restaurant as told booked up for 3 days when we arrived after a 12 hour journey and very little alternatives within 7 or 8 miles.
What a fantastic site and a great base for touring around Cornwall. This site is very well maintained. The lodge was clean, well equipped, exceptionally private and a real find. It even impressed our teenage daughters! This lodge is worth a visit.
The cooker was unusable due to its filthy state. I reported it to the onsite staff who said they would send in cleaners while we are out. They did clean it but its still in a filthy state meaning we couldnt cook anything & incurred quite an amount of extra cost eating out
Danielle
The lodge was a complete getaway from reality, it was so relaxing with the forest surrounding the decking area and the sound of the stream running below. The hot tub was fab after a day of walking around someone comes to check the hot tub everyday or every other day to do chemicals and clean and the decking was secure for our 4 legged babies. Inside the lodge was great aswell, beds were comfy, shower was strong, kitchen was nice but probably could have done with a new frying pan and some extra glasses. The lounge was lovely with the most comfy sofas and great little wood burner. main TV equipped with netflix, amazon prime, Spotify etc just need to remember to sign out. The site itself was beautiful, well maintained and some lovely walking trails. We ate in the pub once it was a lovely atmosphere however the food wasn't great, which is a shame as we were expecting to eat there most nights. Also its a great base camp for exploring Cornwall, not to far away from places. Overall will definitely be returning!!
When we arrived there were strawberries out on the decking fence?
It was our 3rd visit to stonerush lakes, our second in this lodge, but I was a bit disappointed in the cleanliness of some of the items in the kitchen. The chopping board, frying pan and some utensils needed to be hand washed to make clean. Also, whilst there was plenty of crockery there seemed to be a shortage of glasses. Otherwise we had a lovely stay and will be back
This was perfect 'getaway from it all' holiday. The log cabin was in a beautiful location and away from the others, so the only noise was the stream trickling below the verandah. Inside the cabin was beautifully furnished and well equipped, it really was an idyllic and peaceful location. Stonerush Valley has plentiful good walks on its doorstep and a short drive to some beautiful beaches. The onsite restaurant makes a super tasty Sunday roast. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend.
Andrew
The lodge was very well equipped just like being home from home would love to go back soon
Anthony
The signage could be a bit more obvious
